Edited by: Professor Chomsky on 08/06/2005 21:42:44 I know for a fact I'm not built for PvP, but I would like to be able to run missions into low security systems if needed. Have any of you mission veterans out there found a ship configuration capable of escaping gate-attacks and the like? It seems to me you would primarily need modules to keep you from getting webbed and warp-jammed, enough shields/armor to withstand an initial volley and the speed to get the heck outta there. Any advice you have as to a good ship configuration would be much appreciated!

As above.
- Make instas for regularly frequented mission systems. - Check the map before jumping in. 3000 pod kills in the last hour? Might change your desire to jump in. - When in system, keep an eye on local. ALWAYS do this in low sec. Stick around a while and you will know who you have to be wary of. - When actually doing a mission keep an eye on the overview. If somebody appears then warp away without hesitation.
All of these are valid tactics and we havent touched ship settings yet!
"Vets" will generally be in battleships. They would have to be outnumbered at a gate to die (or stupid). They have protection of the sentries. If they dont shoot back they can also jump out.
It's more understanding the game mechanics to reduce risk. You can always get sucker punched though, EVE is like that.

Get a ship with loads of low slots and start like this....
Warpcores a plenty to stop the frigs getting you followed by a tank that will hold for the duration of time to warp...and nanofibres to speed up your turn to warp.
Podding is better than a 20 jump home |

most mission runners that get ganked its when they jump through a gate rather than approaching instas are a must none the less and gate campers will very rarely pod the people they attack they will just destroy yor ship they are looking to kill as many ships as possible and they cant afford the sec hit of podiing everyone they see
as for a setup i wud just fit for doing the missions to the best of your ability people will always be camping systems there is very little you can do about it when jumping into a system on the other side warp core stabs can be useful but they are probably not the best thing to fit to your low slots to complete your mission

You could also use a cloak, preferable on a covert ops ship. Xerxes

Up for it, thats why I said check the map. A bit of common sense and the situation can usually be avoided.
@The coverts op cloak bloke, tailor your advice to your audience. He's new. At a guess I'd say he doesnt have electronics 5, elec upgrades 5 and cloaking 4. Hey, I may be wrong. If I am I still doubt he'd be able to to do the missions in a cloaker.
You sir deserve the rolleyeyes

Well, as has been said before. Check the map, use instas, and maybe even fit one or two warp core stabs where you usually would fit damage mods. Don't fill up all your lowslots with wcs cause you'll really hurt your ability to fight npcs.
But if you really want to improve your chances of being safe then fly with a buddy. Someone in a inty or assault frig can scout the gates before you jump in. You'll be very safe then.

Gates are where your going to get ganked, so fit with a mwd and some wcs fly to the system, then fly to a station, refit for the mission, run it, then refit to your travel setup and head home. Takes an extra 5 minutes per mission, and a little tedious but well worth the safty, and it dosen't comprimise your setup.
