Status report 1st of January 2013:
Caldari is at 0.8% T1 and have been so for a few weeks nowGǪ Farmers move where there is most LB to get (understandable). Amarr is trying against the odds and have managed to hold on to T2 and even of late manage to take a few systems pushing Minis down from T4 to T3 (only just).
Frequent topics that keeps coming up:
- Is the snowball effect of the LP bonus too high? (Current T1 = -50%, T2 = Standard, T3= +75%, T4 = 150% and T5 = 225%). Does it in fact make people jump for LP rather than fight for what they believe in and does the fact that the overwhelming power gain of massive LP on top simply kill off the competition as well as people leaving the losing Fraction when at T1 (-50% LP)?
- OGB (On gate boosters) Often alts (not in FW) are used in fleets to massively boost the performance of ships. Especially in FW the T3 OGB has close to zero risk of being attacked (not a War Target) and happily transfers its bonus system wide even into PlexGÇÖes where the ship would not be allowed.
- LP gained by running lvl 4 missions in SB (Stealth Bombers) totally neglect the need for getting a fleet together and travel though hostile space to complete a common objective. The SB pilot can travel risk free (due to cloaking and fast warp) and when being challenged in a mission site simply cloak until the aggressor leaves. ItGÇÖs simply too easy and LP gained this way makes the LP worth less for everybody else.
- PvE vs PvP reward is far from equal. Spend 10min in a Novice Plex with little risk of ship loss and gain 10K LP standard (25K at T4) or get 20-30K LP standard doing a lvl 4mission in a SB vs a few hundred LP if winning a PvP fight seriously putting your ship and pod in harmGÇÖs way.
Moving forward: I hope CCP/CSM will keep making changes in 2013 (I for one liked they put the button 10km from the warp in - last exp/patch), FW is in general great fun and more changes that possible only can be done on the live server to see if it works as intended need to be executed. It would be a crime to do nothing.
Did I miss anything from the list (constructive please)? Come join us for Amarr FW pvp-áaction. More info here:

I will add a few points:
The Large plexes need to respawn alot more. The LP stores need a revisit. Faction ships should only be available to FW. Many of the faction ships need the rebalance fairy to visit them. And the tags..... . New items would be nice but let's start small. The missions don't affect sov. I'd rather farmers did them then plex. I'd love to see them removed but I don't see that happening.

I agree with Gunship that changes need to be done , boosting needs to be fixed because its stupid as alot of people are incapable of fighting 1v1 without them and obviously they posses a great advantage .
Another thing i for one hope abit more change will happen will be to the plexes , i don't want em to be broken cause as far as i'm concerned i make all my isk from farming them so i can afford to buy ships to pvp .. and while i farm i do my faction good by contesting enemy systems naturaly , but the problem i have is that , ok maybe i'm a noob , u can say it , but i think the cruiers and battlecruisers in the medium and large plexes are way to tanky ( also as stated in the post above , gives us moar larges :P ) , i for one cannot afford to fit a cruiser or a battlecruiser for that matter mods fulll house of gyro's to bring the needed dps to take out a bc in the large , i brought nearly 400 dps once , still wasnt enough ...so i dunno about the rest maybe its cause of my low sp toon or maybe again i'm just a noob but i think they could do with abit less tank .
Other then that , i agree with the op and i hope aswell ccp does something to fix some of the problems |

no docking is perfectly fine. if I hold a group of systems away from the main warzone its harder for you to get in and harras them.
but you could still take the time and effort to move 1j out into highsec and still have an effect
it creates risk. and if you really lost a lot of stuff. leave fw and move it out
no docking makes places worth more. right now everyone in amarr wishes we could take houla to lock out the fleets based there.
if they could dock anyways it would be no more valued than any other system

I agree with the above....docking restrictions give systems true value. Aside from that though there are some nit picks...
1. More large complexes. This has been said plenty of times and I'll say it again. I've flown an average of 4 hours a day, going all over Black Rise....I've only seen a large complex once since Retribution release.
2. Tier system needs a rework. This is something I'm sure the CSM and CCP acknowledge and I will not pretend to know the answer. I do not have a clear suggestion to an alternative either. It is a difficult subject that I'd leave to minds better suited for balancing and deploying such a new system.
3. Less PvE and more PvP. Like the above everyone is aware of it....FW should be a PvP activity with some sustainable PvE inside. Right now, even at tier 1, I can become self-sufficient as a less than one year old pilot flying cruisers and below and freely losing them weekly. The problem? I do most of my income by exploration - not FW. Mostly because orbiting a button and mashing d-scan is not my idea of a fun activity to farm the LP. Meanwhile newer pilots in my corp say they make more money mining than they do trying to offensively plex. That's a broken mechanic which goes back to the broken tier system. My recommendation as to something to look at would be to give both ISK and LP rewards for wartarget kills in FW. If CCP is reluctant to add another ISK producing mechanic they could always increase LP payouts substantially....a frig v. frig fight, 1v1, should not give only a couple hundred LP.
Just some thoughts that'll probably never be seen by the higher ups Arma Purgatorium - For the State, For the Corporation Faction Warfare, PvP, Industrial - Open for Recruiting http://goo.gl/j1J09 |

You young whippersnappers never had it so good! Back in the old days, we didn't have things like LP for plexes, or missions that didn't give you standings losses if you failed them. We had to earn isk the old fashioned way, by running high sec missions. Nowadays you can be out in space available for a real fight while PVE'ing.
And another thing, it's only PvE when one side decides to not show up - like in Okkamon this past week. |

large plexes.. yes, they are basically non existing. I haven't undocked in a BC since the patch if you don't count ihub sieges.
plex layout is quite boring. you do a dscan and know exactly what will happen. Randomized warpin positions or reverting to the old plex layout (while keeping 30km flag activation range) would keep things interesting. The camp & plex layout of the new plexes made many engagements more predictable, reinforcement blobs easier while helping not a bit to catch pure pve players. In fact, as farmer, you don't have to fly at all anymore, warp to change plex or system if something is on close range scan and you are more efficient than before both in annoying pvpers and making LP. Other games call it spawn camping. (timer resets are needed as long term solution)
regarding lvl4 missions. I personally don't see it as an issue at all since the mechanics do not influence FW. They are basically a independent thing and can be ignored for the most part. If you pvp and run out of money they are a nice safety net, if you are a farmer... well you are a farmer and do not influence sov or anything else. They are pve content in FW space. I have a neutral attitude towards them - sure they could be improved but there are also cool features CCP could work on ;) a eve-style bounty system https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=359105 You fail you fail you fail you fail you fail you fail you fail to jump because you are cloaked |

Lerge plex's = the old unrestricted major's same spawning mechanic, nothing has changed just the name so to speak. They are fine.
I have had no problems killing the rats in small/medium (old medium/large) plex with my brawling frigs. Have had some issues when using kitey frigs as the dps is often not enough but only takes a couple of frigs to sort them out generally.
Having been in FW prior to inferno I would say that it is in a much better state today than it ever has been.
The LP rewards could probably do with some skiming down abit to make it less rewarding to swap to the 'winning' faction.
TBH if people would just go out and plex 'casually' you will get enough LP to sustain your pvp and casual plexing provides loads of pvp.
EDIT: The only thing that really narks me about FW in reality is the amount of people who ***** and whinge about being on the 'losing' side and they go and have alts in the enemy militia to 'fund their pvp'! That is the Way, the Tao.
Balance is everything.

i add nothing constructive to this thread.... well, never, actually... but I'm here to say I've always known OGB to mean Off Grid Boosting. the boosters are not always at a gate, you'll often see them on station or at a POS, anywhere where they are nearly untouchable. they provide boosts from... well, Off Grid, so thus the Off Grid Boost name.

For me, I think the main FW topic should be not letting a PVE army unduly influence WZ control and PVP enjoyment. CCP
CCP Promotes FW as:
Quote:Factional Warfare is the PVP training ground for new players, where the hatred between the races of EVE fuels an Inferno
As such it would make sense that it funds PVP within this realm, not providing the hundreds of billions of isk that dedicated plex/mission farmers have been provided with as a result of the crazy LP that comes from the new Tier 4/5 (and hitting old Tier 4/5).
The LP giveaway should be stomped into the ground, and a smaller differential given to WZ Tiers. CCP could achieve this quite easily.
1. Have a fixed LP store like we have now. 2. Have LP rewards that change with much smaller bonus/penalty. (T1= -10%, T2= Standard, T3= +10%, T4= +20%, T5= +30%)
A large compound at T1 would be 22,500LP and at T5 = 32,500LP. Missions could follow the same scale.
These kind of LP rewards would still over-fund a very active PVP lifestyle in FW terms if a pilot gives some time to both PVP and PVE, but might help mitigate the avalanche factor of farmers all flocking to one militia because of their Tier Level. Maybe this scaling down could be taken even further by cutting back the base LP reward for each size of Plex.
I have no idea if such a change would have desired effect but in my mind cutting LP reward is a change that could be done without much consultation and does not require in depth programming changes to game mechanics that might be required by more technical suggestions.
There also seemed to be a lot less farmers after the emergency patch when we had no speed tanking but still had several spawn waves. Maybe we need to go back to that system aswell so that gunless, cloaking farmers cannot just site in a plex to run the timer after the single NPC Navy ship has been shot by a dps ship for them. I remember when we took back Saikamon from the Minmatar we had to take a small gang into the Large Compounds to complete them, encouraging pilots to work together and making it hard for farmers to solo farm them. Not sure how others feel about the plex mechanics during that interim period before the full Retribution Patch was released.
There are many more things, many of which get brought up again and again by others but the above are two things that remain in my FW thoughts at the moment which I feel would be good to see addressed in the short-term.

In FW you can easily make enough to sustain your pvp with minimal PVE (remember it's only PVE if the other guys don't show up to stop you!)
PVP should come at a cost. If you don't like the cost of pvp then bugger off and play one fo the 'arena' type pvp games where you lose nothing if you are beaten!
FW warfare zone control cannot function as a pvp only mechanic it would break the entire system and people would leave in droves! Seriously think how a pvp only mechanic could be implemented?!
If there wasn't a pve aspect to WZ control then what stops systems from instantly flipping? it would completly screw the system.
A lot of people whinge about the pve farmers in FW.....well guess what! Farmers are everywhere in eve. Without them eve would probably collapse under its own explosive weight. Ignore them or shoot them.
And to the whingers who constantly complain that farming controls too much of the warzone.....get of your f'king arses and go fight for your space then! if you can't be bothered to work for something and put some effort into it then i repeat my earlier sentance bugger off and play one fo the 'arena' type pvp games! That is the Way, the Tao.

When they do the Null revamp it may be usefull then to change to a pvp only mechanic but untill it gets tested in null properly It would fail in Low IMO. That is the Way, the Tao.

I've just rejoined FW after resubbing from a few away from EVE.
I am completely blown away by the amount of LP you can generate with very little effort or risk. In just a single night I was able to get north of 120,000 LP and I did very little to do that. Mainly, I just wanted to do some solo PVP, so I'd hang in plexes until someone I wanted to fight showed up.
These LP rewards are insane. I'm not even really sure how a lot of the new mechanics work, but it is astounding that my enemies are getting even more due to them "winning" FW.
Something is pretty wrong when I can fly a ship worth a couple mil for 15-20 minutes and generate enough LP to buy something I can then flip for an easy 20-30 mil profit.
Seems to me plexes should have more spawns (isn't that how it used to be? why was it changed?) and those spawns should be tougher to kill. This would make plexing more interesting and introduce more diverse tactics since it would be in your interest to kill NPCs quickly before WTs show up.

Yes, because rampant farming was so bad before, CCP changed that you had to kill all spawns which appeared and there was the usual 3-4 extra waves. This also meant you had to be in properly sized boat to plex. Based on my observation, this eliminated most of the farming or at least slowed it down since even with some of the better assault frigates (farmers choice), it takes long time to kill all the rats, making it much more likely someone comes to annoy you.
But some people complained that these waves deter pvp'ing in said plexes, so CCP thought one npc which is slightly tougher to kill would deter farming and encourage pvp. Designing this rat to be still weak enough to be killed by t1 frigate in any size plex is probably an indication how much interest CCP actually has to FW (= none at all)

The victory point totals now are between 10k and 15k for gallente. This doesnt look like farming levels of activity to me. Farming levels in the previous iteration of fw were upwards of 100k lp for caldari and minmatar.
On top of that, the 'winners' lp is worth next to nothing, while the losers lp inflates due to lack of supply. Overall, gallente may still be better off in raw isk/hr, but the difference does not simply relate to the lp/hour. |

This has given a small impact in the LP store where many items require "tags" that you would normally obtain from said spawns. Not that I'm a fan of picking up tags, find it very boring and if I am out to pvp they often don't make it home to base anyway. I would prefer the items in the LP store did not require anything but LP.
Regarding the spawn I agree that medium between the single spawn and the multiple spawns could be a good idea? Should a fraction frigate be able to take down a medium spawn? good question? Are we considering a player with 100mill SP and a solid T2 fit or 1mill SP pilot with T1's? Assume for a minute that a 1-2mill SP player with a T1 Cruiser should be able to kill a medium spawn it would stand to reason that a 100mill SP player in T2 fitted fraction frigate would also be able to also kill the spawn. So I think the current strength of the spawn is ok.
As othes have mentioned it would be nice to have more large spawns so we would see more crusiers and hopefully BC's take to the skys in FW. I would even like to see a HUGE plex requireing either sleeper type fits to combat or at least a crusier/BC/BS gang (5-10 ships).

Increased incentive for upgrading the iHubs would be constructive. The objective should be to stall potential plex assailants, be it through tougher plex npc's, EWAR or multiple NPC's, scaling with the system upgrade level.
Even a slight change to the iHub upgrade system would help, right now people who put LP's into iHubs go:"ok, so, this was good(?), the bar used to be there, now it's over there." |

Is the snowball effect of the LP bonus too high? (Current T1 = -50%, T2 = Standard, T3= +75%, T4 = 150% and T5 = 225%). Does it in fact make people jump for LP rather than fight for what they believe in and does the fact that the overwhelming power gain of massive LP on top simply kill off the competition as well as people leaving the losing Fraction when at T1 (-50% LP)?
OGB (Off Grid Boosting) Often alts (not in FW) are used in fleets to massively boost the performance of ships. Especially in FW the T3 OGB has close to zero risk of being attacked (not a War Target) and happily transfers its bonus system wide even into PlexGÇÖes where the ship would not be allowed.
End OP QUOTE
Good Sirs;
I would keep the snowball effect, you want farmers to take more risks. If you farm in the middle of a T5 (like seseide for instance) you get attacked every 5 minutes if the server population is above 40,000. It is almost not worth the effort compared to sitting around a peaceful T2. You might tie the LP to how many FW enemies are actually in the system (averaged over the last day) or how many PVP deaths. You definitely want to reward farmers for taking higher risks.
OGB just makes farmers run from anything they see on dscan. You might actually stay and fight the occasional lone rifter or merlin if it weren't for OGB.

Honestly when you start running the numbers the Isk ration stays around the same, sometimes worse for more items compared to a "weaker" teir
unless at T1, T1 just sucks
I highly doubt there are many items in Gal that can make around 4,500isk per LP, But I know of some in Amarr, issue is you might only be able to move 20-35k LP worth a week, but still
Overall the isk per LP for amarr over the T4 and T3s is 50% to 150% better. It just about evens out |

20-35k is a horrible low-ball number. On days where I'm fighting as part of team Amarr and splitting everything I will typically pull in 50k+ LP. But on 'make some isk' days I'll jump clone back to Gultratren and make 400k to 600k LP in one day. |

The real benefit to higher tiers is easier access to your FW store items. It is really efficient for me to fly all Gallente (faction) hulls at Tier 4. Comets are now much cheaper than they used to be (as well as faction ammo) but now the supply is nearly "endless" due to being at higher Tier. The key now is to develop fleet doctrines based on Gallente faction BS (which I hear is nearly impossible for the Navy Mega) so that we can derp them into fleet fights.
In this respect, the Amarr and Minmatar have the advantage when then hit the higher tiers since there are already well-defined fleet doctrines for their faction BS.

Why do you care if people farm plexes? If you chase them off they lose their plex. They're PvPing you by evading you and wasting your time. I know sometimes it's difficult to realize just how much you spend on incidental things each month or year, but seriously, EVE is very cheap entertainment compared to most things... If you are a smoker, smoke one less pack a week and pay for EVE, with money left over to pick up a cheap bundle of flowers for the EVE widow upstairs. |

Good Vaal Erit;
I spent 2-3 hours last night in Sisiede right next to the big battle in Dal farming. I don't see why you think this is a bad thing. I ran from pirates mostly. I only mannaged to get about 70,000 LP since I was driven off about once every 8 minutes. I saw pirates kill various FW enemies (and be killed in turn). Just because I was the duck they came to shoot and I ran for it doesn't mean there wasn't plenty of PvP.

I f we try to think this current FW mechanic on the way that it will be used as 0.0 sov warfare mechanic.
We do not make any plexes for 0.0 but we change that killing rats affects who gets sov, as plexes affect in FW and can be compared to isk making.
Furthermore if you are big alliance and you have lot of systems you get boosted isk from rat bounties just like you get lp in FW.
Now if you let ninja ratters farm you rats with -50% base bounty you may lose system.
And yes, ofc we add that anyone can join that big alliance with alts anytime they want and rat those boosted bounties.
CCP and EVE community should now praise this good mechanic how ninja ratters would unite and come to take all your systems. |

FFS people farming happens in pretty much every area of eve, as once shepard said to the other 'Get the flock over it!'
In FW you are able to undock, warp to a plex and run it down. You may or may not get attacked. If you do woot fight!!! if not you get an LP payment. What part of this is an issue?
If you warp to a plex and there is a WT there woot! Go kill him or chase him off. Either way if you are left in the plex and they aren't you win. Run the plex. defend it if they come back or just run it down. LP payment again. What part of this is an issue?
Seriously if all you care about is gudfites then just bugger off and become a pirate you can then jump into any plex and attack anyone you find. then see how hard it can be fo get ppl to fight you. Working as intended.
If you are in FW then run the plex's and fight for your faction getting paid to do so at the same time. PVP and isk making opportunities wow!!. working as intended.
If you are in FW for isk making fine go ahead fit up how you want as it doesn't really make a great deal of difference which side you are on tbh if you research your LP/isk ratio for each side you will find the difference isn't that great and being part of the 'winning' side will often make spending your LP rewards more difficult due to a glut in the market. Working as intented I say.
Man I have never seen a bunch of whiners as much a FW people in general.
YOU decide on how YOU play. Not the farmers. If YOU want to FW then go fight for YOUR faction. I mean actually undock and go capture plex's. That is what being in FW is about. Running the plex's pays YOU and generates PVP for YOU. If all YOU want is fights see above. Buy only YOU can decide this. Stop whining about THEM and go play YOUR game.

they actually help in all systems ... becuase noone controls its home system 24/7 ... farmers add 10 - 15% each time gap and forcing defenteder to run the def plexes instead of offensive. >>> who has farmers has the upper hand. That is general problem of tier system. In case of no tiers farmers will be fluctuating between sides to gain lps >>> however there is farming lvl 2 once the control is achieved farmers starts running missions (PL farmers horde).
In general remove the tier system and you will have more clear powers over the battlefield.

Farmers wouldn't be an issue if they had no impact on the war at large (ie. old mission whores), that is what LP for plexing gave us .. whomever has the most alts "wins" .. tier system is secondary.
My suggestions, basically seperate ISK/LP (PvE) and system control (PvP): - Keep tier system as is, tweak benefits slightly to account for below. - Add reverse modifier to plex timers, doesn't have to much, 33% worst case ((T1 vs T5) so "coming back" is a little easier)) - Move all the LP into kills (within plexes to mitigate farming) and missions. - Add poison pills to missions and restrict them to hostile space. - Some notification system to tell if a system is being actively plexed (Militia interface issupposedly 'upgradeable' .. use it!) - Add portion (or all) LP gained for kills in a system to the VP pool of said system.
That and tweak plex NPCs and spawn rules (shouldn't be stopped!) so that one can't do everything up to a large with a frig ..
Will be many moons before devs return to our neighbourhood though so we should have plenty of time to flesh out a 'most desired' list.
PS: Why on earth and in space does friendly mission NPCs aggress me? Someone mess up the code? |

I think everyone here is hitting on a similar topic. The whole idea of spinning buttons and restricted plex sizes really goes against a lot of what eve is. If this was decoupled from taking systems, then I would have less of a problem with it. But when 30 - 40 frigates or cruisers show up in my home system and you can only muster 10+15 people, you should have options. Not just be SOL. Restricting how you play, how you defend your home system with real consequences such as losing access to your station and ships should not be affected by spinning buttons and ship restrictions. I really wish I could offer an alternative way, but I really can't think of anything. I am just finding that the sand box is getting rules and restrictions that are against what eve is supposed to be. |

I strongly disagree with this. This is what makes FW different than the rest of Eve. If you want unrestricted sov level warfare, that is what 0.0 is for. Granted 0.0 sov warfare is horribly broken, but hopefully that is what CCP tackles next to fix it like they did FW. Hopefully fixing 0.0 will also fix the "bored 0.0 alliances dropping in on FW fights because they are bored and need something to do to keep their members occupied" problem.
What makes FW great is that to take systems you have to dominate at 2 of 3 of the following (should be 4 until CCP fixes DT large plex spawns): T1 Frigs, T1/T2 Dessies and down, and T1/T2 cruisers and down. Then you have to be able to bust the ihub where anything goes. You also need to dominate in those plexes for more than 12 hours a day. The FW timer system is so much better than 0.0 because there are almost no structure grinds except for the IHUB which can be ninja-killed by 5 dreads in < 5 minutes.
I think FW is pretty close to perfect at this point. The only real changes needed are:
1. implement a rollback to 0 feature on the plex timers if nobody is currently running the button to discourage farmers from leaving and coming back later.
2. Remove missions all together. They are free LP for farmers which hurts the ISK/LP ratio that the PVPers need to make a living. If CCP insists on keeping them, the LP should be seriously nerfed and shouldn't get impacted by militia tier level.
3. Scale back the LP bonuses for the higher tiers. I'm not sure to what degree, but the current levels are a bit much.
4. CCP needs to look at the map and make sure there are decent non-FW lowsec systems adj to FW space for each faction to base from should they ever be pushed out of too many station systems. I personally like the station lockout as it is a strong motivation to fight and it isn't that difficult to get your stuff compared to 0.0 should the system fall. If they cannot do that, then I can see scrapping station lockout and instead moving to a you can dock, but all station services (repair, fitting, etc) are not available. Here's my 0.02 isk from my time in FW.....
1.) The plex system is actually a very good system for taking control of systems. The size restrictions and grid/gate setup creates interesting tactical environments. The time limits of plexes create a sense of urgency in responses. The station lockout mechanics provide consequences for not defending your territory... Overall, I think CCP has a very good system going here, but it does have some wrinkles that need ironing out.
2.) FW plexes should primarily focus on PvP, and NOT be such an efficient PvE only activity. Leave LP farming to FW mission runners... When carebear plexers are playing the major role in sov flipping, there is an issue. THE reasons for the NPC changes was to limit the afk farming carebear crap that plagued FW. In truth, when a person is running a plex, they should be rewarded for holding the ground and engaging an incoming opponent. For example: This is an off-the-cuff idea, but imagine if for every ship destroyed inside the plex, there is a Bonus LP payout when capturing the plex.. If you bring too many people to fight, your enemy runs away and you don't get a "bonus" when you take a site... .When there is a large engagement within the plex, the plex bonus payout may be huge.... (which may be enough to encourage the opponents reshipping for round 2).
Note: Given that EvE's player base has a propensity to abuse mechanics, , I'm sure that thoroughly vetting the bonus system is necessary to prevent billion LP payouts.
Note 2: You can never really get risk-adverse players to fight when they think they risk not getting paid... What you can do, is limit the rewards they get when they are not taking risks. As such, I would actually recommend reducing the base payouts of all plexes, and move most of that LP payout to PewPew Bonuses.

I don't see how the FW system is any better. One has you sitting next to a station shooting it for a long time, one has you orbiting buttons for a long time.
I'll go ahead and share my thoughts;
In general, I hate plexing. I don't do it, unless we have a fleet up and it just happens to be something we do. I will almost never run a plex solo, and to be honest, I hate how the sovereignty system is tied to who has the most plexers- rather than who can control pvp battles. It annoys me to no end that the group who can win engagement after engagement, whoever it is, is ultimately irrelevant in who gets control of a system. Rather, the faction that is "winning" tier wise gets the most people who plex the most systems for that faction (most of which have no interest in actually getting in a fight), and the problem just gets worse.
The only part I like about plexing is the ship restrictions. I love flying frigates, destroyers and cruisers. I love that they are low SP ships that any new-bro can hop into, I love that they are inexpensive, and I like the way they fly. And due to the ship restrictions, I don't have to worry about being up-shipped.
However, due to my above complaints about the sovereignty system, I couldn't care less about it. If we take a system, cool. If we lose a system, cool. Except in very isolated situations where we run pvp fleets in a concerted effort to take a system, Dal most recently, for example, I have no interest in who holds sovereignty because 99% of the time that sovereignty wasn't determined by PvP, it was by PvE.
Unfortunately, I have no decent solutions for my complaints so it's really just bitching. I treat the FW zone as a highly populated pvp area, with nifty ship restrictions to shape a fight, and having targets that I can shoot without having to deal with gate/station guns. I'm ok with that set up, and I have fun playing in it. It seems like most people have fun too. |

We see far too often a small army of OGB jumping into system before any fighting takes place. This is completely stupid and I frankly never understood why OGB was created in the first place, did CCP run out of real ideas. I often hear that it was to allow small elite gangs an advantage, the reality check is not surprising that it is used by the blobs and those who already have a massive advantage in Isk and skills.
What we are asking is that OFF-grid becomes ON-grid and the fact that you're boosting a fleet member in fraction warfare makes you a valid fraction warfare target and that this is indicated (flashing orange).

+1 Agreeing 100% But CCP won-¦t do.... anything. LOL
edit: btw ogb makes ab drams practically invulnerable vs missiles as I saw today. Again great job CCP. |

For example:
This is an off-the-cuff idea, but imagine if for every ship destroyed inside the plex, there is a Bonus LP payout when capturing the plex..
I agree 100% with your first point. LP for plexes are a great conflict driver. It would be nice with more Larges though, BC's and above are sorely lacking currently.
Since we cannot control farming and we know that Eve players will abuse mechanics, lets make the best of a ****** situation. Why not just normalize offensive and defensive LP payouts for plexes to tier 3 levels? If you have one side getting 225% LP at tier 5 as we currently have in the Gal/Cal front, where will the incentive come for any caldari to actually plex at 50% reduced payout? Even if they do try and push a system, the farmers will come in and make more money defensive plexing than they will offensive plexing. Plexing is boring enough, but doing it for less than 1/5th of the income to your opponent would just you more incentive to switch over to the winning side. Nothing is more soul crushing than this feeling and causes a lot of the players in FW for the pvp to think ''Why the hell should I care about plexing, since what one person does, a trible boxing farmer can do much more effectively''
If the payouts were normalized then the side with more WZ control and more farmers would thereby be more susceptible to farmers pushing the WZ since there is no . This would create a little bit more chaos and a more varied landscape, hopefully creating a push/shove not really present in the current iteration.
One other thing I would like to see is only being able to do missions in hostile territory. Make it so that on accepting the mission you are sent to a hostile area, and even if the system is flipped while the mission is still valid you are still able to do the mission there. |

I don't see how the FW system is any better. One has you sitting next to a station shooting it for a long time, one has you orbiting buttons for a long time. I'll go ahead and share my thoughts; In general, I hate plexing.
The difference between 0.0 sov and FW sov is that in order to hold sov in FW you actually have to live there and defend it 23.5/7. All of the systems that nobody lives in just get to be ping ponged back and forth by the farmers. You cannot ignore these systems and hope to hold them by dropping a blob into them from time to time. While not ideal, I see no way to make these systems sov determined by "pvp" since there really isn't any meaningful pvp "winner" in those systems. Who is the "pvp" winner, the guy who drops a massive blob into the system once in a while or the guys who can close plex after plex in the system unmolested? While the latter can be farmers, it could also be pvpers who live there. I'll take the latter. Is that really so bad?
The other beautiful thing is that when running a complex, it doesn't matter if I have 1 guy or 500 as it still takes a fixed amount of time to take. In 0.0, the more people I bring, the faster I grind through a structure. 0.0 mechanics encourages blobs while FW mechanics discourages blobs. In 0.0, I have plenty of time to move my giant "safe" blob from system to system dealing with timers as they come up. In FW, you need to spread out and take as many plexes as possible using the bare minimum amount of people to take each plex in order to maximize the total number of plexes capped per unit time.

In the end I think the station lockout mechanic is what is driving most of the pvp in FW.
Tying plexes to sovereignty forces us to be out in space and available for fights (and not spinning ships in station).
The LP for plexes allows us to stay "on field" for long periods of time without having to take time out to go PVE.
The system is distorted when one side decides to not defend a system - then it turns into boring PVE just like grinding for SOV when the losing side chooses to not defend. This is an EVE-wide phenomena in that the "winner" still has to do a lot of structure/plex grinding to prove he has actually won.
The criticism of farmers in plexes is pretty much something we have to live with. Farmers are gonna farm. It has been reduced by quite bit (Caldari were at 75k VP/day before the "October surprise" patch!). It is creeping back up and I hope CCP can tune the plex rats accordingly. (T1 frigs should not be able to kill the rats in a medium plex!).
IMO, the tier system is here to stay and at least it has been dialed down a bit so that everybody can stay and fight in FW even at Tier 1. It's a shame that farmers will jump onto the side with the highest Tier. All we can hope for is that CCP can adjust the plex rats accordingly to slow their progress.
L4 missions are a bit out of line with the rest of the rewards, but CCP whatever said they want people to be able to farm stuff in low sec to get it more populated. So, IMO there's nothing we can do about it other than run them ourselves to make massive LP in a short amount of time.
Other than that, I hope CCP buffs the empire faction cruisers soon because I have about 80 of them mothballed in station waiting to be used. Free the ENI! |

These are all good and valid points, but the "blob" has simply taken another form in FW compared to null. A faction may not have the largest fleet to "blob" an enemy, but they can have the most farmers to "blob" the warzone. If this "blob" was the pvpers, then fine, they are holding a system 23.5/7, but it's not. PvPers might go scare off some farmers, but they'll just move to another system and come back later. Sovereignty in FW is all just another grind with a different face than 0.0.
Still, I do like the FW sov grind more, but lets not sing it's praises against 0.0 because it's not THAT much better. Say what you want about "blobs" in 0.0, but there if you want to take a solar system from someone, you must have the ability to beat them in a PvP engagement; not orbit buttons while they are asleep and then ninja-killing the ihub in 5 minutes.
If there was some way to actually defend an IHUB, I think it would make the system a lot better. Right now, people either ninja it, or if an enemy fleet shows up they peace out and do it later. On top of that, the defender simply wants them to take the system because it's easier and gives more LP to just replex it back yourself. The mechanic should be that if you successfully "defend" the IHUB, the whole system resets back to 0% vulnerable. It could just be a long king-of-the-hill plex timer, forcing you to stay on field and defend the thing (which would probably create some pretty epic battles), whatever. |

Farmers do not affect sov in home systems. They affect sov in far off areas where nobody else cares to operate. The sov map doesn't have an "importance scale", but you should. And when you filter the map through that lens, fighting for sov is more fun. (Basically, kick the damn bastards out of their home/mission systems!)

IHUBS are just another EHP impediment designed to get an occasional large fleet fight. They are boring and ought to be removed. Sov should be on a sliding scale from -100% to 100%, with 0% being the defining point for sovereignty. Station lockouts ought to occur at +/- X% (maybe 33%) so that there is a time where both sides can dock in the same system (because it reflects a time when nobody really "owns" the system).

Not sure if it is possible to let it reset like that or what should constitute a 'defense', but the problem is very real and what was designed to b major fleet battle magnets has become <5 minute ninja dread drop (or gayer still farming SB swarms).
Here is what I'd do: - Triple all defensive VP (not LP) until next DT once a system goes vulnerable. Makes emergency defensive plexing (ie. saving vulnerable) much more viable and forces an attacker to pursue defenders aggressively .. if we can't have a bunker fight, lets have plex fights!
- If a vulnerable system exists at DT it will be at 75% contested when server comes back up. Put in to prevent obvious exploit of above. Since farmers are the main VP earners and are generally not doing their thing when a bunker fleet is possible some amount of reigning in of farmers should occur from those interested in occupancy.
Note: That is only if LP stays as part of the plexing part in the first place, which I am entirely against |

Yeah, I mean I agree with this. I'll join a fleet and plex for a long time if we're specifically going for an enemy staging/missioning system. It just sucks that we will usually be at tier 1 or tier 2 all of the time. Not for me in particular, as I don't make my money in FW, but there are guys who use it to sustain their pvp habits. And frankly, tier 1 or even tier 2 produces pretty bad isk/hr. On that scale it's hard to ignore. I'd also like to see them remove tiers altogether, as our un-equal farming alt problem would likely go away.

I don't know, I like the idea of having a "finish" to a system. And I like large-medium fleet fights, which we rarely if ever see in FW. I agree that what we have is ok and that we can live with it...but as I'm sure you're aware, we should push to make it better :P |

I strongly disagree with this. This is what makes FW different than the rest of Eve.
You are happy with the current system because it revolves around being in the biggest blob which you happen to enjoy. This is all they have done with FW, is created null sec like blob warfare. It doesn't matter that the timing is different and we don't smash sov structures.. It still just revolves around who can bring the most numbers.. (pretty much CCP's motto for getting more subs, but it actually kills the game, as we have seen with the emptiness of null sec)
Also saying you need to dominate 3 plex sizes is really not true. When you bring a big enough blob you really only need 2 ship sizes, frigs & destroyers. With the frig & dessie buff's they are more than enough when you have 40 of your closest BFF's sitting in the system with you.
This is the problem with FW is that it's become nothing but blob warfare and there is no real tactics out side of bring MOAR people. We already have that with null sec Sov war, we didn't need it with FW as well, which was one of the few places where small gang PVP was possible.
The old system was 100 times better because it forced the blobs to spread out if they had a specific target system in mind, because they had to search the entire region for plexes. This meant that a small out numbered group still had a chance to fight back unlike today system of once you out number the other side it's just sit in system with it locked down waiting for plex re-spawns every 30 mins.
Add in the LP farmers doing all the work and the whole system is a bigger joke than current null sec Sov War system.
I'd really love to know who it was at CCP that honestly said "hey guys, I have a great idea for FW, lets give them LP for farming plexes that cause station locks outs". Serious who honestly thought that would actually not create the hundreds of farmers that have essentially ruled the Sov War since it started not the PVPers. |

Small gang PvP happens all the time in all parts of the warzone.
This isn't WoW; if you want a nice 10v10, 5v5, w/e matchup, that is your game. Unlike most people, I won't trash you for playing it. To each his own.The problem is your definition of "Blob", and people bitching about it. "OMG we only have two people and you brought four, BLOBBERS!". "MOAR people" is a valid tactic and has been used since the beginning of EVE, and the beginning of time. It hasn't "become" this way, it has always been this way and it's simply not going to change. This game is about finding an advantages, manipulating it, and using it to fight on your terms.
Whining about, "The Blob" is an archaic, ignorant and cliche excuse that has never accomplished anything and never will. There is always a bigger fish. Learn to adapt.

FW sorely needs some way to make up for all those (much needed) consequences or we may well end up with the 2 militia's that the doomsayers (I am not included in that bunch, not that dark .. yet) predict, farming away "against" their own alts.
Tried pushing for a Roman Empire type of diminishing return, where keeping ones territory grew harder the bigger one got back after the FF presentation, and still think it is, if not the only way, then the best way to mitigate the effect of farmers on the war (assuming farmers stays because "CCP will not dictate how people should play" (CCPSW paraphrase)). Adjust the tiers so that all things being equal, both sides of a conflict has 'normal' earnings at tier3, getting higher tier (and enemy lower) makes you more money but enemy gets a reduction in time needed to close a plex .. add a barracks/garrison entry to end of system upgrade path to lessen the time bonus by one notch (ie. each tier below 3 is one notch, f.ex. 15-20%).
Lots of hoops one can jump to limit farming as the primary driver of occupancy. Box is too crowded, go outside!

This is why FW and largely this game has become boring, because no one can really go out and get real solo anymore unless you fly a frig. Sorry but I didn't skill up 70 mil some odd skill points to fly frigs & dessies that I could fly with a 10 mil SP alt.
Dont blame the gatecampers, they are doing what they need to do to win
Blame the 250 guys in Amarr Militi chat not willing to form up 25 man fleet to take the camp down
The other day there was talk about getting a 30-40 man fleet up to push out a minnie fleet, but all that was talked about in chat was "whats the point? they will just run away and not fight"
ok......well thats still a win
but no one was willing to do it, i guess cuz it wouldnt pad there KB |

I've been getting lots of PvP in the Amarr area. Minmatar (aka Hookbill murdering scum) do seem to like to fight and will even reship and comeback for revenge while you are still looting their wrecks. The smaller warzone is also great - Cal/Gal warzone is a pain to get around compared to the Amarr/Minny zone.

No, it has always been this way. You're just complaining. You are complaining about being "blobbed" while you are out solo? Are you for real? Newsflash: EVE is a **** solo game, it always has been and it always will. Go play DayZ; it's a fun game. Perhaps when you started in 2011 it was already very blobby. When I started in 2009 It was very possible to fly around in BC's & Cruisers and get decent solo fights. The best fun I ever had in this game was just randomly taking my Vexor or Myrmidom out with no scout and just fighting what ever I came across. Yes there were blobs & gate camps, but it was nothing like it is today. I didn't even need a scout alt back then to fly a BC or cruiser like you pretty much have to have today.
It wasn't all rainbows & unicorns but it was a much better game due to the player base than what we have today where everyone is scared to fight with out some kind of advantage, be it numbers, better ship, booster what ever. It was just much easier to find decent fights away from the gangs.
EVE is a MMO it's a sand box, you trying to say it's not a solo game is like trying to say everyone should be forced to mine. A sand box means it's ok to play it how you want, be that mining, solo PVP or being the 50th guy on a 5 mil SP Merlin KM. To each there own, but what I'm saying is it used to be much more balanced in the ability to get that solo & small gang PVP vs today where all you find is guys that wont fight unless they have their 15 friends 1 jump away. |

That post reads like something out of a third grade squabble, no content or relevancy, with the sole purpose seemingly being to indicate that you do not take kindly to being argued against.
Remember back in the day, when you joined the war before omni-present links and regular TZ determined blobbage, when we did it for fun and neither profit nor KB stuffing? That is what we the majority (ie. not you) want back, what we are debating and no amount of empty posts in defence of the broken status quo to keep the farms running is likely to change that. Once CCP has statistically relevant metrics (LP/VP/Kills/etc.) for the December changes sometime in the spring, do you honestly believe there will be no tweaks or downright uprooting to/of existing mechanics?
Here is a challenge for you: Participate constructively.
NB: I shall likely never have the privilege of showing you the door in game as I steer clear of linked gank squads/fleets when out and about so smacking you around in a condescending manner here on the forums will have to do.
Now, let's get back to the business at hand and see if we can't compile a list of topics to discuss the coming year until CCP diverts their gaze back our way after null has been sorted/pacified. |

I, too, can write up long polemics about high-sec mining, station trading, and C5 Sleeper loot balance. But my opinion would be worth less than that of the players who actually engage in those activities on a day to day basis. And rightfully so.
All this forum theory-crafting is about as painful as watching EFT warriors go at it. It's roughly the equivalent. |

Bring something that can kill frigs??? If you worry about 5 frigs, then what would you do if we had like oooh scary destroyers. If you used your brain cells to think about what you just said perhaps you might figure out why some of us are no longer playing. Many of us find no interest in the existing status quo of what FW has become. I stuck with it for quite a while as I saw the change push it in a direction I didn't like where it was going. I tried it and didn't like it, now I've become vocal as to why the changes are bad.
Just like when you Gal's used to ***** and whine all the time about down time plex advantage or EW NPCs. You guys complained for years about it and finally it was changed. You guys didn't plex at all or play the Sov War game because you felt it was broken. Hence the reason I no longer play FW because I feel it's broken and needs fixed. |

Because not playing the Sov War affected your game in no way out side of bragging rights, at that time. You were not forced to play a broken part of the game in order to be able to dock in your home system.

Not really. In those days the squids were full of guys who would speed tank plexes, warp out at the first sign of trouble, and/or stab their merlins for good measure. At least the merlin only had two low slots, so a faction scram could catch them. |

Bad Messenger,
I kindly request you to delete this post and act as it never happened. If by a mischance a CCP game designer see this, he might decide it's a brilliant idea and apply it to null-sec.
Btw we're leaving Factional Warfare as it's current state is neither beneficial nor fun for our corporation. Of course we'll keep some farming alts on the winning side to pay for our accounts ;) |

You do realise that caldari are scoring more vp than gallente right? I mean its been said a dozen times, just wondering if it could possibly sing in at some point, that would be wonderful :)
Do you realize that the Gal plex farmers farming away at Amarr systems do not count toward victory point totals, and that defense VP counts more than offensive just like the percentages of occupancy. Same with any Minmatar that might happen to be plexing Caldari systems. (Min's aren't as big of a problem now but they were at the start of this)
This was the same argument that was said when if was Caldari farmers plexing and Gals were very close to the same VP's as Caldari but the effort showed very little effect. Lets also not forget that Gals simply do not have many systems to plex at the moment, meaning if Caldari took several systems the Gal VP's would skyrocket as all the farmers moved back in. |
