If the Vexor gets +1 drone/lvl why's it got a smaller bay than the Thorax? |

Because when they did the big cruiser changes, the drone bay on t-rax was to be reduced to 1K m3 and everyone went ape**** until finally the idea was tossed.

It's a platform for medium drones, not heavies... A tech 1 cruiser that can launch 15 heavies would just be a bit ridiculous...

And it's not ridiculous that the Thorax can launch more heavies than the Vexor... a crusier class drone carrier? I think they should be swapped, so at least I can have 5 meds as backup in my bay. But that's just me. I also agree it'd be really unbalanced if the Vexor could field 15 heavies, but that'd require 3750m3, and we're not asking for that much.
In fact, I think it would make a lot of sense if the Vexor had 2000m3, that makes it's drone bay in perfect scale with the Ishtar... Ishtar can fit 20 heavies, would be nice if the Vexor would fit 20 meds. Just wishful thinking, I guess.
Ishtar, here I come.

The Thorax is ridiculous for a cruiser in general. Even though the MWD/cap bonus is no longer so great after MWDs have sig hits its still probaply the best tech 1 cruiser in the game...

Maybe because Thorax is somwhere closer to how effective cruiser should be than rest of the crap?...

The two ship are really suited towards different roles: The Vexor is better against frigates, with its swarm of medium and light drones, while the Thorax is better against larger ships. I can see the two being quite complimentary that way.
Oh, and I absolutely love the MWD bonus on the Thorax. Before this bonus, it was a fair to middling cruiser. Now that it has the bonus, it can perform as you would expect in combat.

Beyond the drone bay, the thorax isn't actually that hot, the drone bay however lets you use frig guns and plates, which makes up in large part the lack of defense cruisers have. While it still has access to most of it's offense. But as the only t1 heavy drone cruiser in game, ( Vexor is a medium drone cruiser ) it does serve a very nice role. That the roles of other cruisers can be less PvP effective is perhaps something to look into for those other cruisers.
Although I must say I'm much happier with my 10 meds I use now, then I ever was with my 8 heavies. Ofcourse there's the slight detail of the other stats of the deimos vs the thorax.
Oh and anyone that says the mwd bonus sucks, seriously needs to get a clue...

An armor tanked thorax with small neutron blasters or 150 rails and a 2000 drone bay is arguably the most overpowered cruiser in game. QUITE a bit better than the Vexor. The only setup I have come close to beating that in if the thorax landed within 15K is a Maller with small beams and a heavier armor tank with some NOS.
I use it because it works.

Personally i think its not overpowered, i think its how cruisers should be. They dont get insta gibbed by BS and 2-4 of them can pose a BS problems.
As for the 1600 plate setup, its great but nothing beats heavy blasters and ripping anything apart in a blink of an eye

Wouldn't it be better to use 10 mediums + 4 heavies? Not sure but won't that do more damage + overall tracking/speed.
After cruisers are given a good agility buff and perhaps other changes, the rax's dronebay needs to be nerfed to 1000m3. It's stupid that the tech 1 drone cruiser of EVE has less drones then the thorax
Does the Megathron have more drones then the Dominix?

Maybe the Thoraxes MWD bonus could be swiched from eliminating the cap hit to eliminating the sig hit whent the dronebay is nerfed. That would make the bonus a bit more meaningful, since cruiser + MWD with sig hit = deathwish...

Vexor is a great little ship.
I fly the vexor-class ishtar, but used to fly the vexor..
The Vexor with the drones and rails + nos, makes a nice little anti-frig pvp ship.
For base cruisers though, the Thorax is pretty s****y, I must admit.

I agree Eyeshadow, and mostly in a small group where I'm not likely to be called first target, I fit 5 electron blaster IIs, mwd, web, scramble, med rep II, 1 hardner, 2 cap relays and 1 mag stab II (setup thanks to Lorth).

This statement (sorry Alexander - you not the only one who made it) is such an absolute load of crap that Weirda is crying laughing from it.
Can't speak for other races... But would happily wtfpwnbbqwhatuhaveforbreakfast any thorax, any day of the week (except tuesday) with a stabber or rupture... close range fitted...
