Just posting to ask, do you think its worth training for T2 large railguns for my megathron, will they make a huge diferance or what, as i am loath to commit to a month or so of skill training to disscover they are crap

They will hit 20% (+ whatever you have large hybrid spec at) harder than standard tech I. At large hybrid rail spec V, you'll hit 30% harder ;p

32% harder to be exact ( 1.2*1.1 ) ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Edited by: Jim Steele on 09/06/2005 15:11:20 I cant speak for T2 hybrids, but T2 lasers have most impressed me
T2 guns also have a slightly better range for example T2 pulse on a apoc kill from 15k as opposed to 11k (with my skills and MF), well what does that mean?
It means you can reduce tracking by being further from your target thus scoring more hits and hence having more damage, it also means if closing in from distance you can fire sooner meaning he dies quicker

I'd rather go with t2 1400 howies (which, maybe, I will)....
They use (almost) no cap, have higher damage mod = better ammo efficiency = more rounds left to engage something else, need less CPU, scare the crap outa of your targets with their per-volley damage and lastly, they sound so lovely (I have my sound disabled most of the time, but I turn it on just to hear them)!
I'm kinda torn here... On the one hand, I absolutely love blasters (and my blastethron), but can't stand those damn rails and their crappy damage for such high cap usage, not to mention their fitting reqs.
On the other hand, I love 1400's, their longer falloff ranges, all the different types of damage you can deal and their per-volley omgwtfwasthatoneone. Autocannons are bit of mystery to me as I haven't had the chance to use them yet, but I guess the 6 of them wouldn't compare very favourably vs the 7 of t2 neutrons on a blastethron. Basically, those T2 blasters are the only thing that keeps me from going Minie all the way now. Also, choosing one system over another would also predetermine my BS 5 choice and, hence, put me at the mercy of CCP with regard to T2 version and how well it turns out. I'm hoping to avoid another Caldari Cruiser 5 fiasco.
So, I have this dilemma of having to make a choice of what to specialize in, which I haven't yet been able to figure out... Oh ,well...

Edited by: Rod Blaine on 10/06/2005 08:49:17 1400's are top for burst damage, but those tech2 rails you dont like much do heaps more damage over time. I know, tempest ftw for large groups, but definately mega ftw in smaller ones and against anything not another player.
Oh, and I tend to not fit 7 425mm's and 7 damage mods. That fitting is kinda retarded imo and will only lead to a siwft death or a boring evening. _______________________________________________

Edited by: VossKarr on 10/06/2005 09:08:33 The thing I like about howies, and the Tempest in general is that you can fit a pretty decent shield tank (XL SB, 3 hardeners and 1 PWNAGE) on it, while having a gank (5 gyros) setup in lows.
Granted you have almost no cap recharge but still, with max cap skills (which I have) and thanks to no cap use on 1400's, it will probably last you long enough to kill whatever you're shooting at - I have had some successes with it on deadspace missions (lvl4) involving several npc battleships, cruisers, inties at once and it did get me through... PWNAGE made this setup shine.
Megathron wouldn't have stood a chance against those groups if fitted (which it unfortunately can't) with a similar setup...
