My fershlugginer indy has been wallowing around the exit of a station for the last 20 minutes, 4 AB's blasting as hard and as often as my cap will permit, and it just sits there looking like a peripatetic goldfish with terets.
I can't change where I am going because YOU CAN'T CANCEL WARP DRIVE, can't even navigate when it is active (LAUGH), I can't even bloody well dock.
YOUR PHYSICS BLOWS
if you really feel you have to futz with something, FUTZ WITH THAT.
The only trhing I can think of doing is to exit the game and try get the damned indy moving in another direction. NOT THE BEST IDEA, but what other option do I have? Sit back and watch it do its impression of the dance of the sugar plum fairies on acid?
overall satisfaction rating is really starting to plummet here

Yeah, my mammoth gets stuck on stations a lot as well if I don't wait a while after exiting station before going to warp.
The only way I have found to get unstuck is to exit the game to make warp shut off so I can move off the station wall.
Nice fix would be to just make warp shut off when you give the stop ship command. I see no reason why you can't shut warp off manually.

I was thinking the same thing, it's really annoying to try to target a far-away planet, and then accidentally selecting the sun instead and watching the planet zoom by, unable to stop the warp. * * *

The ability to shut off warp used to be an option. It was removed because a common tactic was to start warp drives for the purposes of breaking target locks on your vessel, then cancel the warp. So now, when you choose to engage your warp drive, you must follow through with such actions.

I do agree that any problems that cause ships to adhere to some form of mass, should be tracked down and fixed; I don't think a way to get out of warp should be available.
If a pilot makes a mistake in pressing warp and really didn't mean it, then that pilot should take the consequences of making a wrong decision and have to allow the action to complete.
Now if technology (Module?/Skill?) in the future allows for a way to stop a warp engine from completing, then so be it. :-)

I like the idea of canceling warp, though I think it should have harsh consequences for doing such actions such as: Make it use up a certain percentage of capacitor for warming up the warp drive as well as pressing the emergency warp drive shutoff switch. Or perhaps ship damage for popping out of the "warp tunnel" prematurely. These are just suggestions.

With cancel warp option it would be impossible to tail pilots running from a battle. Pvp battles are rare enough as it is I think.
I agree ships stuck in stations are irritating though, especially if you're just travelling through a system and just happen to warp in next to one. If you could dock even if warp had been initiated, the problem would be solved. Can't see many exploits arising from that either.. |

Or having autopilot on while traveling and the ship gets stuck trying to escape from the station. It happened twice to me just now and took forever to warp to my destination.
