I'm getting my figures wrong I think, so can somebody please explain how the yield on the osprey works.
I've got Caldari cruiser 4, Astrogeo 5, mining 5.
I get 108 ore per minute on my miner2s, which is a yield of 1.8 compared to the base yield of 60. By my calculations this gives the cruiser bonus, BUT NOT the skills bonus.
By my calculations I should have 2.25 yield (.25 - astro, .2 mining, .8 cruiser, plus base of 1)
Can somebody correct me on this please.

ore per minute or m3 of ore per minute?
with those skills it should be
60 x 1.25 x 1.25 x 1.8 = 168.75m3 per laser, per minute.
While in space, right click your mining laser and read its ore m3 per minute, under "Mining Amount"

60 = units per minute/t2 mining laser
5%=1.05=multiplier for each level of mining
5%=1.05=multiplier for each level of Astrogeology
20%=1.20=ship bonus for each level of caldari cruiser.
the above is pretty much what the previous post took into account which is correct. However, with eve bonuses act like compound interest. i.e. the interest becomes the principal and each subsequent skill increase effects already mutated values.
1.25 for level5 of mining in above is actually 1.05^5 which is 1.276281 this is what your multiplier would be at mining l5 with no skills i.e 1.276281. So lets say you up to astrogeology to one you now take 1.276281 and multiply that times 1.05 giving you the product 1.340095640625. So as we can see this problem is essentially:
(1.05^mining level)*(1.05^astro. level)*(1.20^caldari cruiser level).
In your case you should be looking @:
(1.05^5)*(1.05^5)*(1.20^4)
or
202.66055388514215 m3/ per minute/per laser for a grand total of
607.98166165542645 m3/ per minute/ for 3 lasers.

I have to agree with canned beef that the figures are not compund interest within the same skills. They are multiplied as was suggested, 1.25*1.25*1.8 and these do give 168m3 per miner2, at least they do on mine. I wish it was compund within mining and astro but they do not seem to be applied as such.
To Jarmon, petition if the figure stays at 108 as it appears that the mining and astro skills are not affecting it.

Its not compound interest. Its 1.25*1.25*etc, not 1.05^5. This is a fact and can be tested with any skill in the game.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought,
Just logged back on today, and it appears to have corrected itself, and I am now getting proper yields from the lasers....

How does an Osprey with full skills compare to bs for mining?

With the 20% per level of the Osprey, at lvl5 its like having another laser. since you can only fit 3 that makes it like 6. an apoc has 8 plus a larger drone capacity. the Osprey can only fit 8 mining drones (i think).
Thats if you look at it from the lowest level. Since the other skills are a percetage i presume a BS gets better and better.

It is true that the BS is still better than an Osprey, but the investment differential in start p capital needs to be applied. Since I STILL cannot affor a BS to mine with, my Osprey with caldari cruiser 5 is pretty smokin and for like 100 million less isk!!!

Its easier to mine then with a destroyer and use the xecl miners.
During that time, you train for the barge skill and get one of those.
Before barges came out, osprey was good option.
Looking back now, i regret picking the caldari bs road, combination of a X gun BS and barge skill is better overal mining.

5 * 20% = 100%, so the 3 mining lasers on an Osprey are as effective as 6 on a Dominix.

True, but the Domi is still a better miner, because it can mine anywhere, under any conditions. Just wanted to put some perspective on that...
