Hey all,
I've just started playing EVE, earlier today, not really done anything except for the tutorial. But i was thinking there has to be more people like me here, who are complete newbies to this game. The reason for this post is that I'm always on MSN/ICQ when im at work, and when at home but unable to play (cause of my girlfriend), and i was hoping to add some people to my contact lists so that us newbies can help each other out and just chat about the game. The most boring things with a new mmorpg is that you really dont have alot of friends this early into the game, and i hope this might be a cure to it. I've done it once with the last mmorpg i played and some people i kept in touch with for my entire time there (2+ years).
Well, enough rambling from me, if you want to you can add me on ICQ (65819798) or MSN ([email protected]).

try chatting in the corp channel to begin forming friends or joing a corp. Mining corps are best as they are more open and friendly like [not saying pvp corps are unfriendly its just that you dont like newbies for some reason something about spy alts].

Yes, newbies are often spy alts. But many corps accept newbies. Hell, even Hadean Drive Yards (large corp in FIX alliance) accepts low-skilled players. Just look around. -- The best description of alliances, ever:

Yeah thats exactly what i thought would happen. I havent encountered it yet, but i know in other mmorpgs with an already establishen community it can often be hard for a newbie to find new people to talk to. And a MMORPG with no friends or people to chat to about your experiences becomes boring quickly, at least it does for me. I need that social bit aswell, it goes hand in hand with the gaming experience in my opinion.
So as i said people can add me to their contacts list if they so wish, or try and find me ingame (Trippox).

Joining a corp enhances your social options manifold.
Joining and idling on the eve related irc channels, ingame channels, and ingame help channels does so as well and get you valuable information.
Local channel lends itself less to soacialising since most people in it will be moving through, not hanging around. _______________________________________________
