PRNGs have the sometimes-desirable property of reproducibility. If you're doing any of the family of machine learning algorithms that harness randomness and you get really good results on one run and someone else wants to reproduce your work, it's helpful to be able to hand them your source code and the seed you used. With 'real' random numbers, every run is irreproducible. |
