Edited by: kessah on 13/06/2005 02:47:55 Do you think it would be possible for the event organisers and "writers" to spark up the war again? Would be great for players to get involved in that!! Perhaps Caldarians can reclaim there old home world?
Would love to see diplomacy fail between these two races and have a war? Hell id even settle for a Cold War. Be great to hear rumours of a secret build up of arms by both races and finally mebbie an unoficial war. I think the event organisers and role players are great!!
Had alot of fun 2day in sydicate when we had an event, an ORE convoy with t2 haulers and some battleships and frigate traveled through ehehehehe Teddies and TDG caught one of the haulers and ransomed his pod.
Was Very funny how the event player begged for his life in local pleding for his life and telling us he had a family.
So id like to say a big thanks for that guys really made eve alot more fun for me than the usual camp gank smack camp routine. --------------------------------------------------------

Do you read background material? Both Caldari and Gallante know that if they get locked in another war the Amarrians are going to whipe the floor with whoever is left and end up conquering the entire known universe.
It's the balance of power that really counts here, amarrians will take over if anyone loses their position of power by starting a war with another empire, and an alliance? The amarrians will never share power, gallante and caldari can't stand each other, and nobody likes Minmatar, you just petend to like them so you can point out how evil the empire is...

IMO, we're more likley to see a reduction in Amarrian power than an increase with all the internal conflict currently within the empire.
But I also think the possibility of the Gallente Caldari war starting up again is remote if not impossible.

This could be cool only if it were for events and was voluntary. I gave up being caldari long ago and operate out of gallente space, and hold a high standing with them. I'd hate to see all my work erased because now gallenteans and caldari are fighting a war and i happened to pick the wrong race 2 years ago.

Well pod pilots are not really all that much part of a specific race, they may be born as caldaris or gallanteans, but pretty much form their own society... Pod pilots make up a certain elite in the Eve universe, only a tiny percentage of the population in the universe acctually lives in space, and of those only an equally tiny percentage has the training to use pods. Pod pilots get access to cloning, the law doesn't apply to them as it would to a normal citizen and so forth. Basicly pod pilots are above the system in many ways, because they are in such short supply *cough* at least according to the story. Because of this division between "mere mortals" and pod pilots, simply being born in a certain race doesn't mean you would have to fight for them in a war or would become a target of another race if a conflict broke out. Both sides would probaply try to get you to fight for them, allowing you to make a choice, or stay out of it alltogether...

Actually, the war ended because both empires made first contact with the much larger amarr empire. Since then, Gallante have had poor relations with the amarr, whilst the Caldari have capitolized on good relations and trade.

You don't really think that the amarr empire has any real interest in working together with a plutocratic power - the amarrians just also realise that they can beat two, but not three of the other races... so they just picked the least of three evils to get close enough to to prevent the three others from coming together...

I guess you didnt read the amarr story when they sent a huge fleet of over 100+ apoc and were decimated by a jovian mother ship and her support fleet.

I think it is already happening with the slaves.
You got the Gallente cautiously optimastic and on the mimmie side, but the mimmie are also going bat **** insane. You Ammarr going to be ****d beyond belief. The Caldrai though pleading neautraily are surely going to **** off everyone and proably the scapegoats. Lets see, one of their scientist made a cure to the slave drug, they hid this knowldege, and they also use to sell chips for slave control that are now about to become super profitable again since the drug no longer works. Oh, how convient. This will **** off the Ammarr in the end because they think the Caldrai planed it all and don't aggressivly chase down blood raiders. The Mimmies will be ****ed that though they are against slavery they will contiune to sell the Amarr chips to bound their brothern and the Gallente. The Gallente are just going to be ****ed because they will view all sides as being true. Espically the getting rich off keeping once freed slaves into slavery.
In the end, we will have a cold war as the Gallente and mimmie won't do anything fearing that the amarr will make a move to take over while the Caldaria are on the "I have no thoughts" chair.

Why does it have to be the stupid, stereotypical "gallente and minmatar vs amarr and caldari" war?
What if the gallente voted mentas blaque and became a dictatorship, the amarr, as they are becoming very destabilized got ****ed at the caldari for making insorum, and allied against the caldari? Caldari and minmatar might ally out of desparation.

I'd like to see the Minmatar and Caldari go at it. Perhaps a Caldari corporation created the drug and the Caldari State is reluctant to force the corporation to disclose its research? Both the Caldari and Minmatar states are heavily reliant on seperate factions (corps and tribes) working together so it would be easy to create an incident with a rogue faction attacking to gain info or protect its interests.

The jovians wouldn't get involved in a war unless someone atacks them first. There is just nothing they can possibly gain. They simply don't need anything you could gain by atacking or protecting someone.
Caldari/Minmatar relations are down the tubes also, because of that buisiness we had recently with some military ship forcing its way into a station or something. Caldari are just making it awfully clear that they don't care what anyone else thinks, and by now nobody can really like them anymore.
And we still have to wait for the outcome of the Gallante Election. If Mentas Blaque is elected we might just see the Syndicate declare independence and join with Caldari - afterall, the Intaki always were sympathetic to the Caldari cause, and if the Federation is no longer a place where Intaki enjoy equal rights they might just be better off as Caldari.

If it weren't for the details of history, philosophically and ideologically, it would be the Gallente and the Caldari coming together against the Matari and the Amarr in the name of profit and abstraction to counter against community, social obligation, national autonomy, and a panapoly of other Aristocratic virtues.
Of course, they can do that with peace as well as war. History wouldn't be nearly as interesting without Hegelian tragedy though.
The galaxy could do with some all out war right about now. Not being able to pass beyond the skirmish lines unless you help them advance would be really interesting. Picking (or changing) sides should be necessary unless you prefer to be cast into space not already controlled.
It could make cloak technology a lot more interesting, although travel mechanics would have to be changed. Hopefully, the environment will respond to gradual pressure.

look at the gall bs the dom is a warship from the cald gall war, ow thas freaking old and im not sure that the megatron is all that much younger. about the only thing other fleets have over the caldari is numbers. in the end i belive that the gall would get there asses handed to them an amarrians would look the other way.

I think the only way Caldari will engage in a war is in direct support of they're Khanid allies. I personally don't find the bond between Caldari and Amarr to be particularly strong. If war breaks out and Emperor Khanid wants to sit back and enjoy the show I wouldn't expect much caldari resistance. Though the Khanid are staying pretty quiet in this recent upheval even though its right in they're backyard. I wouldn't be suprised if they have a trump card they're wating to play

It's not about what the people want, it's about what the power elites want. And right now, some of them are making money hand over fist provided Amarr and Caldari relations stay tight. They really don't care about the past with the Gallente as that was their ancestor's war.
Some people aren't profitting by this elite form of solidarity, however, and will manipulate the feelings of the masses or middle class at least for a spectacle of some sort. This may be war if those elites out of power can profit by it.
Of course, I may not be telling you the whole story and am just looking to protect my own butt so that I may continue to frolick in non-wartime diversion in my preferred enclaves that cater to elite Gallentean decadence.

The Caldari fleet is not the most powerful... The Caldari have the most powerful military compared to the size of their state, but since they are the smallest of all empires they are still no match for Amarr in terms of military power.
Minmatar is a total X-factor in terms of military, nobody really knows how many ships they have, and since they don't use conventional strategies their military is completly unpredictable. They probaply wouldn't be able to defend their systems for very long but the difference to all other races is that if you take away their home turf you instantly have thousands of terrorists on your hands...
And the Caldari Navy is the newest, but that doesn't mean much. Afterall, the main driving force in the State is profit, and what better way to make profit then to sell your own new ship designs to the state you controll at the same time.

Techonology, or numbers? Power or Computers? Bigger guns or Bigger defences? all Races are roughly equal with one or more of the above.
I find that all the stories are more to do with the pirate factions against there own national state.
I really want to see the Jovians brought into this game eventually. Perhaps the caldari or gallente find a cure for there diease even tho they ran from it, give that race new technology for it & perhaps the BPO's get stolen and eventually relised, Thus bringing the other races up2 par with the Joves or at least become a threat.

Join the Amarr Navy and all of a sudden you can goto war with the <insert other race here> Navy.
Of course it can only be NPC combat corps you could war with.

They don't need to profit from it immediately. The idea will be to claim gallente space and steal their resources. And I think YOU're forgetting that the Caldari and Gallente have a point of contention that could spark off a war in times of weakness on the Gallente side such as this. The old Caldari homeworld was claimed by the Gallente Federation during the Gallente-Caldari war. I'm sure they'd try to take it back if they could and if a war begins, this will be the first battlefield.
