Try to distance yourself from your character's alignment and remember all of this is fiction.
Then answer me which of the terms:
- The Caldari invaded Caldari Prime
- The Caldari reclaimed Caldari Prime
is the most unbiased statement in regard to the events that happened in YC 110. CEO - Ataraxia Pharmacies Biography |

They are actually not necessarily opposed. Caldari prime was, then, part of the Galente Federation, thus undoubtedly the Caldari invaded the planet. But, politically, Caldari-wise they also liberated it from the oppresors of those who had invaded it first.
As for reclaiming, in EvE it is a term that is related to amarrian faith, so I doubt it would apply too well to the case. Sepherim Catillah; Ex-Imperial Navy Officer |

Reclaiming is out of the picture, it would involve either enslaving or converting the Caldari and gallente on Caldari Prime. As Caldari Prime is supposed to be Caldari, ( hence the name Caldari Prime, that even the Gallente use ) I think liberating is an acceptable term. Invasion is most neutral however as it does not denote affiliation or claim but is an unbiased fact. |

Invaded or reclaimed. The planet is certainly not liberated as the population did not exactly welcome them with open arms. |

Invaded is, in my opinion, the most objective term: Regardless of their claim or their intent towards Caldari Prime, there was a military action into enemy territory with the intent of establishing a permanent military presence in that territory. That's an invasion. |

An interesting question.
I think Sepherim is right when saying the suggested answers might not be opposed, but Esna highlights the key issue - intent.
While in military terms, the State's actions on Caldari Prime are very clearly an invasion, it is the intent that matters. The Caldari took back what was once theirs.
The Federation's claim to the planet might have some legitimacy to it as the Caldari joined the Federation, the planet was Federation territory before the Secession and remained Federation territory after the Caldari evacuation and exodus, but to that's a subjective viewpoint for the Gallente. From the Caldari perspective their homeworld was taken from them and they have now taken it back.
Mekhana provides a great example of just one aspect of how this issue has become complicated over time - the current demographics of the population.
In YC110 the majority of the population may very well have been of Gallente descent, content Federal citizens who, if asked in a referendum whether to be part of the Federation or State might all vote Fed, but this would not be the first time in human history (or far flung future) that a victor had imported a population to sway political assent. (see the Falkland / Malvinas Islands referendum due in March 2013 as a real world current events equivalent)
