So I started doing research on the game and talked to people in Eve and many are going to be playing both and since I will most likely be open beta with game I was wondering if there would be intrest in starting a pirate guild made of old Eve players willing to create a pirate guild in potbs that was well their version of m0o. Roaming the seas ganking everything in sight,claiming ports and just being evil. If so who wants in? Cuz pirates in Eve will have a DISTINCT advantage over 90% of the POTBS player base and even most of the devs in the fact that we know more about basic fleet tactics going into POTBS then the rest. So I want to exploit that to my advantage as much as possible and pwn people. NO I am not leaving Eve for POTBS just going to play both.

I think that Eve folks will have an edge when it comes to coordinating and target calling, but other than that it's going to require an entirely different outlook than eve.
POTBS uses firing arcs, which means you'll have to get everyone to point in the same direction at the same time in order to fire a broadside.
I've no doubt that Eve folks on teamspeak will utterly destroy any new players even if they (Blob?) from the teamwork they have learned here.
Should be fun though.

It'll last a year before they pull the plug on it as everyone not in this blob will leave the game inside a week.

A lot of the tactics will come down to the environment, unlike in Eve. Eg - firing with the wind behind you to aid with cannons' tracking and ships' manouveurability. Definitely looks worth a look. I'll be getting that if my video card will handle it.

Finally, my obsession with Naval history and combat can pay off.
Not sure my EVE background can help me here though, being a miner.

nearly ALL organized guilds use teamspeak and coordination mate. No matter what game they come from.

Hmmmmmm....Parmizan you me and Max and some of these guys need to make a IGA in POTBS and just quarantine off a section of the map in POTBS then raid and conqure the WORLD!!!!! Primary Target will be the FRENCH!!!!!!

I plan to be there, u guys can look me up. And I also have no doubt that the game will be dominated by Eve players who know how to use TS and fleet tactics. I cant wait to see the fleet battles in that game, gonna be INSANE!

good form,good form. The larger the fleet the better.
If we can get a full battle line up with two lines THAT would be great but people must remember to learn nautical terminology cuz on TS thats ALL I will use.

The one thing that puts me off POTBS is zoned pvp more so when that the pvp zones are going to be around pirate ports, and well thats about it.. so all carebears have to do is stay away from those areas, and make their riches.. which to me really does defeat the idea of being a pirate..

More importantly there is the color scheme of the sails, I think you can do that yourself. I'm thinking pink, but if not definetly something pastel. Maybe a giant flower, or a cuddly woodland creature....
I got it "Teh Badgers" with a badger on the sail of course, the animal not the industrial ship, and a pastel green background.
Edit: A cartoony style badger face, possibly giving the thumbs up, ala the Buddy Christ

except that they have said now there will be no death penalty and it will be WoW esque with you unable to attack your own faction and limited to who you can attack of others. This along with their 'instanced pvp' makes me feel uneasy. I'll still give it a go but I dont want WoW with ships :/

F-E are still in talks about what profession to go and what race, there isnt enough known atm to make a firm decision, but all i can say is watch out because more or less all the oldschool F-E will be there, its gona be fun

fe play lots of games, i think as long as u were in fe on here or other games and left on good standings or still in then i think u can join the guild on potbs.
Dont take that for sure though, thats just what i think it was last time i spoke about it.
I plan on going there. and doing the 'yarr' thing for real. NOT with this char name though (for some quite obvious reasons)
