If the Caldari hadn't hounded Dr. Hnolku and his wife -- chasing them halfway across the known universe before finally catching up to the good doctor and killing him -- the Blood Raiders would never have gotten the opportunity to kidnap Mrs. Hnolku.

Originally by: Rodj Blake I fear that you're banging your head against a brick wall here, Mr Sevar.
The average unenlightened Minmatar has trouble understanding the concept that theft is wrong.
A slaver lecturing on right and wrong is about as hypocritical as a Gallentean holovid star preaching abstinence.
I think that most of us understand that "right" and "wrong" are not black and white -- they exist in a moral continuum. "Theft" isn't nearly as far in the "wrong" direction as "murder of an unarmed human". And neither comes close on that scale to "enslaving billions of people".

Originally by: Dev Larren What of subsequent events? Who bears guilt in the death cause by the Blood Raider actions?
The H'K alliance sought to make the agent available and active. Subsequent events have seen that happen. What they actively sought has happened. Mens rea exists in this case and therefore they are open to accusations of guilt.
The U'K never made an official public statement regarding our plans for the antidote, should it fall into our hands. As such, your speculation regarding what we actively sought is exactly that -- pure speculation. The only party whose intentions in re Mabnen are both public and clear are the Blood Raiders, whose desire to create chaos in Amarr was publicly transmitted over this very channel.
As I understand it, the U'K as a matter of policy has no specific intent to disrupt the Amarran Empire, other than to the extent to which such disruption is required to free our people.
Finally, millions of our people are dead on Mabnen. How dare you accuse us of having actively sought this outcome!

Originally by: Van Cleef Pay special attention to the using the biological agent in aerosol form, and detonating battleships laden with the cure in orbit.
((ooc: Doh!)) Originally by: Van Cleef The Blood Raiders did EXACTLY what you suggested, and it caused the death of millions.
I stand by my statement that our primary goal is to free our people -- not to take lives. Had the doctor been able to deliver his knowledge and prototype to us, we would have taken steps to ensure that the newly freed slaves would have remained safe... and alive.
(Disclaimer: I do not speak for the Ushra'Khan.)

Originally by: Gorion Wassenar My argument remains. U'K prevented almost every involved party to this imbroglio from conducting operations in the Bleak Lands.
In *my* universe, there are nearly daily communiques from AM about the wonderful successes they've been having in the Bleak Lands. And CAIN was so intimidated by our war declaration that Messr Fleischer and Mme Helpdesk immediately came to Istodard to scout us.
Perhaps some organizations did indeed *choose* not to pursue operations in the Bleak Lands. If so, I would hope that they would take responsibility for that choice.

Originally by: Strikeclone You fight CAIN for following thier laws, you protect that which is not yours and you want a pat on the back.
We fight CAIN for a debt of honor, as they have killed someone we had sworn to protect. That is our way. What ISK is to you Caldari, honor is to us. And we neither ask for nor expect to receive a "pat on back" for it. Originally by: Strikeclone CAIN were fighting for their people, as it is the Caldari way that if you steal from the state or your corporation your life is forfeit.
I find this hard to believe. If I steal a single unit of Tritanium, my life is forfeit? That sounds like someone has failed to run a "cost-benefit analysis" on the problem. And all the bribes I've paid in Caldari space -- isn't that a form of theft? Originally by: Strikeclone How selfish are you and your kind? No wonder your families lie in chains
I feel so stupid. All along, I thought that my brothers and sisters were enslaved because the foul Amarran Empire, without provocation, came to our worlds and stole them, but apparently it's only my selfishness that has put them there.

Originally by: Strikeclone You talk of honour, yet you aide thieves, you fight for vengence for a complete stranger yet you deplore CAIN's actions for defending their state and their corporations!.
There is no honor in standing idly by while evil is being committed. Dr. Hnolku's conscience required him to steal the insorum prototype. He felt that it was dishonorable of the corporation to give greater weight to profit and political considerations than to the fate of billions of enslaved humans.
Indeed, he must have been aware that his actions would put his life and the life of his wife into jeopardy -- and yet he proceeded anyway. Later, he did not sell his services to the highest bidder. He asked only for protection in order to finish his work.
These are not the actions of a "thief".

Originally by: Strikeclone How does the fights against CAIN further your goals of freedom for your people?
They don't. Originally by: Strikeclone I would lay off the words honour and such if I were you as honour is a word like pirate that is much over used and less understood.
Very well, I agree. Originally by: Strikeclone "we shall interfere in anyones business regardless of laws national or international" is coming through loud and clear. But I think this is not the message you intend?
If you support slavery or slavers, then you are our enemy. This has always been true. By preventing Dr. Hnolku from delivering his knowledge to us, CAIN has chosen to support slavery. By murdering the doctor after the Ushra'Khan made a public pledge to protect him, *CAIN* chose to abandon any pretense of neutrality.
Do you believe that they regret that decision? If not, then why argue so vehemently that it is *we* who broke neutrality?

I'm sorry; I thought you were actually interested in hearing our point of view. If I had realized that your sole point was to be insulting, then I never would have engaged you in conversation.
