Hi,
Just started playing Eve with a friend of mine, and im really hooked already! Love that there is a rookie chat from which you actually get help from people, try finding that in other MMO's!?
My question is, since playing with a friend, is there things to do to keep playing with each other, like joining a corporation? Is there any missions you can do together?
Thanks for all the help already in the rookie chat! |

You can do pretty much every activity together.
Mining, missions, incursions, PvP.
You can both also join a corp. I am a new player (relative) and one bit of advice. Before you guys go out a join a corp try to determine what you want to do in the game and create a plan. Then only do activities that get you towards that goal. http://eveboard.com/pilot/Ronix_Aideron |

Welcome to Eve.
Yes, almost all activities in Eve can be done with others. Mining, Missions, Exploration, Pirating, etc.
Just Fleet up with your friend by r-clicking on his character and select 'Form Fleet'. When you complete agent missions, just select 'Share rewards with Fleet members'.
EDIT:
If you're going to join a Player Corp, make sure you check them out completely first, such as corp / alliance / member history (goggle). Fly with them a few weeks first before joining and don't give out your full api key or pay them ISK.

Note that when doing missions with a friend it's doing a mission for a single player that has help, not a "group mission", meaning that only the player that took the mission needs to bring back the objective and only that player counts for having it. You cannot take up the same mission for both of you and do it once, you'll need to run it for each fleet member. The Drake is a Lie |

Some advice for you. If you know for a fact that you are interested in doing one activity or a certain area of activities, then find a corp that is newbie friendly and focused on it. The best place to find a corp is on the forums here, in the recruitment section. Generally the corps that post are better than ones that are too lazy/inept to post on the forums. You can also tell a lot about how "good" a corp might be just from their introduction post and thread - for example bad spelling/grammar and a poorly written post is usually a sign of a bad corp. Also, an important thing to inquire about is the time zones that the members are active in. Its no fun to join a corp full of EU tz if you are West Coast US tz for example.
So
1) Find something you want to focus on (you dont need to do one thing forever though) 2) Find a corp that fits your area of interest. 3) Have fun, and don't get too attached to your ships.

The best activity for a pair of players is probably PvP. Specifically, faction warfare is great because that hits the right scale, but just general low-sec pvp works about right with a single partner, too. Enough people that someone's got your back, few enough people that getting everyone to move in unison isn't a giant clusterfuck that'll waste all of your time ever (about 4 or 5 is the point that usually breaks my patience unless it's an actual large fleet and I'm the scout).
That said, start by doing missions together. This isn't as amenable to the two-man setup as it used to be, since NPCs switch targets now so you can't do the one-tank/one-blaster setup that used to be best, but it'll still make you some money while getting you used to flying in a pair with him. |

If you're doing missions with a friend be aware that only the player who accepts the mission will get the mission info and bookmark. For your friend to come in with you, you'll either have to warp in first and your friend warps to you (by right clicking your name then selecting "warp to member"). Alternatively if you make yourself squad leader in the fleet window, then you can do a "squad warp" to warp both of you in together (good practice for PVP ops).

The flip side of not being able to do group missions for twice the reward is two people can take on harder missions that one person alone cannot. L4 missions are meant to be soloable by battleships, but can be cleared just as efficiently and possibly more efficiently by two people in well-planned cruisers or BCs. So two of you can start making pretty good money relatively early on, which wouldn't be possible if you're flying solo. There's the leadership skills, there's being cap buddies, or simply having one guy focused on max DPS against bigger ships while the other guy equips weapons that are best against clearing small ships.
Then by the time you're getting bored of doing that sort of thing, you'll be in good shape to join a larger alliance, maybe move out to nullsec, and get involved in the large-scale excitement. :) |

Okey.
Thanks people! We will probably go ahead and form a fleet, seems interesting, and then go do some missions together. :)

Eve is actually a rather social game compared to other MMO. While it is possible to go solo in eve most folks have more fun playing in corp or even in an alliance. Corps often have folks who mine or mission together. They also sometimes have pvp ops which are group based. PVP in eve can often be a numbers game with large fleet battles. Mission rewards are usually split by the number of members in the fleet but you can run missions faster and more efficiently so it tends to be beneficial to everyone to do so. |

Agreed, there are very few people who enjoy EVE without playing with others. Really, it's the sandbox of things you can do in EVE, with other people, that make it such a great game. |

Note that if someone joins you missioning Fleet, and they have even the slightest sliver of standings with the NPC corp you are missioning for, they get standing increases too. This is a tremendous help in getting Jump Clones, for which you need to grind out pretty high standings in hisec. First off you all gain standings (as long as you had a little bit to begin with) and it feels less of a grind doing them together. |
