I'm about to join a small contingency of pvp'ers in a class 3. Half of them tell me just to omni-tank any ol' BC amd jump right in but the other half tells me that anything less than a BS just won't have enough range to handle the sleepers and stay within range of our logistics. My fitting skills are up to snuff and turret support skills are all at 4, my armor and shield skills are also at 4, BC 5 and medium hybrids/projectiles 4 (not spec'd yet). I can rock a pvp fit cane and it's pve counterpart is good but is it good enough for sleepers in a C3?

I want to fit up a drake for the job but my missile support skills are non-existent. In another few months I will have sufficient support skills to start spec'ing HML's and Torp's. Until then I'm looking for suggestions, tips, threats...whatever ya got.

T3's are one of the most used ships, shield loki's sort of work... drake is still your best bet though, maelstrom would work aswell, hyperion I suppose? You would have to get close with that though. Basically tengu's are the best.

What sort of range is generally acceptable when dealing with sleepers in a C3?

minimum 50km range. the upholder battleships like to orbit at that range. also in the oruze construct (anomaly) spawns are 70km+ from warpinpoint

Do your people run armor or shield when they do sites? Knowing this will make a lot of things much easier for you.

In c3's though you can get away with all sorts of things if you are going at them as a group. Solo however is something else entirely.

C3 sites are only difficult if you try them solo. if you are doing them in a gang with remote repairs, you can bring almost anything and be useful. that said, the more DPS you can project to 50k or so, the more useful you will be. to give you a better picture, take a look over here: http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=WormholeSpaceClass3

As far as i can tell there are 2 groups. In one time zone they are mostly pvp and run armor. Thos time zone spends most of its time looking for trouble in the kspace hole. The other time zone is mostly pve and runs shield setups when they do sites. I have yhe luxury of a buggered work schedule so i get to run with both groups. The pvp time zone is the one that told me to bring an armor cane. The pve time zone suggests that i shield tank the cane for pvp amd start training large guns and BS for sleepers. Maybe its the fact that I'm on call at work 24-7 and don't get much sleep but I'm really confused.

Honestly C3 sleeper site are pretty tame with no warp scrams outside a few radar/mag sites. With logi support an armor cane will do just fine in a shield fleet. Personally I'd bring the cane with enough spare modules for 3 fits passive armor, buffer shield, and armor with one reper. Then just take things easy the 1st few sites, and if a sleeper is too far away just let your corp mates take care of it. If you warp in a site with a bunch of cans floating in space be careful as these sites can get really hairy so stay close to your logi.

You will want to fit the cane for the best range you can manage. Personally once you get your 1st pay out from sleeper sites I'd buy a 2nd cane and fit it for pvp.

 PS- Bring lots of drones.

Drake can handle everything in a C3 quite easily for very cheap. I find that if you roll with a BS you'll have trouble getting the appropriate amount of tank (Drake can hit 700+ dps omni-tank, 400dps and cap-stable to protect against neuts, while most BS struggle to achieve that) and your weapon dps is only useful against BSes while Drakes with precision can take out orbiting frigs (so you don't lose drones).

The only things the Drake can't really handle are the 2 1k dps sites, a radar and a mag, but as said before, there is minimal scramming in these sites so if you have 2 Drakes you should be able to kill scrammers before someones tank breaks then warp in/out to finish the rest of the site. Solo use a Tengu.

Thanks for all the tips fellas. I just had a nice long ts with crew and have it all figured out. I'm moving in with an armor cane and 3 fits. 2 for pve, an arty fit with a full rack of 720's for max range and one with a rack of 425's for the occasional 0.0 connection ratting. Then a pvp fit that I very much so, hope to show you in person.
In the mean time i will be pounding out some missile support skills for a good anti-sleeper drake fit and a sneaky bomber for those wayfaring carebears.
 Thanks guys

Here is one C3 Drake fit, what you can use to solo easy C3 sites.

Tank is a bit under 700, it is 698 but enough. Slow as hell, but works.
