I'm mulling over whether to go for the caldari AF skill or the Gallente AF skill. The harpy and enyo both seem to be very good ships and I can't make a decision for which to go for. Anyone have any experience with them?

I haven't flown the Enyo, but I have flown the Harpy, and I adore the little thing. Harpy tanks very well while still hitting quite hard from nice range.
I assume that Enyo is more for the kind of person who likes to get up-close and personal with enemies, whereas the Harpy is more comfortable pegging things with antimatter from 15km or so. (Although I have heard good things about a blaster-harpy, I haven't yet experimented with them.)
But atm it seems that both the Harpy and Enyo are nice little ships.

I've seen an enyo in action, and although it wasn't in the hands of an elite pilot, I'm sure he could've been doing better and scoring more hits against NPCs in a harpy.
Harpy all the way. ---

So far so good, but I'm no closer to a decision
I do intend to use tech 2 rails though on either setup.

Yah, the enyo most definitly has style which is one reason I like it.

train both. Hell train all 4 races. You'll want to anyway, eventually.

90 mil Harpy = 30 mil Enyo, if ISK is a consideration.
Go for Harpy if you have shield tanking skills; Enyo if you have armour tanking skills. Otherwise, they're pretty much the same. As said before, train both Gallente and Caldari frig to level 5 and try both.

Allthough both have their strong sides and weaknesses I like enyo better, for one on one anyway. Harpy is too vulnerable to emp dmg 2 isk

Gistii equipped harpy is pretty nasty.
Unfortunately same uber equipment for they enyo is unavailable, at least at a sane price. But it's still a tough nugget to *****. ---------------

I wouldnt consider 50m for a shield booster a sane price. Besides, small reps II are almost as good.

Yea, right...45% more boost for 33% less cap, thats fair. And yes, it costs the 50 mil, and yes, its fair for the money and uber for the tank. It's not like armor tankers have the option to choose to buy the uber-rare small mod. Not even sure they drop in-game. ---------------

you guys do realize that if you train AF to level 5 they do the same damage...
Anyway, Enyo is a bit more manueverable and has better tracking. It's an armor tank, which is fun since armor has better stats then shields. Tracking is nice against intie's
Harpy has a nice range. Personally I think that with normal tech II stuff the enyo is a better choice. But if you have the money to get a gisti shield booster than there is no other AF than can stand up to you. Hell, I tanked a black bird and a rupture both attacking me the other day without breaking a sweat. Blew up the blackbird and then the rupture ran away since my thorax friend was now officially unjammed

Edited by: LUKEC on 17/06/2005 08:35:42 stay away from amarr. Hard to fit, with creative slot layout... Still retribution pwns enyos and harpys big time. Only problem is making them stay there. No gistii can save your harpy from em frenzy :)
Oh and if you have lots of iskies, there are lots of ammatar navy reppers there. Not much better than t2, but it might help.

Don't forget about Hawk. It's definitely better looking ship than Harpy and - although not heavy puncher - it has better tank than Harpy. If you go for uber tank you can fit Gistii shield booster, boost amplifier and EM hardener and get unbreakable tank. Just look at his bonus and fit according to it.
Hawk with 2xblasters/2xrockets is a good setup too and easy to fit. You can deal all four damage types.

I fly them both..
I like the enyo more but there is something to be said about the Harpy. I like the fact i get 4km more opt range on my 125's on the Harpy..
To be honest you cant go wrong with either one. I HIGHLY recommend training for both.. They both are very good ships..

I fly them all.....
I like Iskurs better than Enyos personally.... with AF at 4.... 9 Light Drones is a blast....
Hawk is a good boat as one mentioned.... Harpy just is a beast...
Enyo...is a great.... just miss my drone madness like on Iskurs....
So, like someone else already said... "Train them all "
