Would a laser Tengu or Loki be fit blasphemy?

Using a Tengu now but can only carry so much ammo in it, ya know. Was thinking lasers might go toward solving the crud-outta-ammo problem. I like shields better than armor. I have never trained laser stuff at all and frankly don't know much about it. Should I punch myself for even considering a laser Tengu or Loki and just go Legion?

You simply not going to get any of the ship bonus, there are times where it does not matter, and then there are times where it matters. You, the user, get to decide which time it is. As a fix to the ammo problem have you considered ishtar & drones? My main char has excellent success in an ishtar & when I cross trained into the tengu it was only when my skills where very high that the Tengu started to shine. Even now due to ammo & potential ship loss cost I still consider the ishtar a better pve boat, sure it's not as flexable as the Tengu & fitting is tight Obviously if you don't have excellent drone skills this probably isn't a viable option.

Thing with lasers(i only have tengu/legion right now) is that : -You are locking yourself with sansha/blood raiders/amarr rats if you want to kill them in a reasonable amount of time(depends on ewar) -They track disrupt you -You have a HUGE em/therm hole with shields As you've not trained any gunnery you are going to need a lot of turret support skills if you want to even hit targets. Then there is the cap thing too.... To be honest it sounds like a right pain in the rear. Also, eve will become harder for you when you switch to turrets because tracking ewar is just...brutal. To give an example, my exploration legion with: -Tracking computer(optimal range script) -T2 Pulses(scorch) and me with ~12m gunnery SP(and legion subs at V) has a max kill range of 47km If i get track disrupted by 2 or 3 rats(doesn't matter the size..) my range drops to ~12km and I can no longer hit ** unless i switch to tracking speed script and go under 10km. With multifreq crystals the range becomes like ~4.3km or something ridiculous. ^That was about lasers, however you really need a lot more lows than the Tengu can offer for autocannons/arties, you need to have gyros AND tracking enhancers in most cases. "That's okay it annoys me when people pile on new definitions to the word sandbox every time CCP does something they don't like." - Alara IonStorm GD is where 60% of threads make you dumber and 10% which provide you with entertainment, the remaining 30% is a mix of both.**

A loki, with its awesome em resist would allow you to indeed fit lasers and go pwn blood or sansha rats. Nevertheless, its quite qn expensive spaceship for not much, but if you're space rich, go for it.

So if you take into account that beams have a higher base DPS of roughly 15 to 20% and with beams you usually do not fight in fall-off like you do with projectiles then you can come to the result that using beams on a CloakyLoki doesn't hurt you much. I did it in the past and it is definatelly worth to give it a try, especially if you are fighting EM/Therm dealing stuff which itself is vulnerable to EM/Therm. Cap is however an issue, but solvable.

Stay away from the hams Legion, nasty active tank, excellent dps and enough slots to pin you twice.
