Just downloaded the 14 day trial. Very overwelmed. But this game seems so interesting, so I want to give it a chance. I think I may need help..badly
I have always played fantasy MO's. Currently playing WoW, and it is a little simplistic...and lots of immature people play it.
But I want to ask this early..can this game be played "casually"? I am limited 2-3 hours a day of play time. Thanks for any help in advance.

Most definately,
The skill system is perhaps slightly more tailored to your style of play. No level grind but simple training time per skill. With a bit of planning you should be able to juggle it so you are always training.
2-3 hours per day is plenty. It's a complex game with loads to see and do. This kind of time available will see you having access to "high end" content in due course I'm sure.
Stick around. You wont regret it

with good planning to be able to look after your skills. make sure your always learning something then i would 2-3 hours a day is enough. although dont be surprised if eve sucks you in and you play more

I am 30 and married, with house..full time job..etc..
So I cant really get involved in something that is going to be a big time-sink.
That's one of these reasons I play WoW, because I don't have time problems with it at all. But that game is nothing compared to this..

I've been playing 2 - 3 hours a night most weeknights for the last 7 months. I balance this with a hectic job, a decent social lfe, a wife and a cat. I do just fine.

Ur not me are you? hehe
Sounds just like me, although im onto the "you dont come to bed with me anymore" - so im limited to days also now.
But it still seems to work.
Eve ive found so far can be played at whatever pace you want to play it at, with no downsides to not putting "WOW or EQ2 time" into it.
coming from same situation and same type of games played i recommend it.

I'm in the same postion. Last weekend my wife commented that I was going to bed bed as she got up.
Its a great game, but does take a little while to understand alot of the controls/aspects. Once you get it down you'll be having a great time. It certainly is a game that evolves.

It will eat your time, but yes you can easily play 2-3 hours a day if not less. -- The best description of alliances, ever:

Since when is 2-3 hours a day casual? 15-20 hours a week is a PART TIME JOB.
However, the EVE skill system very strongly supports 'casual' play. Need a few weeks off? Set battleship 5, you'll lose no time compared to people who logged in 18 hours a day.

The wife doesn't mind that much. I snore pretty bad, so she gets a head start...heh
But I spend every waking our with her, which is a good thing :)
I think this might be a healthy change from playing WoW. Very mature playerbase I see so far..

Heh... that is an understatement .
EVE is by far the most mature MMORPG out. The intelligence required to play it filters out most little kids and idiots. I'd guess the average age is around 22, and the average IQ is around 120. At least from my experiences in WoW, it seems like the average age there is around 14 -- The best description of alliances, ever:

I used to play Neocron, SW Galaxies *shudder* and Planetside.
All of these games involved at some point, endless killing of Mob's and other NPC things in order to gain a lvl in whatever you were lvl.
I find EVE suits my life better because of the lvl system. I can set a 24 hour skill before i go to bed, wake up and go to work for 11 hours and most of the time my skill will be rdy so i can set another one before i go to bed :)
I think eve can be a good game for people without alot of time to commit. As with all game however the more time you commit the better you will get at it, but just a few hours every other night will get u by i think.

True story...
A 13 yr old in WoW told me the other day that he thought I was too old to play these games...

I'm in my 30s with kids and play 2-3 hours a night. It's no problem. The skill system is awesome. Amd it seems like a lot of the other players are older, have families, etc. It's a refreshing change.
My advice: Join a corp! Especially one with people around the same playing hours as you. It helps immensely in learning the ropes and having more fun. You never have to grind if you don't want to.

Hi Jarmin, another former Neocron runner!
Me too - an hour here and there. Sometimes a longer session on the weekend. It works great. It'll take me a good long time to get to these "Ravens" I hear about, but that's fine. -- Combat Pilot wannabe |
