We can mark our bodies with tattoos and scars. There has been some suggestions on being able to personalize our ships. What I'd like to see is the wear and tear of missions and battles that our ships endure.
Some of my ships I've had for 3+ years, and run some of them thru hundreds of missions. They look just as shiney as when they were bran new. The hulls should have pock-marks, explosion charring, gouges, and scars all over. The longer the ship is in service, the more damage it should show. It could be something a pilot would be proud of.
CCP, you could get real creative with this one!

While reading this section I had the following quotation in mind: "She's broke her back... she'll never jump again."
Those glorious moments...
On topic: I'd love to see that feature but I think there might be some issues implementing this, for example increased data-traffic for those unique scars on several hundred ships. Maybe showing them only for ones own ships would be possible?
Hopefully they find a way to realise this!

We have nano-assemblers for our ships (check out the description of armor repairer and hull repairer modules). Any damage would be perfectly repaired. There would be no pock-marks, explosion charring, gouges, or scars left to show.

Some of us do not use nano-assemblers as we have shields . . .
. . . the flesh does matter, especially when we are out of the pod. ;-)
I agree that the metal matters very much. It protects us from the cold dark harshness of space. Still I'd like to see some damage show up on the hulls. Those who don't want to see it can always repair it. At least we could be give the option.

I just want corp/alliance logo emblazoned on the hull.
But it would look cool to have battered and scarred hulls too. |

Then your shields would stop impancts. Any repaired damage would used nanobots on your hull/armor regardless of your tank. |

Graphics are client side, identifier traffic is minimal.

Internet spaceships swimming in weird extraphysical liquid makes total sense. Thus, we cannot overlook inconsistencies in icelandic science. Standings Improvement Service https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=19454 |
