Hello,
Im having a problem tanking drone hordes. Fly a drake until i can afford the tengu. I know they do spread damage, but i cant get a definitive answer on what type of damage they do the most. (i know explosive, but on my drake, i have 85% explosive resist and its still eating through it)
So, basically i need a tank for a drake that will survive the hordes. It works in tandem with a thanny so it doesnt have to survive forever, just long enough to neutralize the battleship drones.
please list either loadouts for drakes, specific numbers on what the damage spread on drones is, anything that will help me make the drake last longer

7 missile launchers are part of your tank. The enemies you kill, the less damage you receive.
If you have trouble doing L3 mission in drake, either you have ultra low skills or failfit or both.
Are you doing L4 mission?

Drone Hordes, especially the bunker ones, are THE toughest anoms in the game, they are exceptionally tough.
Damage is roughtly 25% of each type, some drones do only kinetic and explosive, others do more em and thermal (BSs).
If you are doing the bunker hordes, just pop the one bunker at a time ofc.
It would be better if the thanny could tank the horde? Best method for the thanny is to warp in, spawn the drones, take agro. Then you can waro the drake in and take no agro.
Remember Drones are EM weak

@Caleidascope: Im not doing missions, im doing anoms. drone hordes, they are the equivilent to the bounty rats sanctums. and my skills are effing amazing. almost all level five for the pertinent shield and missile skills. example, im two days away from heavy missile spec 5. With regards to the thanny tanking. thats just fine, its just some waves target the thanny, and some the drake. here is my drake fit. lets see if anyone has a solution
rigs:

warhead rigor ll (can not come off, the whole reason the drake is there is to kill frigates on up)

core probe launcer (which im changing out)

Well I think it's a 20% resist difference from EM to Kinetic and maxed skilled a Drake give 25% bonus to kinetic so you'd actually have 5% more damage w/ kinetic missiles

You could always armour tank the Drake and put a capital rr on the Thanny :D

and using the dps figures from eft, i did some quick math, im still doing the most damage with kinetic missiles, even though its em week.

Pretty sure you should plug the EM hole on that Drake, I'd certainly take a Photon over the kinetic or explosive hardener v. drones, though I'm not sure of the exact damage types of Hordes.
No room to throw shield RR on the thanny? would free up plenty of room on the drake for more TP's/Rigors. |

GǪbut even so, yes, in general the kinetic bonus will often tend to overcome the difference in resists, even if you're not going after the most prominent weak spot.

if you really want to specialize as the drone frig killer you should think about assault missile launchers as opposed to heavy missiles.
nighthawk/cerb have bonuses to (standard) assault missile launchers, but you can still rock them on a drake.
the sig radius on drone frigs is so tiny using heavy fury missiles still don't hit for full, even with a t2 rigor and painter.
with standard missiles you could probably drop the painter for more tank even. |

Put a large shield transfer on the thanny and let it perma run on the drake. This shouldn't kill you thanny's cap at all. Can then fit more rigs to help deal with frigs and cruiser sig radius. |
