So would so many other people. But it seems it is in the plans of CCP that only a few people shall play the game. A fraction of a fraction of those who else would have. "By the better angles of our nature.." |

You do realise that the console market for FPS games is much, MUCH larger than the PC market right? Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Yeah we do. And we also realize they swap games like socks. DUST is out soon and it will have a huge audience - that is until the next new FPS comes along and the servers will be devoid of life within a week. |

The pessimism is strong with this one. You do realze Dust has been running in Beta for a year already and still has many of the players it started with? zubzubzubzubzubzubzubzub |

I'm sure CCP has a PC release as a backup plan if the PS3 version fails. Anything else would be crazy. They are not going to just leave all this work, disconnect DUST from eve and sign it off as a "fail" if the players are dwindling. Of course they are not going to say this officially because of their tight bonds with Sony and to not hurt their sales. Confidence is a selling point.
All this being said, I don't think DUST on the PS3 is going to fail at all. It has some things that no other console games has, as a unique level of depth, persistence, scale and continuous development. Also it's free, meaning it's something a lot of people will give a chance. Just the idea of constant free content and steady improvements is mind boggling in the console sphere. |

You're wrong. You're wrong because DUST is not what you think it is.
It's exactly the same mistake as holding a loaded .45 in your hand and thinking it's a perfect replica.
The DUST fps is just bait that will hook a completely different kind of fps player. These players have always been there, but there's been nothing for them to play that was capable of holding their interest. Until now. |

The console-market is actually decreasing. With the PC becoming more and more livingroom friendly, customers start going back to the PC. I hope for CCP they get on track with the PC-Version fast because the PS3 is a dead end. Adapting earlier could save lot of money.

I'm an FPS player that somehow ended playing with this mmorpggg or whatever you call this genre. However, i still play Counter Strike and other FPS games when i'm not playing EvE, but i watched today a streaming of Dust and i have to say that it didn't look bad, so i would buy it because i love the EvE universe.
I don't understand why this game isn't on PC. And honestly, I'm not buying a console for a single game. I'm sorry CCP. |

You know what all your problems is? Your stating all your opinions like facts.
Here is what is fact.
People either had to be randomly selected to play dust 514, play eve or payed to get in. The game is going free to play in about a week for EVERYONE. There has already been a tournament which raised awareness and hype with great results.
As it stands there has always been a bar maximum of 5 minutes wait time for matches sever glitches excluded.
When you have some statistics to show us please then by all means come back with them.

http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/return_king_why_pc_gaming_making_comeback http://www.shacknews.com/article/73100/consoles-market-impact-shrinking-says-will-wright http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/10/11/ea-founder-says-consoles-are-niche Just a few.
Nintendo stocks are decreasing over the last 3 years. Thats 1 console out of 3. Source: Stock market.
Gabe Newell doesn't like the consoles and takes action: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/01/09/what-is-valves-steam-box http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/consoles/why-valves-steam-box-is-a-console-killer-1124160 And you can tell us everything you like about the Steambox. It is in fact a PC (with Linux as default OS).
Another fact for you: I and many people I know are not going to buy a console because of Dust. However, all of them have a PC capable of running Dust. Assuming CCP didn't change the engine, Dust uses the UDK. It shouldn't be hard to port it to PC since the UDK is an engine built for the PC in the first place.
Your turn.
PS: You're* |
