Yeah but who really cares if everyone gets kicked from the server at the same time? You are safe, your ship is safe, and when you log back in, you do so from a login-safe point and warp to your last logoff point.

That is not the point.
4 Minutes can be a long time, more than enough to get though hotspot-systems, so why not do it right before DT when those systems - and their gates - are hopefully clear....
