I left EVE Online in December 2004 for unrelated issues and recently I've decided to come back to EVE. After reinstalling the game from the BitTorrent download linked from the EVE Online site. I tried opening the game and after the splash screen my computer crashes and tells me my video card driver is not working. A few things that are wierd... Before leaveing in december I played for many months on the same comp with the same setup and it worked perfectly, now all of a sudden it doesn't work at all. I'm kinda screwed for drivers because ATI doesn't supply drivers for the mobility cards and my manufacturer (compaq) makes them at their leisure and once every blue moon. But the one i'm using right now worked fine before.. Did Exodus change something technical? Nephster still won't let me borrow his voice changer for the Teamspeak server... :( |

I got the exactly same problem... i reactivated my account that i haven't been playing since November and EvE won't work on my HP Compaq nx7010 (which worked previously) with ATi 9200 even after i installed graphic driver from last april that i found on the hp.com page.
First when i started eve i got BSOD and then i installed the new graphic drivers from hp.com and now the laptop freezes up when i start up EvE (before login screen).

Well, we have the same problems... I'm not alone. Right before it should show the EULA, after the splash screen it freezes. --- Nephster still won't let me borrow his voice changer for the Teamspeak server... :( |

I just got an email from Tech Support they told me to check out ATI drivers. We'll see if it works. Good luck to you if it does. I'm definitely trying. --- Nephster still won't let me borrow his voice changer for the Teamspeak server... :( |

I had the same problems with a compaq nx7000 series laptop. Although product information says that this laptop is fitted with an ATI Mobility Readeon 9200, it is actually only a Radeon 9000 series model.
The only way to fix it was to download the latest Catalyst drivers from ATI (I'm using Version 5.5, the current 5.7 should do as well) and use this mod. Remember to select "Radeon Mobility 9000" instead of "Radeon Mobility 9200". This actually only patches the .inf files so that the drivers will install correctly.

Go to http://www.omegadrivers.net/ and download the Ati set of drivers from here. They are modified from the official Catalyst drivers and work fine with most Radeons. I've switched to these and can play EVE without any problems or bugs. They help improve the performance of other games too, some more than others.

Edited by: Nemesis I on 02/10/2005 18:11:55 Confirmation that Lenyia hit the mark - erm with the drivers that is.
5.6 confirmed just trying 5.7 - 5.8 and 5.9 didnt work however.
Cat drivers wont work, and if they did you shouldnt use becuase they dont power save!
