As a new player ( started June 19th ) The char I will be keeping was made on Thur june 24th and should have Instant Recall Analytical Mind Learning All to level 4 by wed.29 june Base stats are Int 10 Per 9 Char 6 Will 5 Mem 9
Now since I can have fun for a bit on my 1st char while this one levels. Should I train Instant Recall to level 5 and then Eidetic Memory to say level 3. Then train the remainder of the learning skills to level 4?
Any thoughts?

Worth getting those learning skills up to lvl5 ASAP. Then get the Advanced ones to Lvl4 Obrioulsly Memory is the most important for learning skills so do Mem lvl5, then Advanced mem 3-4 then intel 5, advanced intel 3-4 then learning 4-5, then the others bar perhaps charisma. Once you have the basics and you can do without learning any "usefull" skills, work on those learning ones.

I'm terrible at math, but if you are planning on playing the game for any period of time I would train learning to 5 first, then the standard learning skills to 5, then the advanced learning skills all to 4.
It will kind of hamper you for a month while you train, but the extra 9 attribute points for each attribute will really help your skill training time in the future.
I wouldn't train the advanced skills to 5, as the time needed to earn back the time spent training those skills has been computed by most to be in excess of a year.

Here try this Link
It is all about learning skills and the cost/benifit analysis and you can decide where you want to take your skill. Currently I have taken all 4 learning skills to advanced lvl 4 but that is me

Edited by: Devric on 27/06/2005 16:12:19 Learning, Analytical Mind, Instant Recall, Iron Will and Spatial Awareness up to level 5 as soon as possible. Don't bother to learn Charisma unless you absolutely want to.
Then Clarity, Eidetic Memory, Focus and Logic up to level 4. The time it takes to learn level 5 on these takes a looong time to benefit from.
This way you get the four most important attributes up about 10 points each depending on your base attributes, and have a character that is suitable for just about any career in EVE.
If I had known what I know today I would have focused at the learning skills from the very beginning. The sooner you have the skills up, the sooner you can benefit from them. However, it is soooooo boring. Feels like you're wasting your time.
Good luck! __________________________________________________________ Knowledge is when you don't know what you don't know. |

Or if you're actually planning to enjoy eve, forget training to lvl 5 for a while.
Get Instant Recall, Analytical Mind and Learning to lvl 4 first, followed by Iron Will and Spatial Awareness.
These will do for quite a while. Spend time getting your other skills up now, so you can fly decent ships and have some fun. Once you find yourself needing other skills at lvl 5, NOW is the time to train more learning skills. First get Instant Recall to lvl 5, then a couple of levels in Eidetic Memory, this will speed up the rest of the basic learning skills training time. Now get Analytical Mind to lvl 5 (and a couple of lvls in the respective adv. learning skill) and Learning. Now get all the remaining basic learning skill to lvl 5 and the advanced learning skills to lvl 4 (ignore the charisma skills).
This should give you the attributes you will keep for the rest of your character's life (unless CCP bring out yet more learning skills).

Thanks everyone.
If I can get the 4.5 mil ISK togeather then I'll train Eidetic Memory right away if not then I'll just have to level up and mine some to get the cash!

Actually thats wrong.
Once mem and int are trained to level 5 train its associated advanced skill to 3 straight away. This will give you 3 extra attribute points to make perc/willp train quicker.

have yet to train any learning to level 5 :P and almost done, have already bs to level 4, the time it takes to train them to level 4 in advanced, a skill would be done faster than it takes to save time
although would only save time on one skill and advantage is it will save you time in the long run :P

I believe that if you are a PvP then in the long run it will pay off to train all the learning skills to lvl 5. Implants just cost to much.

best path ive found is: memory 4 , intel 4 alternate both to 4 mem 1st always then mem 5, advanced mem 3-4 then intel 5, advanced intel 3-4 learning 4-5 (5 did make a point diff for me on my char when I added a +3 to 20 base = 24) perc 5, advanced perc 3-4 willpower 5, advanced willpower 3-4 cha at option not really any skills to justify it
note the advanced skills are rank 1, so training those to 3 takes a day or so. so when u look at the long 6ish day training for lvl 5 and 1 point, consider you will gain 4 points at 7ish days.
also the advanced skills are a little different...perc requires willpower and perc as attributes for it.....so be prepared for the change of time between those and say the intell or mem, but it isnt too much.
with your stats you will get most skills to 5 with around 4.5 days per rank 1, intell and mem based. gunnery and spaceship command are your weaker skill times so definately want to get all the advanced skills to 3 at least to help you catch up, when u train those.
lastly with +3's you can get some great training times, that you gain more skills faster with after you train learning, so imo it is very worth it.
I have exceeded total sps already at 3 mos on chars who didnt train those 1st. at 4 months.
good luck hope it helps
