I did a quick survey in 0.0 and found the same stuff you find in empire space. I would like to see some crokite etc.. in 0.0, I will take the risk if there is decent ore I can mine to build my own ship. Now I understand why Miners never venture to 0.0

You are looking in the wrong systems. There are some systems where you can't navigate through a belt in a lubed shuttle without bumping into Crokite, Bistot and Arkonor.

There's ample way to predict what ore will be in what system, all you lack is knhowledge, so ask the right questions before going to look in the wrong area. _______________________________________________

Well. Try looking for a dead-end 0.0 system(off peak time of course) that is a little further away from empire. It is not a black and white, but shades of grey growing darker the further away from empire u get.

It's my understanding ccp actually move these ors around 0.0 some times to balance out what's getting mine'd.
So if it gets "moved" then it's hard to think about it...

They dont move it around. they moved it around once when castor was implemented. Since then very little has changed, and the lowest secrutiy systems still haven the good ore.
I could make you a list of all the systems that have top-four ores (bistot, crockite, arkonor, mercoxit) without visiting any of them and be 90% accurate.
Now, I won't tell you how to get that accurate becuase it sucks thats its possible to be that accurate without needing to epxlore anything, but the guy earlier on was totally right in that deep 0.0 and dead end systems are the place to be. _______________________________________________

There is good ore in P3EN go there and mine that as to your "quick" survey you obriously based it on a small ammount of space.
The best place for ore is normally the further out you go, this is logical since the logistics im mining here are much more complex,

since I always see you around essence region, i think pf-346 has high ends, mjw-3 has them about 11 jumps from empire going through pf.

Aye P3EN is probably the best system in EVE to mine in.

Edited by: Frank Powers on 27/06/2005 13:13:38 if your around the outer ring area, try ninja mining in NM-OEA. It has Crokite in the system, and 2 NPC Stations as well. Makes for a good spot to Ninja Mine. Whats really nice is the Stations are ORE stations so they sell barges right there.

Yup.
EC-P8R has crokite, lots of it. PF-346 has dark ochre, lots of it.
Both are only 1 jump from high sec Empire and refineries.
It is a tricky jump to make though....
Beyond that, there are loads of systems with the nice high end ores. I know where a load of them are, because I went out and looked for them. As Rod says, experience means that I could make a fairly good guess as to where the nice systems are even in places I've never been like Venal/Cloud Ring etc...
If you ask nicely, people may enlighten you....

Yup, if your post was more intelligent you would get smarter answers.
There is a way to predict where the good ore will be.

yeah. There is no valueable ore in 0.0. Its just a huge conspiracy to lure all those out so the can get their furry scalps. All 0.0 corps get their megacyte by recycling loot & stuff ...
So just stay in empire...

Thanks for the update, Highend ores or death. I will have to plan for this. Mining is boring, some risk will add to the exitement when I am forced to mine.

i scouted some 0.0 space in the syndicate region.
i just found 2 system with high end ores in. i did not go to the dead-end.
so you need to look around and find the good stuff....ahh...all the 0.0 dead-end systems are claimned by alliances who will shoot you.....but i guess that doesn't mean anything to those ppl posting here the smart comments ;-)
so, there is plenty of high end ores out there, it's just a matter of getting there mate.

I saw some mercoxit and bistot yesterday. It wasn't far from empire only about 20-30 jumps.
I'm not suggesting you come here but set your autopilot for v7-mid it will give you an idea of how far into 0.0 you have to go to get the really rare ores. and btw no NPC refining there either.

It's not difficult at all really. The alliances will chase you to a safe once in a while when the bring a huge herd to kill your single mining/ncping ship....but its no bother really. Just watch local.

hmm you see the thing is 0.0 isnt just 0.0, even in 0.0 there is different sec ratings.Go to this site
http://coretech.org/evesys.php?
that site shows you the true sec rating of 0.0 systems.
The way it works is the higher the rating the more dangerous the NPC's are in that system, and as a general rule the more dangerous the NPC's are the better the ore, so at 0.8 system is more likely to have rare ores than a 0.2.

The main problem with a lot of 0.0 is that its "filler space" or rather, it feels like it. Cosmos is supposed to change this - we'll all have to wait and see...

Linkage
Go here. The lower the true sec status, the better your chance of finding valuable ores.

Lol.
My tactic is to go small and cheap, so I risk nearly nothing. A little cruiser in the off-hours grabbing and jetting a few k of some ore isn't going to make the players in the area flinch and the rats are easy enough to avoid unless you aren't paying attention. If you get 500 worth of some ultra-rare stuff, it's often enough to set you up for a few days. At worst, you get podded a few times and are out a 50K cruiser. I find that frigates and shuttles are pretty much left alone unless it's a free-fire zone(like the example above - heh)
Just make sure you have a 10mn or simmilar strapped onto it for extra speed - few things really bother small ships that go 600-800 m/sec.
(otoh, a cruiser will attract enough attention to get you podded nine times out of... nine. :) )

Yes, I remember ninja mining crokite a loooooooooong time ago, in a rifter! The system was more or less patrolled by Frankinator in a big assed apoc with his various alts acting as foils to catch the nooblars unawares. It was kindof exciting, but then again, there isn't much profit in excitment - at least there wasn't then.

Pirates grow from arkonor.

having some fun mining some of that crokite. in 0.0, it might take me a little time to chip away at the crokite so I can refine some for my battlecruiser. This one guy is always busting my chops attemting to warpscramble and shoot at me, I just want a little crokite thats all.
some big fat 500K battleship pirates, frozen cropses floating around and cans all over the place. more fun than mission running level 2.
