I would recommend joining some kind of entry-level pirate corp - there are plenty.
Generally speaking, most engagements are on a gate or a station which means you need to be able to tank the sentry guns and whatever damage your target(s) is(are) doing. High volley is typically sought after, as the name of the game is usually hit and run.
As for places for targets, faction warfare systems, missions hubs, etc. Think like a carebear and you'll think of plenty of places to chill. Also, take advantage of your sec if you haven't lost it yet. Opportunity kills in high sec are well worth it. |

Let me tell you that make profits out of piracy is quite difficult, maybe the "less difficult" way should be using gate camping tactics. Another point is that you should have a hauler alt so once your sec status forbidden you to get into high sec systems you will not depend on others to get stuff from the main trade hubs. Just to make an example, I roll solo in low sec and my K/D is positive but I still cant "profit" from it, so I use an alt to make isk and burn it all in low sec pvp. Anyways piracy is about testing your pvp skills and having fun, profits is important for sure, but if you want it badly you should be doing another thing like incursions or whatever... there should be guys out there that can make a living on piracy, but i'm not one of those, maybe one day XD. |

You wont make a great profit from pirating. Pirating is going to be more fun than steady cash. Especially if you are a new pirate. |

Indeed. Don't waste your positive sec (if you have any) melting nubs in lowsec. Break out your scanning alt and gank a few high value cargo targets. That way you'll at least initially semi-guarantee yourself some profit from your positive sec loss. Of course you may be unlucky, but it's a lot of fun at the same time.
I wish you luck.

Depends on the crew you roll with. If you're with the right people and in the right place at the right time you can make a **** ton of cash.
@Tiana: That being said, pretty much every pirate you'll ever meet has at least one other account or character for an income stream. Times aren't always good, so it's nice to have some sort of revenue stream you can fall back on if necessary |

Tips, tips tips...
1. Get an alt - being -10 makes it hard to do a jita run and relying on others to do it for you can take time.
2. Join an entry level pirate corp - already been said but here's why, the "big boys" tend to look for people with a good killboard history, understanding of piracy and a certain level of skill points. An entry level corp should have the knowledge to allow you to build that as well as support with ship fits, tactics, and bringing stuff to your home.
3. ISK - again that alt comes in handy, 90% of piracy does not make huge sums of isk there are corps and occasions where that changes but rule of thumb always have a way to make a few isk on the side. Once you hit the big time you may well make enough isk to survive without an alt.
4. Tactics - explore different styles of piracy, find one you like, then look to develop yourself in that area.
5. Learn from your mistakes, we all make them but the good pirates are the ones who never make the same mistake twice.
Generally starting out in piracy is a tough but rewarding experience and I wish you good luck in your ventures. Scammers are currently selling killrights on this toon for up to 5mil, if you have paid for this service demand your money back at once.

good tips above, but to add:
1) Bring a salvager in your hold or off-lined in a utility slot, money is going to be hard enough
2) Establish a base of operations, get familiar with the locals. You need to understand who you are living around before you can clearly distinguish between a valid target and a major threat
3) Fly something fast. Cruisers are pushing it on the slow side (assuming you are solo). Stick to frig hulls and dessies if you can bear it. Keeps your losses cheap and allows you to actually turn a profit while pew'ing.
