Yes, they suck, anyone that has large turrets knows this. You cant hit nothing, I shot at a probe and my 3 large guns missed the whole time. My 650 scouts hit, however, my large guns that have a optimal range of 1.8k missed even when I was at optimal range. This is crazy. Well I guess ya will listen when TTI or some other corp is at war, and they are fighting and notice that thier shield boosters are recovering damage from 3 other bships firing on it.
Pod ya later.. Ywev

Yep, same goes for most pretty much all Large Lasers, you have a hard time hitting webified almost none-moving 50k Pirates within optimal range.

what in the heck are you doing firing at a probe with 3 battleships? weren't there any ibis' left to shoot at?
pvp at its best i see :)
good point by the way although in keeping with the naval warfare metaphor i doubt a battleship would be firing it's 16in guns at a torpedo boat...

Have you tried shooting them big guns at another BS. I am serious here. Big guns (because of the turn rate) are for slow moving targets. The smaller and faster the target the gun with the better turn radius is used.
If you want to shoot at small/fast targets with a BS you need to mount smaller guns with faster turn rates.

Try some tracking computers/links. My corpmates don't seem to have too much trouble clearing out cruiser pirates with their big lasers.

sigh.... You're right it couldn't be someone who uses the guns alot he's in moo we don't like how they play so they must always be wrong.
Heavy weapons for the amount of power they take are not really worth it. The only reason you mount them on a battleship is because you can. If the ship is at all low on grid or CPU switching from a mega beam to a heavy mod will only drop your damage a little, but it frees up alomst 2200 grid. I've never tried out large hybrids but proj and lasers are not a very big step up
I'd like to see an up in the damage ( a little at a time :P maybe 2 or 3 base damage) and keep the same tracking.

even so maybe not firign on fats moving frigate, but webbified cruiers within optimal range shoul be fair game for a battelship mounted large turret, this requires further investigation...

me and a corp mate both using armageddons with the same setups except he is using 7 heavy mods and i am using 5 mega-beams and two heavy mods, similar skill levels, he does approximately 1.5x the damage i do.

Optimal range of 1.8k ROFL
Guess you must have to stick your gun on the enemies forehead and say "Dodge this!"
Even my Medium sized guns have a 25km optimal range for pete's sake! heh
Just as a matter of interest, what large guns are you using Ywev that aren't hitting? -------------------------------------------

You fail to realize that Bships with Large weapons are not supposed to be hitting frigates very easily at all. Frigates are fast, large weapons have low tracking speed. This means that the large weapons will not be able to hit the frigate very much, if at all; thus they are meant for taking on other slow targets such as Bships and in the future, titans. Bships are not meant to take on frigates, frigates and cruisers are meant to take on frigates. This is why in the future epic battles will not only have Bships but cruisers and frigates as well.
Hopefully CCP will not change this.

Read the second post. Yes it should be hard for a battleship to hit a firgate IF that frigate is up close. Right now it's hard for a battleship to hit a battleship 20k away
No one is asking for battleships to own all. The larger guns just need to do more damage when they hit.
Maybe the optimal range on large gun needs to be moved closer to the fall off. Will this make them more likly to hit at range and give them less chance close up?

Dude, it's not crazy, it's balanced. A big large cannon isn't supposed to be able to hit a ship as small and fast as a probe. Was the probe moving or it was standing still? and were YOU moving or you were standing still?
Large turrets are good against cruisers and other battleships only, they said it in the last patch: turret now take the size of an object into consideration...

He talks about large Autocannons or Blasters. That are supposed to be the battleships anti frigate/cruiser weapons.
