The guy was probably drunk or something, or talking about the wrong game. If you want instant gratification, go stimulate your genitals. EvE is Hard, deal with it. |

You mean the thing that has existed since roughly forever? Yes, it's coming back.
It's about restoring lost functionality. Why do you ask? Vote Malcanis for CSM8. |

The "challenge to a dual feature" is a fine idea by itself imo. The problem is the suggestion to the wardec system. |

Note that there is no special exclusivity or isolation from outside interference just because a duel has been agreed. Other players can interact with the combatants exactly as normal, providing that they are prepared to accept the normal Crimewatch consequences. (Inteferring in a Limited Engagement via remote-assistance can net the assistor a Suspect flag, making him a global target).
I'm relieved to hear that. If you want instant gratification, go stimulate your genitals. EvE is Hard, deal with it. |

The wardec system suggestion is even worst then the meteorite that killed the dinosaurs. If you want instant gratification, go stimulate your genitals. EvE is Hard, deal with it. |

Good, I was missing the times when ppl canflipped to 'duel' with backup in tradehubs. Glad we'll see even more popping now that repping makes you go suspect. All in all more explosions and more profit for me, I'm in.
It's even good for solo pvpers who have been sharing tears with us a lot lately. |

What's next? The loser's ships turns into a ghost ship and has to warp back to materialize again? I'm not a fan of this feature. |

Since the functionality mostly already exists, seems like a waste of developer time to me.
For optimal results, duels should also "stop" before either ship is blown up. This would allow older players to train newbies safely and easily - just duel each-other and learn, without having to re-ship after each and every fight, or having to stop when ship hits structure and not quite knowing for sure who would have been the winner (considering different weapons have different alpha, etc.)
This was actually very nicely done in Pirates of the Burning Sea. You could set up limited 1v1 (or XvX) engagements as practice matches, where any ship lost wasn't actually lost. It was just that - practice. Nice feature to get the new players to learn how to PvP without turning them off with ship loss at the same time.
P.S. The above may be considered "pussification", but it is really just a "no risk, no loss, no gain" scenario. It is just practice, which could be useful considering EVE has a lot of mechanics that aren't exactly the most straight-forward or logical or intuitive. |

I expected a shitstorm in the pages of the devblogs thread, tbh ... ... but was kind of confused when there was none.
Now i feel better.
Please don't forget that most people usually don't think, so it's no wonder when they whine about something that actually has been in the game forever, just in a different form. ^_^ Inappropriate signature removed. Spitfire |

I will not go into detail but with today's mechanics, there is a way around this that many War Dec corps use. For the most part the average player would not use this but i can see some using it. |

Allocating some dev time to bring it back in a modernised and CW2.0-compatible form is a good (and much requested) thing. Vote Malcanis for CSM8. |

It is just practice, which could be useful considering EVE has a lot of mechanics that aren't exactly the most straight-forward or logical or intuitive. Except that this makes no sense. There's no point in fighting, if nobody dies. Using noobs as excuse is lame. There's no point in fighting if there is no loss. Training should include punishment, because without punishment everything that's learned is much less effective.
I'm sure you never heard of that, but pain usually teaches people far more than the lack of it.
With shiploss: Damn, i really have to do better ! Without shiploss: Oh well ... too bad. Maybe next time.

SO let me get this straight - they're making it easier to do something that people already do to have fun in this game?
IN MAI EVE?!?!?!
This will not stand - we will burn Jita to the ground before we allow this atrocity to fester in our fair game, like a canker on the bum or the world. I demand that these new streamlined mechanics be immediately revoked and the old clunky system of 1v1 versus canflipping be left alone.
Damn you CCP! Damn you all!
