There is no exact time
Ive never seen them pop before 90 minutes

Misson cans are 2-2.25 hours, I'd expect jettisoned cans to be similar.

jet cans are around 60 - 90mins.

some can last for several hours, its really random. I usually change mine every 30 mins or so in case i forget

Change the can every hour and you wont have a problem.

Forget to change the cans when mining and watch your 25 minutes of effort go POOF...

seems silly to me... why use jet cans when u can purchase and use secure containers for cheap?? Never *POOF*, password secured... all it takes is skill: Anchoring lvl 1.
Mabye i'm missing somthing....

Just the compacity difference....
Jet will hold more than a secure can, plus when i empire space 0.5+ u can't anchor secure cans (or i can't at least) and ppl can just scoop them and take them all the way home and u loose a can and maybe some well earned mins...
so its just would u rather have: Free can, and loosing mins if someone raids it (not that alot of ppl can fit 27,000.00m3 in their hold) and you'll more than likely catch them in the act, when they come back for the remaining mins....
(noob ore thiefs do that, mature thiefs hit and run and never come back coz they know theres a chance they'll get found out)
or have a secure can thats not REALLY secure in 0.5+ and loose a can thats worth something and loose you mins all together?

actually, i can anchor a secure can in space that is .7 or below... but i do see the difference in capacity now. Make sure i bring my missle launcher for ore theifs though
