It should be made so that dreadnoughts, when jumpdrives are engage, suffer damage to their jumpdrive just like crystals.
Perhaps it should be .1% per jump's worth
This jumpdrive damage should require a POS and moon minerals to repair.
This would solve the problem of POS's not mining lower end minerals

Read the dev's blog - Dreadnoughts wont even be able to enter secure space.

Yah, most probably a large part of the eve community wont see a dread for years to come, except maybe from screenshots and a visit to the test server.
Waste of perfectly nice content if you ask me :).

They might be able to enter secure space if docked in a titan.

you'll see them as by my calculations the dreadnaught has the possibilite to make a mean miner (atleast the gallente one with +5 drones/lvl) with a max of 35 mining drone 2 (25m¦ ore/cycle with maxx mining drone op skill 31m¦) and 3 modulated deep core miners with T2 mining crystals giving 328m¦ you get an astonishing 1413m¦ ore per minute, more if you use the good old harvesters ^^ so these babys might get used by miners ^^ just for the fun of it

Moon mins or strontium are far too easy to acquire whenever they are needed. Repairing the hull of a Dread should require the facilities of a Starbase, thus insuring that those who will own a Dread will at least also have to own a Starbase in order to keep it operational or simply running. Logging off in a Dread should only be possible within a Starbase shipyard, and the Dread should always stick around. Log off Dread tactics are going to be incredibly lame.
A Dread shouldn't be able to go to more than a dozen encounters or jumps before it should have to return to an HQ for any possible reason. Thus 5-10% jumpdrive damage or something. Or charges that can only be carried in the hold of a Dread.
Hull repair mods should be removed from the game period.

We got to kill and observe them for like 15 hours yesterday. They will probably be back today on SiSi.
They can dock, which sucks. They can get hefty insurance. They can make nifty electrical storms. They have very cool looking guns. But who knows how they will be changed between now and release?

What do we know? They are exactly like every other ship except they cannot activate jump gate (and freighter cannot open their cargo in space). The rest is exactly the same except they have stats which are a lot bigger like 23k armor. Now they also have a nice siege mode which is activated by a module that while the cycle is active, they cannot warp away but do more damage. |

We won't see any Dreads. Using the jumpdrives is too hazardous.
ie:
Guy wants to jump his dread, he gangs with a guy who has the beacon mod. Beaconer goes to target system, starts up the mod, mod 'icons' its position in space. Hostiles SEE the beacon, calls in buddies, and warps to the beaconer Hostiles blow beaconer up, and dread who isn't ready to fight after jump
Result, 2 ships (one very expensive one) scraped. Maybe a couple hostiles. Dread owner Petitions and is told to get hung.
It ain't over till the fat lady falls on ya!
[ 2004.10.09 02:50:23 ] (combat) Your 425mm Compressed Coil Gun I perfectly strikes Guardian Sentry, wrecking for 747.3 damage.

And if the beacon is on 1 of the 3 x tech 2 bs. Hostile knowing a dread (or two) are coming. The have a costy choice to make!

Maybe the guy with the beacon should be part of the rest of the fleet instead of going into hostile territory on it's own? and maybe a dread fleet should involve a bit more then a dread and someone with a beacon fitted? ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |
