It would be nice if you could click your char in corp chat to indicate that you are afk. Maybe it changes colour?)
Could be done for other chat windows as well but you run the risk of players knowing the ship is unattended?

Yes this would be very handy. Bit like irc in style where you can have an "away" signature.

I've tried to suggest this many times before and you always get a retard in the thread saying "OMFG YA RIGHT A AFK FLAG WOULD BE A LIEK A BIG SINE SAYING POD ME". Then I try to tell them it would be for corp chat only and they never listen. I picked yellow as the color of the AFK bar. :-)

I would like to see such an feature aswell.
Was about to start a thread about it, glad I searched before doing that. 
I assume it wouldn't be that much of a complex task to do. But what do I know, I'm no coder.

fitting into that would be a option to "PING" someone . [ No ping of Death *fg*]
might be restricted on Corp,Alliance,Gang
you get a new optionin the right click on Name menu saying "Ping <name>"
this should play some notification "BEEP BLINK".
like im going afk, or im at phone or some place else [ frezze to get a new beer or two] and i can get an Urgent attention sound that i should come back,watch screen ..
e.g. in case of a fleet just warps in or rats appearing in belt.
Option menu should allow you to "disable,gang only,corp only,alliance only,enable" Pinging you .. with same CCP Charge Level as used for messaging ...
