I am currently in a high sec industrial corp while I have been running incursions and generally training my skills will growing my wallet.
I have 3 bil isk and 10 mil SP... so I feel the time is about right for me to start the process of moving to Null Sec.
However, I have NO idead on how to find a good group of guys and how I would get involved in the scene. Any advice would be appreciated!
Please let me know if there are other skills I should have trained, a certain threshold of isk I should have, and any other information that could help!
Thanks! |

I'd read some forum adverts and corp descriptions. Ingame you can use the relatively new corp search funktion, where you can specify what timezone you need, what type of corp (pvp / pve etc.) you are looking for etc. - pretty cool feature.
Next step would be to join a few recruitment channel ingame - every serious corp has one. Ask 1000 questions and see if there is any corp you like.
It#s a bit of trial and error, but good luck. _______________________________________ Don't be scared, because being afk is not a crime. |

Remember, if a recruiter asks that you package up all your assets into one neat little package and contract it to them along with a modest down payment it is definitely NOT a scam and you should do so without hesitation. |

I'd also advise that you don't let people know how much liquid isk you have in your wallet, and when you move to 0.0 don't take anything except the ship you want to take. You can buy whatever you need out there if the market has been setup well.
Then its just a case of putting an ad in the recruitment forums, responding to ads on the forums and going into the recruitment channel in game to see if anyone is around. Be honest when they ask questions (unless you plan on scamming them haha) but don't let them tell you that you need to give them anything. If they do that its a scam and get out asap. |

Switch to a clone with no implants, jump in a shuttle and then open up your map and set a course for any system near the edge of known space. At a certain point you will enter your first null sec system.
There will be loads of pilots floating on this gate. These guys are the official "welcome to null sec" party. Also, the shimmery, shiny stuff you will see out the window is normal for null sec since everything is coated in isk.
Just introduce yourself in local and then decloak and look forward to your new life! |

I'll give you an example:
(1) Which bloc would I like to join? - I am not interested in joining the HBC as I hold a personal grudge against some people there and seeing them in fleets would be awkward. - I am not interested in joining some Russian alliance/bloc as I don't feel like living as an English-speaking second-class citizen (this also excludes the Neo Curse Coalition) - I roamed in Providence a few months ago and didn't like what I saw of the local residents (mostly kitchen-sink fleets and Oracles). - NPC 0.0 is not what I am looking for atm. - I don't have the qualifications for elite pvp (RnK, AHARM, ...) - N3 might be interesting (but potentially a little unstable, also not sure if they'd take me given my employment history). - CFC might be interesting now that goons are going to reset TEST (one of my best times in EVE was joining Vee's Foreign legion deployment against IRC).
For the sake of the argument I will focus exclusively on the CFC though in reality I would also consider N3.
(2) Which alliance in the given bloc would I want to join?
(2a) Which alliances make up the CFC? I'm not aware of any official, up-to-date list being published in some visible place but I know that GSF is leading the CFC, So I have a look at https://standings.goonfleet.com/ to get a list of friendly alliance - anyone who is +10, not TEST and has a name that I recognize is probably CFC.
(2b) Which alliance would I want to join? C0NVICTED - Australian alliance, I'm German. Wrong TZ. Circle-Of-Two - aren't they crazy Serbians? very small and probably not well integrated. Executive Outcomes - ex-BoB, also Australians Fatal Ascension - terrible. Are proud of having no FCs of their own (being "soldiers"). Fidelas Constans - they belong into Providence. ... long story short my first choices would be Goonswarm or RAZOR, if that fails GENTS.
for the sake of the argument I'll proceed with Goonswarm Federation.
(3) Which corporations in Goonswarm Federation could I join? which would I want to join?
(3a) Get a list of corporations in GSF off dotlan: http://evemaps.dotlan.net/alliance/Goonswarm_Federation/corporations order by member count. Everything with less than 80 members looks like alt corps.
(3b) Check the corporations for recruitment requirements.
GoonWaffe - I have an SA account but only lurk (they require about 100 posts afaik). Don't have anyone I could ask for a vouch. Wildly Inappropriate - open recruitment. Amok. - they mostly do vouch-based recruitment afaik. Merch Industrial - they recruit from the penny arcade community. I watch Extra Credits occasionally but I don't think that is enough to qualify me for this corp. Les chevaliers de l'ordre - open recruitment. Raging Ducks - I can't even read the moon-language in their corp description. Bat Country - I have no idea what f13 is but I'm not a part of it. Eternity INC. - open recruitment. Kriegsmarinewerft - open recruitment. SUNDERING - open recruitment (?). ...
(3c) Which corporations would I actually want to join? Wildly Inappropriate - they used to be their own alliance and have a "special" culture that I'm not very interested in. Les chevaliers de l'ordre - my French is terrible, not an option. Eternity INC - hey, I actually know one of their FCs from way back when! wonder if he remembers me... also Vily. Kriegsmarinewerft - they create some of the best propaganda and German is my native language. SUNDERING - I have honestly no idea what this corp is alll about. would have to check ...
So if I were looking for a new corp in 0.0 I'd probably apply to Eternity INC and Kriegsmarinewerft. If that fails I'd look to join a quality corp in N3. If that fails I'd look at corps in RAZOR. If that fails I'd look at mediocre N3 corps or GENTS.
I hope that gives you an idea how a (relative) veteran would approach looking for a 0.0 corp, the same principle applies imho to new players (you just have to do a lot more homework). Sorry to everyone who feels insulted by my biased perception of their corp/alliance, this post is about illustrating a selection process, not about judging corporations. I'm a NPC corp alt, any argument I make is invalid. |

Had a walk and thought on my previous post:
* don't be afraid of sweeping generalizations and your own biases, it's the easiest way to reduce the number of corporations you are looking at to a manageable level.
* in my experience the ratio of people you can become friends with, people you can work with and people you grow to loathe is pretty much the same in all corporations.
* look for key personnel. A corporation like Amok. or Eternity INC will always fall soft no matter the fate of GSF as any alliance would be overjoyed to have Rydis (coordinator extraordinaire) or Vily (bloc-level FC). Next best are corporations that have key personnel that might not be of much use to other alliances but that is crucial to the functioning of their current alliance - e.g. The Milkmen in TEST might look like a fairly boring and small corporation on first glance but they have Daquaris (TEST's spymaster) which makes them imo a better choice than most other corporations in that alliance.
* the recruitment forum is a good place to browse for ideas (which corner of the map/which alliance did I completely forget about?) but most corporations that advertise there are terrible. A good corporation usually gets enough recruits from applicants that seek them out based on their reputation and doesn't have to spend hours copy-pasting their adverts into "looking for corp" threads. I'm a NPC corp alt, any argument I make is invalid. |

You sound like someone who is very cautious, overly trusting, and a bit averse to risk. Perhaps you should contact someone from TEST.

Check recruitment forums, look for places that are willing to train new members. Don't pay recruitment fees. Don't bring all your **** with you the first time you go out there. If you need a ship out there they will provide one or you can buy one, later you'll figure out how much stuff you actually need to move, and decide if its a good idea to take your hulk with you. I hear "Executive Outcomes" and I think "Former BoB allies who picked up (ex-IT) ANZAC Alliance, one of the biggest and most active Oceanic TZ corps in EVE. Were a member of both HBC and CFC and sat awkwardly between both stools until yesterday when it became public that they'll drop their Fountain sov (which they haven't made any real use of for months)".
That's the extent of my knowledge about .EXE and what I would use as a basis for a decision rgd whether to look into your alliance for a new home or not. As I explained in my posts above it is in my opinion pointless to research every single corp and alliance in this game just to do them justice - if you try to do that you'll never get to a point where you actually start applying anywhere.
If my view is grossly distorted and incomplete that might be a sign that your alliance could do a better job at PR.
An easy first step towards that goal might be to update your wiki article which currently reads very much like an obituary:
Quote:Executive Outcomes [.EXE] was a major 0.0 alliance, affiliated with the Greater BoB Community located in Period Basis. KIA Alliance, with the help of Goonswarm moved in during the Second Great War and took over the region (April 15th - April 25th, 2009). I'm a NPC corp alt, any argument I make is invalid. |

Fastest way to find a nullsec corp is take a major gate pipeline to nullsec.
There you will find some nullsec renters waiting at a gate for you. They will have been there all day. You too can join them and sit there all day.

If you plan move to null sec, enter it with empty wallet, dont move your whole assets to null space, null space is place where you should earn a lot isk and got pvp fun, its not a place where you need spent or lose whole assets, before you join any corporation or alliance, try study them, ask about thier reputation etc, some people just waiting to scam people like you.
