I've come here today to seek information about mining.
As we all know, if you want to make good money, you need to mine. So far I've got myself a Vexor, 4 miner2's and a handfull of drones. I'll be getting mining barge within a month. I'm kinda stumped as to where to go from there. Ice is a must without exception but I was interested in POS or possibly setting up another account...
I'm not too sure on whats best for me really..
Thanks for reading

Dont bother with a pos it takes more than a second account to maintain one and your be constantly harrassed by ore thieves and your for sure gonna be trod on by any alliance that passes ya.
Just train up a BS it doesnt take much training and you can mine as fast as a medium barge also having the skills to fly other ships so your be given a variety of tools to use against any lil b.astard ore thief that tries to still from ya muahahaha.

If you wanna get some quick cash and enjoy the game while at it, join a corp that welcomes new players. Some help out with cash and ships from the start; some have equal split at mining ops (regardless what ship you're in).
By joining a corp you can take advantage (usually for free) of character specialisation, especially of older players. i.e. the guy with maxed out refining skills refines your ore/loot. the guy with maxed out accounting skills sells it etc.
Before the patch I heard about a few people running solo POS. You could always contact Dark Shikari (POS consultant) but I would recommend some research and money gathering; because it's not necessarily cheap. Plus, you need to go low sec to build a POS (and I've rarely found a decent moon >0.0
Another new threat are capital ships. I assume that POS are under threat even if they're up these days (I might be wrong).
As for future mining related skills:
1. Get a large barge if you're planning high-sec mining.
2. Get a battle ship if you're planning low-sec mining without support.
3. Improve refining skills.
4. Get an industrial because you want to find a system with few ore thieves to mine; and a system with high mineral prices to sell (try Yulai DED station (last in the list)).

Everyone needs a good hauler. Hauling isn't that exciting, so it can be hard to find someone else to do it for you. The ships called "Transports" are not really that good for hauling, they're specialized in special hauling, such as moving stuff through hostile space. The new "Freighters" are probably excellent haulers, but you still need "Industrials" to bring that ore in from the field. The Iteron V is probably what you'll need, but you can always train Industrials from other races as well, it doesn't take alot of time to get into those.
