Works like this:
- COSMOS uses 'agents in space'. Basically these agents are located in space, usually at agent sites. There are currently 2 COSMOS constellations available, 1 in Minmatar space and one in Caldari.
- The agents currently only dish out once-per-character missions, meaning you can't get the same mission more than once. The only exception to this rule are the mini-profession agents, they give recurring missions. The mini-profession agents are linked to the new professions that came in with the patch.
- What you need to talk to these COSMOS agents is standing. They currently use the same standing formula as the old agents you're used to. COSMOS agents also give standing, as the once-per-character mission sequences are considered 'important' and therefore give a nice faction standing boost.
- COSMOS have some special rewards, such as COSMOS-specific modules. They are usually dished out as 3-run blueprint copies.
- More COSMOS constellations will be added into the game gradually, next in line are the Gallente and Amarr versions, then we move on to the 'noob' areas, and after that a set of 0.0 constellations. The current ones are 'mid-level', i.e. situated in 0.5ish space and mostly level 2-3.
- COSMOS missions are intended to be more storyline oriented than the old generic missions you're used to. Them being once-per-character and hard-coded into a specific area helps us to make them more storyline oriented.
- The current COSMOS constellations are Okkelen (Caldari) and Ani (Minmatar). You might find an occasional 'agent in space' outside of these constellations however but that would be fairly rare, most of them are located in the official COSMOS areas.
- Each COSMOS agent (other than the mini-profession ones) has a sequence of missions, which range from 2-5, usually 3.

I don't know if they are any were else but their are NO mini-profession agents in any of the systems in Ani. Their are also no Hacking or Archeology skill books being sold in metropolis.

Hmm they were all tested before they went live. Could you submit a bug report with any problems you find? Also note that most of the kill missions do not give out bookmarks (by design), because they use static respawning spawns as their targets (not an agent mission spawned dungeon).

Yes, some of the rats were very tough. And this is a good thing! Please dont change it, we ran it in a group and it was great fun. -

Well there are some level 4s in there as well. And we were a bit liberal in terms of difficulty as they are once-per-character, these missions aren't intended to be farmed like the generic missions.

I hope that they wont get reduced in difficuly if people start moaning alot.
There are too many NPC things in EVE that are far too easy at the moment. Its nice to have a good challenge. -

We met some agents last night in Ani who insisted on these skills before setting us to work so I reckon you must have missed them. |

Regarding the mini-profession stuff: The agents for this are in, you can find them around the agent sites. You can recognize these missions in that they mention that you need to have some archaeological or hacking knowledge.
Anyway, I plan to post a dev-blog about the mini-professions tomorrow or Friday, stay tuned for that if you want more information.
Oh, and the mini-professions skills should be available for purchase on the market once TQ is back up - in all the craziness in getting this patch out we forgot to put a price on the skills The price is 1.000.000 ISK for each. |

Do you need the archaeology and hacking skills to do these missions? How tough are the level 2 ones? I've heard that you can only take frigs and destroyers into the level 2 missions, anyone got any more info on this?

Some of the deadspace areas are frig and destroyer only, some others would let in assualt frigs but not cruisers, others would let in everything up to HAC. I think its just a case of suck it and see.
I love the multiple branches within each deadspace area (i.e. multiple acceleration gates taking you to different arenas).

All the COSMOS missions except the mini-profession missions are set one-completion-per-character. So if you fail (for whatever reason) you should be able to try again. If not, that is a bug and should be reported.
And before you ask, all the agents that give out mini-profession mission (there are 14 in all) have only 1 mission each, but you can complete them again and again.

My big problem with these COSMOS missions is that the spawn rate on some of the rats is waaaaaaaay out of whack. I don't know if they have the same problem down in Ani, but as far as Okkelen is concerned finding what you need to complete a mission is often nigh on impossible. For example, some of the early missions ask for such things as:
Nugoeihuvi Dogtags Propel Dynamics Dogtags Wiyrkomi Rifles Encoded Lai Dai Reports
But the NPC's that drop them spawn so hilariously infrequently that it would be hard for just ONE guy to collect enough to complete a mission, let alone the 50+ who are currently trying, and this is just in one complex, the Contested Lai Dai Refinery in Airmia. Only one part of that complex spawns NPC's at a sensible rate, and that's the Guristas Spy Outpost. It's even maybe a little TOO fast, but better to have too many than zero.
These missions are fresh and interesting and fun for newcomers, with some interesting rewards and some nice standings increases, but please PLEASE increase the spawn rate of the NPC's that drop the mission completion goods, it is absolutely inadequate as it stands.
