If you are at war with an alliance things can be made easier, by following the steps below:

1. Open Overview Settings
2. Select 'Columns'
3. Tick 'Ally'

The Alliance tag will now be visible on the overview.

So i just found out the hard way that i have this bug too.
Thinking the usual clear cache etc would help i reformatted my pc (was due for reformat anyway) to go ingame to see yet still my overview is bugged.

Has anyone managed to solve this anyhow or has there been any comment on it by anyone?
It really isn't a viable option to rely on overview atall when it's like this.

I will be taking ss's of all my engagements and will fireupon anything that the overview states i can kill, if i lose any ships to concord i will be petitioning for replacements for my losses WITH ss's

Good luck if you petition. I petitioned this bug and got an answer to the effect of "there is no proof your ship was lost due to a problem with the game or server."

WTF??? What a joke, sometimes these folks need to get a clue.

So, in closing, sorry folks, this is not a bug and not a by product of the last patch since you can't prove it's happening. It all in your mind or you need your eyes checked.

The problem here is that everytime your game freezes
(quite often theese days) the overview settings are set
back to the useless original settings.
I mean why the hell do you set a -5 sec to blinking red
and war target to red? Almost shot a rat in empire due to
this bug.

I did a reformat of my harddrive, there's not much more i can do is there?

Going into battle just isn't possible when you can't trust your overview, even with friendlies set to apparently not display you get all sorts of people displaying as corp/gangmates which makes you hesitate locking/firing and by then it's often too late and you're dead before you've done anything.

Think if we make this thread long enough we may get some kinda official comment on it?

Doubt it. I got a lame ass answer from a GM in regards to this "new feature" that entered the game with the last patch.

I petitioned a very short time after I experienced war targets not actually appearing on my overview at all and recieved the same response as Cowboy.

The best explanation I have had is that it may be caused by a corrupt data file in my cache. The cache that I now clear before each gaming session due to the numerous, everpresent, bugs in the game. I get about 1, maybe 2 corrupt files on my system in a year of extremely heavy use... well, until I started playing EVE. Apparently now I am spewing corrupt data all over my HDD every day. Must be, else why would EVE consistently be acting as if bugged.

Oh and 'connection problems'. Always causing me CTDs with resultant memory dumps these 'connection problems'. Not the client crashing at all. Shame these 'connection problems' don't show as big spikes on any number of the traceroutes I've run, else I could maybe pinpoint where they are happening.

So, basically, if it isn't logged on the server then it's not their problem. Which is interesting since I would have thought problems caused by lack of client reliability and general client instability would be also. Especially after a major patch.

Apparently not.

I've had better CS from Sony, and if that isn't damning I don't know what is.

Arguably my opinions represent to an extent the opinions of my alliance and in particular circumstances give rise to a valid "casus belli" claim.

Last night, jumped into a system to ganks some hostiles on the other side. There were multiple instances of each hostile! I could not lock the 'Ghost' ships. Later, I warped from a gate to a station and the overview said I was still 12k from the gate.

This is bad. The whole PvP world revolves around the overview.

Well it just got a whole lot worse for me. Maybe i just didn't notice it before with the sheer amount of hostile ships on my screen but i just warped to a stargate and noticed a red square sitting above it. Looking at my overview which is set to display enemies only i think "Phew, nothing on overview, it must be a bugged ally". Apparently not, the ship was infact a hostile.

So it now appears that not only do some hostiles not appear on overview atall but most that do are highlighted as friendlies.

So i can't do a single thing as i cannot even rely on overview to actually display hostile ships, if they appeared as friendly it'd be better than not appearing atall.

I did check my settings and my overview was set to display war targets, bad and horrible standings only.

I'd still like a response from a dev or something, we're just left to stew here. A little recognition would help.

Ok, partial workaround.

In your overview settings, make sure it only has background colours set for hostiles/war targets and that should stop corp and gang mates appearing with a red background (or whatever you have it set at). If you don't set background colours for corp/gang members, it can't accidentally be changed to red.

This doesn't help with the bug where pods appear flagged.

I petitioned about my overview displaying incorrect colours and sometimes not even displaying players atall and am awaiting a response (2 days now).

So today was yet another day where i signed in only to check my skills, i can't risk undocking if anybody hostile is anywhere near my system so i don't.

I'm going to keep bumping this till it gets fixed or i cancel my accounts.
