So we know that Super Caps are being nerfed and many tears flood the forums while Super Pilots commit their sadness to the moon. This is all enjoyable but it begs me to ask a question.
What is the lore reason for this? What factors are causing Supers to no longer field non-fighter drones? What is causing them for structural weakening? I can figure that new technology is being implemented into the Dreadnoughts for their increase but what causes the Supers to become weaker?

Sadly, I wasn't invited - else supers would have enjoyed a real fix instead of this mild rebalance.

Supercap pilots just forgot how to use them. Their balls got so big that their body cant deliver enough blood to their brain. Their language center got damaged too, resulting in a lot of hilarious whine threads in the forum. ;) |

Since they can't dock, SC pilots miss out all the CQ fun.
In order to address this injustice, dronebays on Supercaps are turned into CQs. Both, Titans and SCs will receive a right click option called 'watch door' located right between the self destruct and eject options.

The lore reason for any nerf is a retcon. It was always like this.
Unless you think there could possibly be an in-universe reason for everyone arbitrarily deciding to downgrade their armor plating and shield generators by the same 20% amount. |

A lot are just titan/super alt pilots, they will still be it at the end, they will just have to use a little more brains instead of afk second account mining ice in gallente space

Navy Doctrines would probably force admrials to focus using thier fighters more, i mean thats what they are paid to do not sit around while some drone 'steals der jobs'.
Concord Conventions could have illegalized the practice.
BUDGET CUTS are always a big one all answer.
Hacker/Rogue Drone Virus, Gallente have already lost alot of ships of these drones going rouge inside thier own bay which promtly went to munching on the crew and the ships' insides. It just makes sense that they shouldnt expose carriers to such threats.
New Electronic Passive warfares makes it harder for fighters to lock guns onto.
Hull armor and shields hp reduction can be explained by better weapon upgrades ammos and firing controls being distributed and there is no way curerntly to compensate for that on these large ships as they already did that once before which lead to thier massive HP ballon in the first place.
Smaller ships already done figured it out and can compenstate better.

For the HP downgrade, I would agree with the guy a few posts above: It's not an actual loss, it's a recalibration. Ship guns are more effective against supercaps now, as they are easily upgraded and modified, whereas supercap hulls are so huge (and old, in design) that it's pretty much impossible to upgrade their systems to compensate.
For drone bay reduction (remember: the drone bay is still there, that's what the fighters are in. It's just smaller and can't hold actual (robotic) drones): Maybe there was some vital piece of kit or something, an update to the design, and it couldn't go anywhere but part of the drone bay (which was coincidentally the part with the drone racks).
(Also this should really be in EVE Fiction.)
Let's...just assume there's some kind of signature here, 'k?
