somewhere in my corpmate's POS researching he decided that a CA was supposed to be linked between a reactor, and a silo, so that when you offlined the silo to collect the material the CA would collect the material from the current cycle and it wouldn't be lost . . . .
I've yet to see it "collect" anything, and can't find any relevant information on what it's supposed to be used for, if anything.
i have a sneaky suspicion we're wasting fuel on this thing.

Edited by: Ticondrius on 09/07/2005 01:21:50 Your sneaky suspicion would be correct. I just removed the last CA from my POS production line. They can be useful where consumption rates differ, like where a med reactor (thus a simple reaction) is feeding a large reactor's complex reaction.

CA are an oddity, as they are the same m3 as a silo, yet hold 7% of that a silo can.
they are usefull for feeding a simple reaction if you have to cart the second reactant from another planet. or between a reactor and a silo if yo want to unload the silo without loosing a reaction cycle.
you wont see it collect anything though, as it moces it from the reactor to the silo, and unless you have the silo offline for more than an hour, it wont acumulate anything in it.
I offlined most of mine, except for the ones that my 3rd moon miner is harvesting into.

It is just like a silo. It just has less power/cpu reqs and less capacity. You can use a second silo in the same manner as you can link the input and output of a silo. |

I have seen items in a CA. I just happened to have my silo offline to unload when a cycle finished. Without that in there, I believe the cycle would have been lost, or the reactor would have had to skip a cycle due to storage issues.

hum in a CA you can :
=> Store 1 500/100*2 = 30Hours of input from medium reactor to reactor => Store 15 hours of simple reaction for a reactor => Store more of "gaze"
for me it's useless .... i don't want to manage 1 time per day and being slave of my POS .... ---------------------------------------------- Alt of Simon Illian We are the BoBo. We are not monkey Don't fear the death, only enjoy the play.

The arrays are far from useless...just very situational. ------------------------------------------------ Black Lotus Official Forums - www.blacklotusclan.com Contact Me - [email protected] |
