Is this thing worth training? Is anyone aware of any of the modules to activate this skill even available? The description of it seems rather interesting, but really no point in training at this time if unavailable.
Any rumours, hints, suggestions greatly appreciated. CJ

this skill requires a skill only avaible on creation. astrology or some-such skill. so is not for everyone. although for lenght of time needed to train, getting a jump start is not bad. then again the device it allows use of is not ingame yet nor is the ship that can use said device. unless a BattleShip will be capable of carrying it.

I'll try and explain, correct me if I'm wrong.
Jump drives are for titans, so you probably won't be using them any time soon. I think they function as mobile jump gates, allowing titans to jump across systems whenever they want.
But, I could be mistaken. * * *

Barret is right but I was under the impression you could equip them on Battleships, dont know for sure though
And now the skill req's are Nav 5, Warp Drive 5, and Science 5, plus of course a hefty 10mil for the skill

Yup...knew about the skill requirements. I was really interested in the modules and ship requirements. Currently training Nav 5. I was only seriously considering this as I will away from game for about 3 weeks and I am deciding which whacked out skill I normally wouldnt train to its full potential should I train :). I wonder if the devs have ever posted anything about Jump Drive.

A battleship is able to fit a jumpdrive. They have enough power and cpu for it. Makes sense since a Titan jumping on its own is rather dangerous. It should have some guardians if it ever jumped into a serious confrontation.

Only devs can confirm this, but by the time titans might become active their story might be changed 5 times or more __________________________

Their value is indescribable. Functioning for those who own them as a mobile base of operations as well as a flagship, Titans turn the tides of war with their mere presence. Aside from their blistering armament and many-metres-thick armour, they boast the ability to transport entire fleets within their hulks across entire star systems. Their mind-boggling mass can cause small ships to become trapped in the gravity bow-wave before them.
...
The construction of a Titan has, in recent years, become an option available to more than just the richest of empires. With the advent of exploration, new resource-rich worlds have been discovered. For the construction of an Amarr corporation’s newest fleet addition, a lush, tropical moon was decided as a prime source for resource extraction. After decades of aggressive strip-mining, the moon's surface had been mostly torn away. At the cost of tens of thousands of Minmatar slave lives, the Titan was complete, leaving the moon a devastated, tectonically unstable hell.

Look at thier cargo holds on eve-i - they can fit maybe a few large frigates.

yup ... the newbie frigs already need about 15000 cargo space ...
so i doubt a Titan currently known can carry cruisers or friggies ....
perhaps in the future there might be Titans capable of transporting cruisers ... but i doubt they will have a lot of Hi and medium slots ... ---------------

actually I did the calculations, and it turns out that if the titan cargo hold is correct, they can move 5 cruisers (the biggest size unable to mount a jump drive, notice)

50k cargohold on the leviathan titan (minmatarr)
8 low slots with say basic expanders for the fact they are very very widely available...
someone else figure the maths out (17.5% time 8 on 50k space)

Titans can hold other ships, but not with PC's in the ships. The DEV's did say that. So, you can move ships, but you must get there yourself. :(

500,000. Not 50,000. The math? Sure. Basic expanders only: (1.15^8)*500000 = 1,529,511 m3
A caracal cruiser = 92000m3. |

CCP should concentrate on making specific jump drives for each type of ship.
That way its fair for everyone.

bah, the whole point of the jump drive is that its such an advantage that it cannot be given to all ships

incorrect, check the titan stats, in combat they do not measure up to BSes (power grid and CAP), every ships has a different function.

Titans arent finished yet so stop wasting your breath talking about them.
They wont be available for a long time either, when they finally will be they will be totally different than they were in beta.

in a way i think it would be cool to have a titan equipped for war. have specialized titan guns that can vaporize a cruiser in a single shot... just couple this with their extremely cumbersome maneuvering and maybe make them unable to use jump gates (too large?) and it would be fun.
never mind that, i was just talking out of my ass for a bit. "To be content,to be comfortable, is to be complacent. No one learns anything from pleasure..pain on the other hand is a most efficient instructor" |

Oh no! I don't think we should be seeing Titans as frequently as we see battleships. You're being a bit too "casual" about something that takes such an immense amount of resources to build. Titans should make people go "whoa", rather than "Oh, nice ship. we got the minmatar and caldari one." Oh, and it'd be downright stupid to use a Titan for combat when a battleship or 2 would be so much better at it for a mere fraction of the cost :-)

titan is absolutely not for combat, if you want to take a ship with 1000 armor/shield, 10km targeting range, 10x or even 100x cost more than battleship to combat.. then what should i say?

Is far as i know from the Titan, it wasn`t allowed to enter a Solar System cauze of its big mass that would make planets jump out of their orbit! So how do u want to start a battle with them? what would cauze 2 titans in a Astro Belt? :D
I think it will be mobile Stations, with little defence, but much Armor. So u can place them next to a solar system, for example when u r mining in a 0.0 Sector with no Station in the area. |

Titans:
VERY VERY VERY large cargo space.
Lots of lasers.
Jump drives.
Crap shields.
2 max locked targets :p
means - great industrial ship, crappy fighter.
Titans are something only mega corps are gonna be able to get, ie TTi, Everlasting etc...
