Hi there just a quick question. I have seen reference in several posts to the ability to stop training a skill train up another and then go back to training the original skill. All without loss of skill points. Is this still possible? If so how?
I seem to lose any points I have gained through training if I end the training before completion. ----------------------- Cold Fusion Inc. Website |

Always switch to another skill to train. Never abort training

Just start training another skill. You will get a popup asking if you really want to stop learning Skill X, you say yes and a new skill starts to train while the other one keeps the points you had trained up to at the moment you switched (sometimes 10 points are deducted, presumably a lag thing? but that's just a few seconds anyways)
Nota bene some people say that this does lose them skill points, I've never seen it happen for me but I don't rule out some bugs out there on other systems.

well I was on "completion imminent" on a 40 hour skill and I switched skills(did not abort) and I lost "ALL" the points!
I switched to a skill I had just bought so I dont know if that had anything to do with it.
I'll never do THAT again! hehe

I have lost count of the number of times Ive jumped from one skill to another and I have NEVER lost any points i had already acrued through training. That message is a bug and you suffer no ill effects.
It amazes me that some people still worry about going back a station to start training a new skill as we all know you cannot start training a 'new' (ie book) skill without being docked. Well what I do is:
Say I buy 4 skills at same time at a station, I select one and start training it then immediately select another one train, thus switching , rinse and repeat until all skills are started. Then once in Space away from dock you can chop and change training as you see fit without returning to station.
Apologies if you all already do this but I just think its so much easier.
So HMV consider Andy Williams and Dean Martin to be "easy listening" do they? Tell that to my mate Dave, he's been deaf for 20 years.

Vibrant,
There's a bug in the current build that causes your skill to appear to be all the way trained, and saying "completion imminent" when it's not. This typically occurs when you CTD while a skill is actively training.
The real issue is that the skill is no where near complete, and training stops. I've had this happen to me personally several times, and know others have had it happen as well.
Right now, to be safe, always check your skill after any sort of CTD or server disconnect, and if necessary switch to a new skill and back to the old one.
