Thats the truth. I am in Ammantar, 0.4 space doing agent missions. I have lost 3 ships ( 2 Rifters, 1 Destroyer) to aggressors (player controlled). Concord never once helped me. Well, for some reason, not sure why, I lock on to another player, I assumed its because they locked on me. So with my previous experience I lock and fire. Owned by a gate gun.
Fine. I head back to the station. Buy another ship, locate all the parts I need in the region and purchase them. Undock, BAM!! Owned by the station.
So here I am, a new player (4 days) in 0.4 space with no ship and 90k isk.
WTF is all I can say.

Understanding game mechanics helps.
Stay in .5 and above until you know the rules and risks is the best advice I can give you.

Don't shoot people at gates, you will not have the experience or the neccesary skills to take them down.
When you get some more experience then you can get some revenge. In the mean time find a mission agent in a 0.5 or above.
Btw you can only shoot people that are 'red' on the overview, this means that they have agressed.
Hope that helps.

This may help
Its about criminal flaggingLinkage
You can shoot BACK if someone shoots at you (if you survive) You cannot pre-empt this and shoot at someone who has locked you.

Locking is not aggression according to Concord so some players use it, particularly against new players, for griefing. You are not allowed to shoot/scramble/jam etc anyone except if that person has:
(a) Shot/scrambled/jammed etc. you (in which case the sentry's have already started shooting at him; or
(b) A bounty of <-5.0 (I think that's right anyway... )
After an act of aggression Concord will be on your a$$ for about 15min; but wait for 30 to be sure before you undock or go near stargates.
The general rules are:
1. Don't shoot at anything in high sec (0.5-1.0).
2. Don't shoot at other players around stations and stargates in low sec (0.1-0.4). Concord will NOT get you if you kill players in asteroid belts, moons or if you've located a safe spot. But if you kill a player in an asteroid field, for example, Concord will still get you if you happen to warp to a gate/station (for the same duration 15-30 min).
3. Anything goes in 0.0 (except some 0.0 systems that have sentry guns at stations; think they're in some Amarr systems but have never seen them).
. . .

Wait 20 minutes from the time you last shot someone to undocking. If you had no ship in station when you docked then just undock in the noob ship that was given to you. That way you can see if the sentries are still angry at you without risking a "proper" ship.
I could be wrong but the ISK was a gift, not a loan.

To clarify: that's a security rating of -5 or less. You may NOT shoot at someone merely because there is a bounty on his head of however many ISK.

Concord will get you if you attack someone in a asteroid belt, just with ships not sentry guns. Thats why "suicide" kestrels are namded that way.

They are called "Empire 0.0" to make it clear that it's not real .0 You could say them as a 0.1 but devs wanted to make "0.0" with empire protection .
Oh and concord won't protect you in 0.4 or below. 0.5 upwards they will. _______________________________________________ My opinions aren't my corporations opinions.

yarrr more greedy ppl whining
Sorry, i know I will sound like a jerk AND get flamed but really: a 4 day old player shudnt go to low sec alone, ESPECIALLY if he didnt bother to check forums/ask around for how low sec agression mechanics work... afaik you can decline a mission every 4 hours so ur not forced to go down in low sec just for running missions if you dont want to.
Well my 2 cents hope it didnt sound too harsh... (why wont anyone go mine btw?)

This hasn't been the case for several months anymore now Rod. U can happily logoff and 30 mins later login and you will have no more aggro. Unless this was changed to what you are saying in the last patch.

stay in 0.5...you did not see the part he was running missions...
CCP could redo the mission system to NOT send players that are new (noobs) into low sec space until they have been in the game for a month...would help to keep those noobs from quiting the game during the 2 week trial...(more players, more RL $ for CCP, and more targets for the gankers later)

Maybe, still, unless I misunderstood - this guy is playing since 4 days (FOUR). He has been sent in low sec by a mission, and got blown.
Then, without bothering asking to friends/forums/rookie channel he goes and shot some random guy, thus walking out in a pod and docks too early hence losing another ship.
Ok so far.
Next he comes on the forum and claims the game is UNFAIR TO NEW PLAYERS.
Now, without sounding condescending, I think a good way to help him is to inform the dude that the game is quite ruthless even to noobs and that going into low sec will simply get you killed unless you know what you are doing. (and on a personal note I dont think low sec space is designed for 4 day old players to make a living out of it, mind I didnt say characters, I said players)
P.S.: On the mission issue: either a. run mission elsewhere further from low sec b. decline low sec missions and wait 4 hours c. make your isk by mining or running trades, then u can stay in safe space

At one point they introduced a system whereby agents sent you to systems with a sec lvl not significantly different to the one they were in. Therefore take agents in higher sec systems as one in a 0.5 will obviously send you into 0.4 at least. Mind you a lvl 3 agent in a 0.9 or so system would send me on courier missions into 0.4 on a regular basis which may be due to the higher the lvl the broader the range of sec lvls they send you to. On the other hand since we've just had a new content patch its quite possible that that system may now be broken (know one pilot who got 6 extravaganza mission in a row which may be acceptable in a genuinely random selection but this is pseudo rnadom blus they don't want to bore the customers so probably a broken mission selection system)

Hi,
Okay..it was a lvl 1 mission that sent me to dead space in that system.
In regards to the rules of engagement, how am I supposed to know? I read the forums, and it seems that even a lot of the more experience players are not sure.
Anyways, I know the risks of 0.4, and I am willing to take them. Why? If I finish these missions within the time frame of the bonus, I can rake in 40 - 75k every 15 min. I made a million isk yesterday
I enjoy the "tension" of low sec. After fighting off two Rifters in my Destroyer, I don't think I ever want to leave. Mining, Trading and all that don't appeal to me.
When I get home tonight looks like I will be entering the credit card info.

for informational purposes..
the sentrys you see in 0.0 at stations, generally will NOT fire on you unless you shoot the station it's self, the sentrys are there to protect the NPC station, i not sure if this applies to senrtys at gates in 0.0.

The thing is most griefers are bored and shooting new players 0.4 is the only way they have fun. You will never see them in 0.0 due to fear of facing a real fight and possibly losing a ship. They use Concord to protect them since they know that no one bothers them in 0.4 and they get all the new players to grief all day.

Look man; is it nice to be a stereotypical dim-witted incoherent jackass? Seriously if you donÆt know who and what youÆre insulting then why insult? It makes absolutely no sense why youÆre comparing ôreal-lifeö to the roles we play in the game. There is also no sense in insulting all players who fight in 0.4 as non-pvp players who never been out to 0.0 space. So please quit with all the moronic posts about insulting players in there roles unless you KNOW THEM PERSONALY!
