Not a huge amount of loading i would guess.
However, i would seriously reccomend that you have some good cooling in your case.

pick a different user and enter the password. (You may need to create a user on your machine for this...give it aleast power user rights)
log into your second account.
You can not log into eve with the same account twice you need a second account.
I have ran clients for hours this way without any problems.

Edited by: ALUN on 12/07/2005 03:38:04 have one or both accounts in a smaller windowd mode with low gfx settings in the eve esc menu to reduce gfx lag and load on your gfx card. Also, this is best done on a system with a pentium chip with HT, hardly no lagging then.
You do 2 accounts at same time on an Athlon based pc and unless its ultra fast chip then the lag builds up pretty quick and may eventually cause a ctd to one or both accounts.

Well i run 3 accounts at the same time on one amd athlon xp 2600 with 1gb ram and a ati radeon 9800 xt. As long i turn the sound off i can play 8 hours or more without any ctd or any other probs. but i noticed the new patch lowered the performance for a small tick if running all 3 acc's. seems to be local network lag somehow... but im not sure. |

Its not graphics that are the problem with running multiple clients, its the CPU. Ever looked at the percentage that EVE uses of your CPU? Its normally over 70%. So 2 clients that want over 70% doesn't work, hence you get lag. Obviously lowering settings will help, but so far i haven't found a way of it using less CPU. A P4 with HT will help a lot.

Not under win2k. I am running both clients (separate EVE accounts) on the same system user (administrator).

I used to be able to run 3 clients with no problems. Sound on, etc. P4 3.0, HT, 1 GiG mem, GeForce 5200FX. Now, with the current patch I can only run 2 clients with sound. The third client, whichever order I pick it in, causes my to PC restart after a minute, give or take (I start to hear a stutter in the sound). So I have to run without sound. That's seems a bit much. Like watching TV with no sound.
Of course all my drivers are updated. I was advised by support to write "audio=0" in the perf file in the cache, and in fact to label cache as cache2 so another cache would be formed. How can they write a patch where you have to, for all effect, delete your current cache? Sounds like bad programming.
Early tests indicate I can turn on sound on 2 accounts once all 3 are up, but I can't hear the mining lasers. Turning the thrd account's sound on causes the same restart. I'm not satisfied with this patch.

Well, enough of that rant, I found a way to use 3 accounts with this latest patch with sound. I turn Hardware Acceleration to "none" and Sample Rate Conversion Quality to the lowest setting. Not sure if the latter makes a difference but you can experiment. I get a small buzz or sound blip every minute or two, but the game seems stable and I can hear. With Acceleration at the next to lowest setting, I get the blips every few seconds, but it still seems stable. Hope that helps someone.
