Maybe someone can help me out with some dreadnough questions: - From what i read from the posted facts, Dreads can`t use jumpgates, rely on their jumpdrives which need fuel and another pilot who uses a beacon at the target loaction to which the dread wants to jump, and it only can jump to systems with a sec rating of 0.4 and lower. Now my questions: -- How do they navigate in a system? Lets say you want to warp to a moon or a belt, do you again need a pilot who activates a beacon at target location or is inner system travel the same as with all ships? -- How far can a Dread jump. As i checked the skills, one mentioned it raises jump distance if i remember right, does that mean that a dread will be albe to jump from A to B in one jump, where a normal bs has to pass through 5 stargates? If yes, any guesses on max jumping distance? -- You only can "jump" to systems with 0.4 sec or lower, goes that mean you can still build them in sec space, and then just need <0.4 systems withing jump range? Anyone who can enlighten me on my thoughts here? Thanks in advance!

I can answer that you can build them in high sec, because its only their jumping beacon thing that can only be deployed in low sec, so that would then be deployed for the dread to jump...

http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=253 "Dreadnoughts are too big for stargates; the only way for them to enter another solar system will be by using jump drives."
Did they change it again? Because when the devs first showed the dreads on Singularity, Hammer said they'd be able to use gates. Then TomB posted this blog saying they can't use gates.

They CAN use gates, it was said in a later blog. They can warp from point to point too, but expect a from 0 to warp speed of over a minute.
Also i'd bet they only warp at 1/2 au a second. No idea on the distance of jumping, I heard it was a sphere that goes outwards when you open your map and attempt a jump.

somewhere or other they said "5 light years" as a base which can be increased with skills.
no idea what "5 light years" really is in terms of the universe map but we'll find out Im guessing. +++
It's called "low security space" for a reason. |

What later blog? The latest, blog on dreadnaughts and jump drives clearly states that Dreadnaughts can not use stargates...

My bad sorry, i did find a part where they said they could use gates, now they seem to have changed their minds again... shouldn't be surprised at CCP though.
Dreads would be rather expensive though, all that ice used up by jumping.

I think that's half the point. The other half being that they will require significant logistics operations for any kind of extended deployment.

Yeah i guess you're right there, I've read now that when a cyonosural field is generated there is a right click option to warp to it from anywhere in the system o.0
I can forsee many annoyed people at trying to "Sneak" dreadnaughts around, otherwise i guess that poor guy with the field active is going to have "Light me up, i dare ya" written all over him more so then a hauler without stabs in 0.0 lol...

"Yeah i guess you're right there, I've read now that when a cyonosural field is generated there is a right click option to warp to it from anywhere in the system o.0"
Aye, along with special filter for the map which shows the fields active at given moment.
Guess moving a dreadnaughts anywhere will involve 50+ people: half for escorts, and the other half in small ships with their own beacon modules, to activate them in random places and act as decoys... :s
