I was wondering is there a possible way to make money with exploration without doing the combat sites? Seems that I only make 100k doing them so not really worth the time it takes to move a combat ship to each system. I fly a buzzard so able to go into low sec no problem. I was also wondering what sites should I be looking for the get isk/loot IGÇÖm not expecting to make 100 mil plus but it be nice to make 10-20 mil a day doing exploration. Thanks for your time! |

Various things.
Bring a probe launcher on your combat ship and refit it at a local station when you find a signature if its too hard to fight with it fitted.
Or base your exploration in a circle round the combat ships station (that might mean permanently basing it somewhere that affords a lot of systems in relatively few jumps.
Or Fit your combat ship for probing and doing radars, or use an assault frigate for it.
Know the difference between anoms, unrated sigs and ded rated combat sigs. ded rated combat sigs are most valuable per unit of time spent in them.
Recognise that sigs are clumped because clearing sigs is an action that other explorers do. Finding a radar often means you'll find other sites nearby, they are sign that an explorer hasn't been through too recently.
Being patient probing until you find some sigs is important, and long term recognising that some places you find more sigs than others is also important. |

Ok first off combat sites make a LOT of money DED 3/10 4/10 sites are what you are looking for. (high sec)
3/10 can have 70 -110 million drops. 4/10 can have 150-300 million drops
As for non combat sites

Radar and Mag sites are ok in low sec , but they might have some combat in them. i.e rats! |

Might as well. If you're sticking to high sec the chances of losing it are very low and you'll stand a better chance competing if someone else crashes a site you're in.

You say per hour, yet your numbers are quite far apart. How can this be?

Because exploration gives random rewards, the most important thing is to be able to roll the dice as many times as possible, i.e., run as many sites in as short a period of time as possible. If you can find lots of sites in highsec and run them, then do that. If you can run lots of sites in lowsec without being interrupted by people trying to shoot you in the face, do that.
Buzzard is going to struggle to run any meaningful sites in lowsec though. If you want to use a frig, assault frigs can run the profession sites with no problem. (Almost?) all the low Radar & Mag sites have rats in them, but they're doable in assault frigs if you pick your natural resists wisely. Also, lowsec Mags start dropping T2 salvage in abundance making them exponentially more viable than highsec ones.
I think the other people covered everything else, but just once more:
tl;dr Increase the amount of sites/hr you're running! |

i use a vexor navy in 0.2 and do that kind of sig since monthe, the worst i had my ship was 50% armor, because i forgot to turn my rep on!
so any cruiser with a correct fit can do thoses.
as for the combat one, a good BC can do some, strat cruiser is the ship of choice otherwise, can do em all, and can sneak through potential hostiles fleet / camp etc... |

For low sec use a t1 cruiser.
Most pirates wont care enough to scan you down and if they do who cares...its a t1 cruiser.

THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO MEASURE ISK REVENUE Just apply a standard deviation to your isk per hour. Taking today as a representative sample I made 0+/-0isk per hour in lowsec. /moan (apart from opas but they dont count) |

God. I hope you don't post on our forum like this.
Unfortunatley, the point stands. If you summed up the amount of isk you made through exploration and divided it by however many hours you did it in a MONTH, you might, might, get an accurate result. Even then, that result has no real bearing on what you're going to make tomorrow or even the next month.
It's truly a random process. Random to find sites, random to get loot from them. |
