I want to do reaseach missions but I need some help.
I got the right skill - spoke to an R & D nps - and now if I click my mission log there is a line there, so something is happening.
What do I do next ? CEO - |

Nothing I do believe....unless he requests you to do something for him.

Once you start research with an agent, he will evemail you after 24 hours asking for a mission. You will still gain RP (research points) without doing the mission, but if you complete the mission, you get bonus one days worth of RP. Once you finish the mission, in another 24 hours he will evemail you again with another.
I wouldn't bother doing R&D agent missions for the bonus, unless you frequent the area where he lives.
I've got 4 agents, combined total RP of over 250k (110k in one agent alone). ********** Everyone deserves to die. You go first.

Edited by: Expendable Soldier on 11/07/2005 17:12:18 my research agents dont show up on my standings sheet.... is this correct? My social skills dont modify the research agent? How bogus is that?
So all you get for doing research missions is an extra serving of research points and thats it?
I thought you use to be able to actually raise your agent's standings towards you and actually get him to raise his daily rate permanently? WTF

R&D agents don't have personal standings. Doing missions for them only gives RP bonuses. If you want more RP, train the specific skill for that field to a higher level, or do agent missions for an agent in the same corp, but non-R&D. Dunno if higher personal standing affects daily RP values tho. ********** Everyone deserves to die. You go first.

can anyone verify if higher corp standings gives you more RP's?

I can say that for me, the RP's do not change based on my standing with Kallakiota. Only way is to research the specific area of research. I agree with the previous post that doing their missions are awaste of time unless your near them. they are so spread out, you spend more time traveling to them just to pick up something minor and deliver it to them.

How do you get those research missions? i've got an research agent now for a couple of days and not a single mission from him. If i go to talk to him all i can say is "I want to take my research elsewhere"

You have to fly out to them and talk to them to get a mission. After that they will evemail you asking you to help. But either way you still have to fly out to them to get the request..not really a mission...they want you to go out and buy something they need to speed up your research or carry papers somewhere.

As i've said the only thing i can talk to him about is "I wish to take my research elsewhere" if i do that it prompts me asking if i'm sure if i wish to cancel my research. There is nothing else i can ask him. I now got 91.31 RP with 25.25 RP/day and still haven't heard a word about a mission from this dude.

research agents will call you, you dont call them.
it just takes some time for the bloodsuckers to evemail you saying something is wrong. then you can take a mission.
overall research is a scam though and i wouldnt put any money into it. RP's will accuumulate even if you dont do missions.

I know you say that its a scam blah blah, I rarely do the missions but I do back to visit my research agent once in a while. Now I know that every RP constitutes a ticket in ye olde grand BPO Lottery but is it really that simple as to start research and forget.
I know its a game of chance but do people like me who rarely visits his research agent have as much chance as a guy who does the missions religiously every day??
I know officially CCP says its all to do with a single random point aka ticket, but I am sure they have an uber database somewhere favouring those that play the research game day in day out, what are your thoughts people??

nope there isnt preferential treatment.. i can verify that by saying people with 250,000 RP points still ahvent gotten anything while friends of mine with 4000-8000 points are winning left and right.
Its a lottery

Are those people with 250000 points doing there missions all the time or just leaving them alone, and the guys with the low amount of points doing their missions everyday? That was my point.
I wondered if your research had to be ongoing to get a BPO, you know before you get the BPO your account must be clean by not having an outstanding 'we have a problem' with the agent.

Research agents are like any other agents... you have to ahve a good standing with a particular corp in order to use them (usually around 6.0 or higher)
The catch is that the corp you are working for may not have a Research department. So find one that does and then get your standings up... its pretty simple... and yes you can do other stuff while engaged to a research agent.
