I can talk in local, but I haven't found a way to see which local I'm talking in.
How can I find out which system I'm in? |

ask in local, there's no other way to know from the Dust side. Maybe you could use a locator agent EVE side too.

Ok.
Perhaps Dust514 is different enough from EVE that it doesn't really matter that much?
Still weird though... |

Well you currently can't move as a Dust mercenary. Even when you're fighting in lowsec on some planet, you'll still be docked in your hisec local station. |

Enter an instant battle and check the player list. The location will be at the top. zubzubzubzubzubzubzubzub |

Is this only for the battle or also when I'm in the station? I'm not sure if I can talk in local in the middle of combat?

It's DUST I'm asking about (which is why the question is in this section), I already know about EVE. I only talk in local when I'm in the "Captains quarters" or whatever that area is called, and I haven't seen a system name in the upper left corner there, so I assume you're referring to EVE? |

Don't let the uninformed people above get you astray. You can talk in local during a battle, and you'll still keep talking to the same people as you were talking to when you were in your Mercenary Quarters. That battle might indicate that you are on Autama IV (or some other system), even though your local channel is not Autama, but whatever npc-starting system you were born in.
As I said, you don't move systems in the EVE universe currently with Dust. |

Autama IV is the Taipei Mercenary Battles; I'm fairly certain that is a special case. zubzubzubzubzubzubzubzub |

Similar to Eve Online players, various dust 514 players have their own starter systems. There isn't a good list out there but basically ask local and hopefully an eve pilot might answer you.
As for not moving for the fights, they're monitoring game impact before allowing it and measuring to see if its feasible to do it with the back end systems.

Seems everything happens in Autama IV. All my recent battles have anyhow. I'm fair certain that before a short while ago things were different as I don't even recall Autama being one of the locations I payed attention to. zubzubzubzubzubzubzubzub |
