besides barges, Armageddon is a pretyt nice miner fitted with miner 2 beams.

think i heard a apoc with 8 moded deepcore miners could outmine a large barge...
maybe some truth in it

Wow, I might look into both a barge for my main miner and a apoc for my combat char. Can put some miner 2 and some weapons in the combat one. Seems the best of both worlds as far as solo mining goes.

Apocalypse has much more survivability than any mining barge in any situation. Put 1 or 2 CPU's in low to let you take 8 miner II's and fill the rest with CPR's and 1 Large Armour repper, and you can tank pretty much anything but the BS-spawns in deep space.
Besides, Large Mining barge takes way too much time to train for, is good for only mining, and is marginally better than the fully mining-equipped Apoc.

Indeed an apoc can outmine a large barge...
I drive one and man they rock
high slots 8x modulated deep core miner IIs with crock crystals
med slots all Cap recharger IIs
Lows 3x tech II cpu 1x RCU II 2 hardeners 1x large tech II rep
and a bay with 6 meds and harvs
it takes about 20 mins to fill a jetcan
AWESOME IMO

And this is why anyone whining about barge yields or boosts needs to stfu. Apocs with 10x the surviability and matching, even surpassing covetor yields is bull. |

Large Barge still mines faster. Apoc might have the survivability b/c well it's a BS and shouldn't be used for mining. I can fill a jet can using Strip Miner 1's on a large barge in 13-15mins. It's even faster with Strip Miner 2's and T2 crystals.

Well the large barge should b the best miner in the game, if anything i think they should do something to boost it if u can only out mine a apoc by a litte, especially if u have to spend months trainin for it.

A boost to the barge definatly makes sense otherwise the frieghter builders will run out of trit omg i'm no an economics buff in fact i know nothing about it but logicaly with dreads titans and frieghters out will this not require an improved output of minerals? A boost to the barge could maybe balance this. Plase correct me if my logic is flawed.

dominix imo so far
6 miners and 15 harvies (equals 6 miner 2's at mining drone 3) pull in a nice load, and the bonus factor is the massive 2 wave backup combat heavies, which can handle most anything thrown at ya npc belt wise, and room to tank...not much else you can ask for for a mining loadout imo

My corpies and I did the math....next to a large barge with strip miner II's and tII crystals....the apoc with modulated deep core miner II's and TII crystals is very close. I think the Large barge could fill the can 3min faster than the apoc. But in deep 0.0 the ability to tank your spawn yourself and use harvy drones (9 of em come to mind) makes it more versitile than the barge, (whereas the barge would need a tank and use it's drones for defence). But for veld mining in empire there is no comparison....large barge.

The Apoc is still king of the heap for battleship miners, but even a basic rigged Covetor can out mine an Apoc even with Modulated Deep Core Miner 2Æs, and only a swarm of good mining drones can make up for the gap, but the Covetor can field just as many as the Apoc, so that possibility is muted since they can both do it.
Apoc with miner 2Æs and max mining/astrogeology skill:
Miner 2 yield per minute: 60m3 x 1.25 x 1.25 = 93.75m3 each beam
Apoc with 8 beams is upwards of: 750m3 per minute
Harvester drone with max mining drone skill: 30m3 per minute x 1.25 = 37.5m3
10 harvesters yield upwards of: 375m3
375 from drones and 750 from beams = 1,125m3 per min (if there is no loss due to ore volume mind you)
Apoc w/ Modulated Deep Core Miner 2Æs, max skills and tech 2 crystals:
MDCM2 yield of 120m3 per 180 seconds: 120m3 x 1.25 x 1.25 x 1.75 = 328.125m3 per 180 seconds
Apoc with 8 of them = 2,625m3 per 180 sec (875me per min aprox)
10 harvesters yield upwards of: 375m3
375 from drones and 875 from beams = 1,250m3 per min (aprox)
Covetor with Strip Miner 1Æs and max skill in Mining, astrogeology, and mining barge:
Strip Miner 1 yield of 540m3 per 180 seconds: 540 x 1.25 x 1.25 x 1.15 = 970.3125
Covetor with 3 of them = 2910.9375m3 per 180 sec (970.3125m3 per min aprox)
10 harvesters yield upwards of: 375m3
375 from drones and 970 (aprox) from beams = 1,345m3 per min (aprox)
Covetor with Modulated Strip Miner 2Æs, max skills and tech 2 crystals:
MSM2 yield of 360 per 180 seconds: 360 x 1.25 x 1.25 x 1.15 x 1.75 = 1132.03125m3 per 180 sec
Covetor with 3 of them = 3396.09375m3 per 180 sec (1132.03125m3 per min aprox)
10 harvesters yield upwards of: 375m3
375 from drones and 1132.03125 (aprox) from beams = 1,507m3 per min (aprox)
Second, the Moros (Gallente Dreadnought) with its +5 Drone control per level of Gallente Dreadnought skill is EXTREMELY powerful and a swarm of up to 35 good mining drones can rip up ore like itÆs going out of style.
The ship itself would only use 3 Miner 2Æs or 3 MDCM2Æs, but the drones would more than make up for that turret shortage:
MDCM2 yield of 120m3 per 180 seconds: 120m3 x 1.25 x 1.25 x 1.75 = 328.125m3 per 180 seconds
Moros with 3 MDCM2Æs = 984.375m3 per 180 seconds (328.125m3 per min aprox)
35 harvesters with max mining drone skill: 30m3 per min x 1.25 bonus x 35 total drones = 1312.5m3 per minute
the MorosÆ beams plus drones: 1312.5 + 328.125 = 1640.625m3 per minute.
So theoretically, the Moros is now the most powerful miner in the game, but the caveat is that you need Dreadnought skill lv5 and 35 harvestersà which isnÆt impossible, especially for those of us that ôhordedö them while they still dropped, but for most people, thatÆs asking an awful lot.
We shall see how it pans out in the long run as well.

And a three minute cycle per strip miner... so one mines 970 every three minutes, or three mine 970 every minte.

wellllll apoc does mine more a bit faster than a dominix, but if you are ganna be mining in 0.0 with a group of people the dominix is the way to go. You can still outfit it with all miner 2's etc etc and drones, but then you can also offer to tank the spawn and if people still work the way they did a year ago (which they might not) you can get a good 15-20% of everyone elses yields for being the "defense" all the while mining to your fullest extent which is just barely under that of an apocs, and then work out a deal with the hauler to get your hauling free because they have one of their alts at the belt mining also so you give them free defense they give you free hauling : D make lots of isk that way especially when you got like 5 friends in apocs mining so much hahaha.....
