in over 2 days of constant killing, the first breakage of the blockade in pf-346 has occured.
props to everlasting vendetta for actually getting a force in to fight, im just sad most of our guys had logged out, its turning into a neat little cat and mouse battle.

Does "its turning into a neat little cat and mouse battle." effectively mean, when the numbers are more like equal, you lot warp out with your tails between your legs?

Jobe... Have you Ever heard of a pirate that actually had the guts to fight when both sides were roughly equal in strength? :p

This point has been hammered into the ground, but here goes again.
Pirates are supposed to run when they don't have an overwhelming advantage.
That's what real-life pirates did, and the few that still exist (where else, but in the South Seas, around Singapore), still play a cowardly (or brave?) game of cat and mouse. You have to know when to hold em, and know when to fold em, especially as a pirate.
I recently read an article that modern day pirating is a 5 billion dollar "industry" or so. Now, do you think these pirates would actually want to stick around and fight a naval armada? No, I think not. If they had jump gates, they'd use them.
I am not a pirate ingame, and yes, eve isn't real life (especially since Concord is such a bad police force, incomparable to any naval fleet in the real world). So there are many issues with this comparison, but hey, just throwing out some food for thought.
Pirates are fun, and heck, if pirates didn't boast (and drink), what kind of pirates would they be now? Either bad ones, or the far more sinister ones that live up in corporate headquarters ruling the masses behind closed doors [both in real life, and in EVE].

Any good pirate wouldn't stay and fight if there was too much risk of losing. Why lose ships when we are out to make a profit not a loss?
Only a dumb pirate would stay when there is a good chance he will be destroyed.

<<im just sad most of our guys had logged out>> Sholos, who would say so, but not you. I gues you remeber when you run like this from us. So please hold you mouth shut in that case.

I aint met Everlastting Vendetta in the game but congrats to them if they did break this blockade.
I am sure our CEO and Fighter Wing would be more than happy to back them up if they consider any future actions against Sinister!

"Any good pirate wouldn't stay and fight if there was too much risk of losing. Why lose ships when we are out to make a profit not a loss?"
*shrugs* Being it's a game where you never die for real, the pirate in question might eventually want to make a point it takes more than gathering a large number of ships to scare them off, and whoever tries is bound to lose some of their weapons as well?..
Or simply for *fun* of giving it all you have for once and death be damned, just to break the routine every now and then. So if you lose a ship doing so.. honestly, BFDeal. It's just a game, all you lose is a bunch of pixels... isn't it what the pirates tell their whining victims? :s

hmm Not jsut a bunch of pixels. i mined pyro for 5 days to get my Omen, this 5 days were lost when i lost my Omen. i could have been doing other things in those days so i loose more than jsut pixels.

Actually the Joker Corporation tried attacking myself and a member of mine yesterday. 2 on 2. It was fair except I didnt have my loadout for PvP. They waited by the stargate and locked on to me and started to fire. Hiding behind there +6.7 sec rating. I just hit my mwd, then jumped through the jumpgate and we were waiting for them to follow. So, some pir8s fight fair but then again they should give us a warning so I can outfit my ship properly against them. Instead of attacking when I had my NPC setup going =)

That's how you see it and how i might see it. But given the pirates seem to love this oh-so- convenient excuse (often coupled with "and if you think it's something more then you must be lame and have no liiiiife yukyukyuk") i think it's only fair to apply their own argument to them... isn't it? :S
To be fair though, since the game is supposed to be fun then those days you 'lost' should be days when you were having fun gathering means to get your cruiser... so it's not exactly pure 'loss' to cry about, either....

he wasn't hiding behind anything, he shot you - returning fire is allowed, unless of course you splash something; then you die.
You are in a maze of twisty little asteroids, all alike. |
