OFC people can make up the hits but do they but thats just lame!
Maxed out damage on a Machariel or Tempest cannot achieve that damage, so neither can you.
don't structures have no resistance?

Indeed, and I have the right to point and laugh at the npc damage posts as if it actually means something.
But please ignore me, carry on posting.

Well, this cant be anything else then a display bug or something.. Ive gotten hits around 3k with 1400 t2¦s on a no resistance objects with almost the all the skills for the guns maxed and 6 gyros in the lows. So this hit is kinda unbelivable.
...but with the smaller guns around 500 with the 280 t2 ofc and 1200 with the 720.

Well since you seem to be so convinced there's such a big difference, maybe you'd care to point out what it is for the benefit of us less macho, manly, intelligent - and however else you see yourself as being superior - people.

There is a massive difference between pvp and npc hits mainly due to the fact that npc and pvp setups are almost always different.
Blasting away at a npc or *gasp* structure at your optimal range with max damage mods and ammo specifically setup to waste said npc, whilst knowing that the npc's are never going (or are extremely unlikely) to kill you and claiming this hit as sort of an acheivement is laughable.
/emote points and laughs again
Getting good hits on an intelligent target that is actively trying to do its best to kill you is a world away from npc'ing.
I would have thought you being a member of a respected pvp alliance you would understand this.
And in regard to the macho, manly, intelligent thing, although your compliments are well received, do you actually see me posting hits and beating my chest?

I wouldn't say that there's any more difference between an NPC setup and a PvP setup than there is between one PvP setup and the next. If anything PvP setups tend to have more damage mods these days. Also a lot of PvP setups have lower resistances than NPC's so you're likely to get bigger hits against a player ship, hits on structure are going to be the same for both.
To be quite honest I think that there's very little point in either. It's vaguely interesting to see what kind of damage can be done by ships you don't fly, but other than that it's fairly pointless since there's no context to it.
Maybe I was a little harsh before, but it really gets my back up when people think something like this is more meaningful just because it was PvP. Any idiot can go out in a gang and camp a gate with 20 mates and it's still going to show up as a PvP shot on here. At the same time somebody could go out and solo a 4/10 complex in a frigate and you're going to point and laugh if they post a shot from that up here. IMO the guy doing the 4/10 is showing far more skill, but there's no way in telling that from the hits they would post here. Neither is that skill difference likely to affect the hits that they would get.

Pvp setups that have loads of damage mods fitted tend to be those gank setups that I prefer not to fly unless in a fleet, which then due to game mechanics is unforunately unavoidable.
I agree that there can be skill in pve as well as pvp, but to be honest the whole factor of fighting a living opponent makes the difference for me, in regards to respect of the pilot I am fighting and the satisfaction of the kill (if I don't lose of course )
It the whole posting of hits (npc) that I find laughable, sure we all stick the odd good shot in corp chat for the approval of our mates, but the public thing is a joke. For this very reason:
