Hello,
The problem you describe is called CTD here on the board. CTD stands for Crash To Desktop, just as you describe.
Look for threads with this in the title if you wish to read about others experiences and solutions. If you don't find what you are looking for please post a reply here with some information about your computer.
-Operating system -Audio hardware -Audio driver version -Video hardware -Video driver version
Run dxdiag.exe on your computer. It will look for problems with directx and report them to you.
Good luck! _________________________________________________________

Also have the same problem. I don't have any anti-virus software, and no raid array. Athlon 650 MHz 512 Mb RAM VIA AC'97 sound Geforce 4 Ti4200 I've even had this problem with no programs at all running in the background. Quite a few of the other guys in my corp have also had the same problem. It seems most people that have the same problem (after what I can see above) have a Geforce 4. That's the problem?

Its not just happening to me, it happens to my whole corp. For some reason, we all get booted at the same time, no error messages, just CTD. Its only been happening since the last patch and it happens about 7-10 times a day for me.

I get the same thing... I get booted and I get a connection closed or simular window popping up. Also my corps gets booted at the same time, once half way through a battle, 1 lad lost his cruiser.
Is there anything that we can do??
Also, is eve wiling to replace ships that have been lost due to us getting booted, cause its unfair to us and our corps after all that hard work. Last thing we need is to get booted half way through a battle and loose a web BS's that would just suk..
anyways, any ideas on the getting booted thing?? any official responce?? (if so, anyone post a link to it please?)

I've had the "drop to desktop, no error message, not even a windows GPF dialogue" a lot. Many times others have said they got booted with "Node down" or "server closed connection" or similar messages.
Ergo, some instances of "dtop to desktop" (not crash, as there's no windows GPF dialogue) is the game just plain exitting in response to a server/node down.
Heck, saves me having to quit the game before restarting it anyway. I don't trust logging in a second time, never works if I choose 'login screen' from the ESC menu anyway .

Edited by: Serak Tur on 04/08/2003 04:55:43 I've also been experiencing this problem. Before the last patch I never crashed. Now I am crashing 10 times a day at least. My corp mates are also experiencing the same problems and they also think it has something to do with the patch. I hope CCP is aware of the issue and the serious effect it has on game play. I can deal with a crash now and then, but crashing repeatedly like this makes me dread doing anything that might put me in danger. It is becoming more than just a nusiance and has begun to affect my enjoyment of the game. |

I was just thinking that myself... I never crashed before the new patch. now.....
it would be really reasuring if there was an official responce to this.. maybe not even on this thread but atleast something.

Well I have latest drivers and my puter will sometimes ctd and other times just flat reboot and I did not have this problem before the last patch. I have checked the forums and all I seem to find is others with the same problems. 2.53 GHX Intel Pent 4 1024 ddr sdram memory 80 gb 64mb ddr sdram nvidia geforce4 mx420 graphics card
8 to 10 boots a day its a struggle just to stay online. Don't dare do anything dangerous 2 minutes of my ship there and me not could be a pod waiting to happen. I would hope that someone would either reverse what they screwed up or give us a positive answer to fix it. And its not just me my address friends I see green red green red all day long.

This happened to me a while ago (several patches back), I lost a moa while pirate hunting in FD-MLJ (before all the PK blockades there). My client just CTDd and when I got back pirates had respawned and destroyed my ship (tho thankfully not my egg )
I petitioned (3 times, ish) and waited about a month to be finally told that there was no chance of me getting a new ship OR the money for it "because there's no way of [the system] confirming how [I] lost your ship or if [my] client crashed"

There is now an 'official' response to this sort of thing in the support section of this website! (Basically stating the reason I was given above - which is fair enough as it would be a potential exploit... but damned annoying!!!)
I usually find that when several people suddenly go offline together it's actually some sort of 'node crash' - my question is, would we be reimbursed for anything that's lost because of a node crash???
Show them no mercy ... for you shall receive none! |

The irony kills me. I want to screencap incase I get lag warped but the drivers cause me to CTD. Either way I give my ship to the fate of EVE server.
I can't wait until the new content. Just think; so many more things to bug us into cancelation.
