I was just wondering, after the last patch its realy hard 2 find some decent loot, almost impossible if u ask me. I am hunting for 3 days now 30k/40 and 50k pirates but the loot is just crap. It is a lot of risk to hunt there and i have 2 make 50+ jumps for it most of my loot is medium ammo, not worth the risk and time if u ask me. Wat do u guys think of it and is it gonna change with the next patch?.

We have in our corporation same problem. In many discussion people said same story. Loot tables was nerfed or some bug is IN.
You can get better stuff from low level pirates then from 40k/50k NPC.

Fighting Archangels, 1 Depredator and 3 Impalers, I get 50k cash but the loot was one Miner 1, 2 basic Cargo Expanders, and a stack of 100 Depleted Uranium M ammo......... what gives?? I realize there were some items that were dropping that were overbalancing, and thus got changed. I was all for making the pirates tougher with a better AI. But these loot tables now in the 0.0 systems are absolute crap. A bunch of single item loot containers, and crap loot at that, with an extremely rare sight of a slightly better than basic item thrown in once every 20 or 30 kills. I'm a warrior........ need more spoils here..... and possibly something that could be worth putting on my own ship or haggling over price for in Trade channel. Otherwise, I'm happy. see? :)) "Well if I'm legally drunk, What's the problem, officer?" |

You know I thought I remember reading something so I looked over the EULA and sure enough *points*, right here they promised me a rose garden.
I'm just happy for the cash from NPCs, the rest is gravey.

Not worth fighting pirates now - and you cant really fight humans - so no point in mining for a big ship, so no point in thinking about trading without a big ship - so no point in playing the game any more is there?
Someone tell me?

Rares are now rare.
Thats good.
The "number" of items dropped by high-end pirates does seems low - not the quality, not the rarity of items, but the number (ie only one item in the can).
Other than that - all seems fine too me. The best items are on the higher pirates as expected, but whacking half a dozen and expecting a few million to walk into your lap via an Uber-item aint going to happen.
You want a rare?
You're really going to have to look for it.
Works for me.

It is not just the rarity of rare loot now. Most of the really good loot seems non-existant any more. The other issue is that I get the same exact loot fighting pirates in a .4 or .6 system as I get from the pirates in a 0.0 system. This should not be the case. Also many pirates are not even leaving cans and many 50k pirates are dropping only 100 rounds of ammo. This is all backwards. the harder pirates should drop better/more loot not less/crappier loot.

I know if *I* was a pirate in a big bad pirate ship, right before *I* got blown up, I'd make sure to dump all my good loot so that you could get it.
I mean, it obviously wouldn't survive an explosion of a ship that large, so I'd make sure to take the extra effort to get it to you. "Calling a black man a racist is just too funny." - most shortsighted person on earth

<<<The other issue is that I get the same exact loot fighting pirates in a .4 or .6 system as I get from the pirates in a 0.0 system>>>
Three things:
1) The sec-system no longer bears any real relationship too what pirates inhabit what systems. To all intents and purposes it is redundant.
2) From above all that matters is the pirate type - not the sec of the system.
3) You do not get 250 Protoype Gauss guns from Arrogators - therefore unless you are getting Nullifier Pirates in a .4 or .6 your claim/statement is false.

Well i am hunting for 3 days now in o.o and i killed 70% Nullifier Pirates the only good loot that i had from them is a medium smartbomb, almost 50% is ammo, this cant be good. Did u even hunt there after the last patch Morkt Drak?.

Alright, did a lil more research and hunting, and I'm finding that the more rare the ores in an area, the frequency of certian pirates increase, and different spawn type groups. This does yield better loot more often, but there are still the "stiffs" from time to time. Now, the loot might not be the best in the game, but I certianly look forward to each and every battle now to find out what I get to fight, and just what types of loot they will drop. A couple of things I've found, I've only seen metioned on trade channel once or twice. So my smile is more genuine now. So, if you want better loot, get into systems with the more rare roids, just be cautious about possible claimed territories.
Oh, and how about this for major suckage.... had been playing a while, really needed to reboot as enemy missiles would just pass right through my ship but swarm until their timers ran out, thus doing their damage anyway and moving the ship in ways it wasn't meant to go.... interesting effect, just don't try to collect loot cans when this happens.... the only Quad LiF Booster MWD I've ever seen met it's demise just as I opened the loot can it was in and the Havoc missile hovering me exploded.
*sighs*

Yeah, the loot is rubbish and I dont think it can be explained that most stuff got destroyed in the explosion of the ships either. I lost a fully loaded omen the other day to NPC pirates and when I checked what loot had survived from my ship there were 7 items in my can out of 12 total items. NPC cruiser pirates must have more on them then a gun and some ammo. I don't expect a 250mm gauss or any other great drop very often but it looks bad when all I get from a cruiser is a bit of ammo but if I go to high security space (0.7 or so) and kill blood followers of sanchas servants I am getting better drops.
Rare items should be rare because it was getting a bit silly on the trade channel and the real market suffered but I think that larger pirates should drop a bit more stuff the a pirate in a noob ship. PieFace True Family Corporation
