Ok here comes the new patch and still i have random screen freeze problems. About 30 times a day it happens. Have used 3 different computers and still it happens. Used a friends computer at his house, still it happens. what is the deal ? this has been going on for 6 months now and i know many other people have complained of the same problem, screen freezes while using market, screen freeze during agent conversation, screen freeze for no reason, blah blah blah, petition petition petition, blah blah blah. I and many others have tried every imaginable fix from Clockmon to new drivers for everything, vid cards, sound cards, firmware for routers, various Windows versions, Pentiums and AMD's, on and on it goes. Believe me we have tried it all. Any plan to look into this ? This is getting rediculous, please fix the freeze problem with this game, it is NOT a player computer problem it is a CLIENT or SERVER problem. |

Ummm your the client, CCP is the server. Might be your Internet provider.

It is not. I changed IP because of this b4 and I sort of know what is caused by IP and what isnt. Also he said he tried it from his friends house also.

Uh Ryy, "Client" refers to the software that CCP created and that you loaded on your computer m8 :) To clarify, something in the programing of the "client" and or the server is not working correctly it is not a player computer configuration problem nor is it an IP problem since as was stated before i tried it from another location with a different service provider. So in short it's not me or my computer it's them and their software that needs to be fixed and it would be nice after 6 months if someone would fix it.

Ok i'm about to just give up now, overnight i built a whole new system loaded with XP thinking maybe this time it would not freeze so often and i could actually play a little of the game i pay for. Nope, not gonna happen, now if you can believe this it is freezing everytime i log into the game. Most times i never even make it to the character screen and when i do finally get into the station my character is currently at it will freeze every single time in no more than 30 seconds. 5 computers, 2 IP's and countless hours spent trying to make this game work right, what is wrong with this picture ? I think they should be paying me to even think about dealing with this crap anymore. |

I know what you mean, Since last night nothing but lag and CTD's and I have a 3.8 Processor 9800 ATI Pro, 2 Gig DDR mem, 2 120gig Baracuda HD's,all compliments of Alienware and to top it off a 3 Meg dedicated fiber connection. With this many people having issues I think CCP has node or server probs.

Been having this same issue with my home comp for months before the Cold War patch. I have tried everything to resolve this. Some days I can go on for hours and others for few mins. Seems to happen the most when I am just sitting in base.
There is plenty of threads on this, but never any kind of solid resolve.

Well guys here we go again, just spent more wasted money on this dam game. Went out and bought a brand new BFG GeForce X4000 AGP 128 DDR and guess what ? Still nothing but freeze, freeze, freeze. This is the biggest bunch of crap I have even seen in my entire life. Have used every possible driver available and no luck. This game is all screwed up now. PS: Don't waste your hard earned money on new hardware guys it ain't gonna help. I can't believe CCP won't even give us a "hey we are workin on it and we know there are problems". This is rediculous and unacceptable.

I wonder if the devs also did their own in house bug tracking, reporting and forum tools. Would sure explain a lot as to why we aren't getting s* out of them.
The scary part is if they are as good at debugging as they are at coding or customer service! lol!

I have all the problems listed above, so in the end i've purchased new router, paid ú50 for an NTL engineer to tell me nothing is wrong, I even watched his magic box show "good above limits" when he tested all my cables and my exchange.
I have been in constant contact with ccp and they advised me to install 42 Always Connected Plug (AC-Plug) 2.0 which supposedly keeps you connected. All to no avail, I sent the latest info about the enginner to CCP and they havn't replied and I also installed ping plotter which traced the route from me to the ccp isp which was perfect. So what to do next?? Don't try to be a great man, just be a man and let history make it's own judgements.

Same problem with me, I also have 2 pretty strong and new computers and play several other "heavy games like half-life, Amreicas Army and so on, all with full graphic capabilities and no problems. I hate that everytime I go to use market the game freezes!? Isn't their any support from CCP on this issue? It seems it happens to a lot of people.

Ok guys just for kicks i decided to try a few different vid cards to see if i could get anything solved and well as always since the CW patch nothing works at all, they all freeze one right after the other, and like all of you my computer was working perfect before the CW patch and i had not changed my computer in any way except for downloading the new CW patch and that is when the trouble began.
The following are the cards i used in testing:
Geforce4 Mx4000 Geforce FX 5200 Geforce FX 5500 Geforce2 Mx400 *(all Nvidia were used with the Authentic latest drivers as well as Omega and a few other driver packs with no positive results)
ATI Radeon 9200SE ATI Radeon 9200 ATI Radeon 9250 *(Ati were used with Latest Authentic Cat drivers as well as the NGO 1.5.7's and a few other driver packs with no positive results)
So there you have it, another wonderful day not able to play eve.

Trbl4u2 have you tried unistalling the game and installing the full new client version? I would think that you have and I am assuming it didn't work also so I am not even going to try... Anyways, keep us posted if you succed because I am about to give up.

Edited by: Mather Maelstrom on 22/07/2005 07:45:45 I have a Geforce FX5200 and don't have the problems described above. All I can say is that the update to windows XP SP2 for me (some 6 or more months ago??) had ruined the ability to play games for me (freezing, things not loading etc. etc. etc.). If I would try to open specific folders then my PC would freeze and that goes on for several other applications. This was until I got the complete SP2 version and installed that and everything worked fine. That would be about 6months ago.
EDIT: I read the other topic covering this and from that I got it's not something similar to what I had.

I had this with the old client not the new one things are better for me now. I assertained it was the client causing the problems by enabling the log options on my ADSL router.
what i found was incorrect tcp packets sent from the client. I forget the exact error message on the router logs but when my router recieved these packets it just closed the connection resulting in freezing at the application layer. These packets were only seen when i run eve not in Mozzila or IE or email or even IL2 my other fav game i play online. Hence client problems send those logs to the support peeps they may be able to then help.

I am also having the same problem since Cold War patch. And this certainly is not WinXP SP2 issue because I am running Win2000 Pro :)

Yep Sirah, have done multiple full build and various patched installations of Eve throughout testing. Have also used Win98se, WinME, WinXp - home with all updates, WinXp - home with various update sets from none at all to each interval in between, have called cable company and done in depth ping and trace testing to assure a quality connection and well as tracing right to the Tranq server and found no problems at all. Have used 3 different type of routers, Linksys, D-link and Netgear all new models with latest firmware upgrades. Have used 5 compleltely different systems with all MB Bios flashed to latest version. Have tried Cable, DSL and also Dialup all with same results (no connection problems found). Tried with soundcard in and out, on and off no change. Replaced memory in all systems and all modules test perfect so no prob there. Changed out power supply, no results, changed out HHD's no result, placed OS on one HDD and run Eve from seperate HDD, no result.Have done everything else humanly possible to find a fix an it just ain't happening. Like you i'm about to give up, am begining to hate this game.

It seems that possibly a solution has been found in this thread. Gonna try it tomorrow on the machine with ATI card on which it crashes all the time - btw now on GeForce it runs just fine

This is quite odd. I am not contradicting you, but I do not have the same problems as you do.
I don't have a machine with gizmo's up the wazoo.
I am currently running with a Dell Inspiron 22 (Notebook). I got a cable modem hooked up to a wireless router and am running almost problem free with a wireless connection at 54mbs. I even run lag free with the antivirus running in the background. Hell updating on the same connection. All this with a Pentium M 1.6ghz processer. Another thing is that I gotta go a little further then most people. Being in Canada, my link is routed through East USA servers, then to Europe. I don't have a very fancy video card either. But I have no problem soloing a complex in an enyo.
This being said, it is kind of absurd that I am outperforming dedicated game machines. CCP gives a break here.
